  • We test the new AC200 to see if it would work as a quiet alternative to a gas powered generator for boondocking. Products mentioned in this video available on Amazon:
    The newer (upgraded) AC200P is now on Amazon: (this has a bigger battery than the one in the video)
    amzn.to/2WnmIWB
    20 foot extension cable (to run from the solar panels to the generator) :
    amzn.to/37a6rKV
    30amp to 15 adapter: amzn.to/3oGRgys
    These are the newer version of the panels we used (180 watt vs 170 that we have) amzn.to/3gxFW4W

    Get the dc to ac converter and add 4 to 5 more panels. Hard part with these systems is keeping anything with a constant power draw over 150watts running all night. Upgraded to a ac300 because i run 2 high end gaming pcs on that circuit and so impressed with the 300. i plan to replace the upstairs ac200p with a ac300 and at least 6kwh on hand. Basement will have 12kwh on hand by the end of this. With ac 300 you can improve solar to 2400 watts per unit. Two ac300 will run a home and can be split phased to 240volt. Maxoak is great and i think they are the leader in the solar battery bank market. Jackery and the others do not come close to what bluetti offers. As for portable i would go with the ac200Max that way if you run into nights where you run out of juice you can always grab another 2000wh or 3000wh battery to expand that pack.
    Once i get the 2nd ac300 the ac200p i have will become portable power for camping and working out in the boonies.

    As long as you have sun this is reasonable but once you get into night the real challenge shows up. Even starting the dark at 100% and not running your AC (200w draw continuous) you will end up with only about 8hr of runtime. I love my AC200P (and AC300’s/B300’s) but the ability to sustain is limited to sunny days only.

      Hi! Thank you for watching and commenting. You are correct - this video was made a while ago before Bluetti came out with their expandable lines like the AC300 and AC500. Either of these would be better if you need power in the dark for more than 8 hours.

    great experiment . But honestly Ac200 is doing what it advertised. You have 4 huge panels sitting out there . Cannot mount on RPod. You probably need two more panels to keep stasis. Otherwise sun goes down you will start drawing down Bluetti. Cause still need ac few more hours. I bought three Bluetti for SprinterVan. Ac50S. Ac200. Eb240. Plan to use small window a/c unit (on slider to get outside). And park in shade 9headed to South Texas for winter). I really appreciate this review. Good stuff !1

(We showed the hard rigid panels for this demo but would have higher watt flex panels on the roof if used long term)

    We replaced an old Dometic in our 36 foot camper (vented). ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDDbPbIlwLRcX_ntp51ui5UMtAUGpHYxE The install was a simple swap, all holes lined up, the electric plug back in with no trouble. Getting it on the camper was the most "difficult" part of it, and my friend made it look easy. I've seen people "sled" them up ladders as well though. I watched a RUclips video for instructions, very easily done. Some say it doesn't come with instructions, but I found the instructions under the ac in the box. I didn't need them, but they were there.It works well to keep a 36 footer comfortable, all by itself. It doesn't seem to be any quieter than the original, but it isn't any louder either. We're very pleased with it. Esp with the ease of swapping them out.

    I dont know how this would work in and RV. But I am reading about "propane". fridge, etc... in the RV. ALP... makes a propane only generator for $500. My friend is using the AC200p at his tiny off grid cabin. He uses the ALP to dual charge the AC200p. You can charge with solar, and the ALP at the same time... for about 1000W of input. Its a game changer for him. During the day, it helps keep the 200P fully charged during the day if needed.....and, at night, the ALP can pump 300W back into the system if needed per hour. It has been a game changer for him. (also on cloudly rainy days). If he is going up for a week, he brings 2, standard 20lb tanks. On a weekend 1. Some weeks, hes only had to use 1, 20lb propane tank. at 300W use... he gets about 50 hours off 1 tank. Just Some food for thought.

    What's the seer rating on your A/C in the RV?

    • @preparedranch
      @preparedranch  2 года назад

      Hi! Thank you for watching! I don't know the seer rating but do know that it's a Dometic 13.5k BTU a/c that is a very common unit used in RV's. While we love the AC200, we are considering upgrading to the AC300 or the soon to be introduced AC500 since they accept more solar input, have a 30amp RV outlet and are expandable with additional battery packs. We have tested the AC200 with both the foldup portable panels and rigid panels and found that if you have room, rigid panels are way better. Our testing with folding/portable panels has shown that they are far less efficient.

