So I have a fencing manual from the 1970's that shows fencing foil being a new thing. Electronic Epee has been around either the 1930's or 1940's (there is a video on youtube somewhere showing that). Electronic Sabre came into the 80's but wasn't adopted in the lower levels until the 90's. Also in the late 90's they tried to attach accelerometers on the sabers in order to show you've hit the saber with enough force. They were highly unreliable and caused a lot of failed hits.
This is terrible. Like really bad. Lighter swords that changed fencing were NOT introduced in the 1500s. In fact, you average cross hilted arming sword is about the same weight or lighter than the more complex hilted weapon of the early 1500s. SIngle handed swords aside, a longsword (as in a two handed weapon) of any era is much much faster than all but the very lightest single handed swords. The leverage effect of having two hands on the weapon trumps all in the speed department. The smallsword (which modern weapons are loosely based off of) was a 17th Century development. It was only then that swords actually started to get lighter and in any way started to resemble the sporting swords of today. The duelling sabre came into vogue even later and the epee was last and was developed when people realised how divorced from the duel foil training had become. I know this is an old film and all but seriously why post something so obviously wrong?
who's come because FIE swordplay?
thought it was gonna be a progression of fence building...needless to say I'm disappointed
they didnt say anything about the introduction of electronics of the sport!! when did that happen?

People who use pistol grips should be banned.
Epee or foil? Because in foil, pistol grip provides the most mobility and quickness.

Girl, it's up to the fencer wheteher he or she decides to use a french or pistol grip. Both has its pros and cons
When you are bad and blame the grip for why you loose because you don’t play on your grips strengths.
wait but why should it be banned?, to bring back the "classic-ness?"