    I just got my Bluetti AC200P on Aug. 31st. It is not reading wattage correctly amoung other things. Max Oak has just been giving me the run around. They keep having me make videos of the issues. Sometimes it will not show that there is any wattage being dispersed and when it does show wattage when I use more wattage it says that I am using less. I was very excited about getting one of these and when I seen that it was messed up I just thought " no big deal, they will just have to replace it."

I have been unable to find specs on my AC unit, but clearly the amperage draw is higher than the output on the AC200Max. It faults every time, so I can't use it for AC in the trailer. We only ran it when the condenser was off and the A/C fan was still running because we were pretty sure the load of both would be too much for this unit. The adapter we used is this one: amzn.to/3b4IgOx Thank you for watching and let us know if you have any other questions.

    When charging the Bluetti 2000wP with solar, should there be any dual shutoff circuit breakers wired in and any inline fuses uses on each panel when charging to the max 700 watts in order to avoid overage amperage?

    • @preparedranch

      If you want to stick with a normal (non 12v) unit you might need more than the Bluetti to get you through the night. Potentially this could work and it's scalable. deltapro.ecoflow.com/portable-microgrid?fbclid=IwAR0KTEqkg8_vPyFWtNZiG3wenRVyV4IcFmE9yEAJBKB46LUAo7-D4-lqVEM

    Do you think this is good if I'm going to full time in a converted cargo trailer??

    • @preparedranch
      @preparedranch  2 года назад

      It might work - it depends on how well insulated the trailer is. If your budget allows, take a look at Bluetti's AC300 with expandable batteries. You could start with the minimum and then expand if needed. I would think the AC300 with one battery should do it - but if you get into a situation where you need more power, it's very easy to size the system up. The unit we have can have an additional battery - but it wasn't originally designed for it and won't work as well as the AC300 or AC500. So roughly you have a positive 400 wts coming in over discharge rate and your storage in still decreasing?

    • @preparedranch
      @preparedranch  3 года назад +1

      Hi Roy! When the A/C isn't running then it does have a positive 400 watts going to the battery - but when the A/C kicks on that is what will decrease it quickly - so it goes down while running and then slowly builds back up - but it never was able to fully keep up with the temps the way they were that day. We just wanted to show what it could do and how it might work for others.

    Amazing see how you run the AC. I have a Dometic 640312 with 11000 btc. Will it run using AC200P? I purchased the AC200P but worry it may blow something off. I can't run the AC with home power outlet of only 120V with a 30A adaptor unless in campground with a true 30A outlet. Why I can run it using AC200P using the same 120V outlet?

    • @preparedranch
      @preparedranch  3 года назад

      Hi Dan! Thanks for watching. Tough to say - but our Dometic unit is a 13,500 btu air conditioner and it handles it well. I have not heard of anyone with less than a 13,500 btu air conditioner not being able to use the Bluetti. I can't find the specs on what the amps are for the A/C outlets - but they might be higher than what you are using at your home. Also - be aware that they are coming out with an AC200MAX model which has a true 30 amp outlet plus optional additional batteries to make capacity even higher. (It has been said that the additional batteries will be compatible with the AC200/AC200P) You can read more about it on the Bluetti Club facebook page if you join facebook.com/groups/bluetti.club/

    • @dancheung85

      Can AC200P generate a 20 Amp to run the Dometic, since I have a 20 amp CB for the AC? A 20 amp meant 2400 W output but it is only 2000 W output.

    • @preparedranch
      @preparedranch  3 года назад

      @@dancheung85 Hi! Unfortunately I don't know as I can't find the amp specs for the outlets - but I'm sure if you join the Bluetti facebook group and ask Mark Yue that question he can answer. (He's the Bluetti rep on that group) It's a great resource for information. I do know that the Bluetti can run peak output of almost 4,000 watts for up to about 10 seconds and can handle 2000 running watts.

      I'm planning to get the new AC300Pro .. and then making a hole for my shoreline to go from inside to the outside plug. I'm reticent to cut any holes, but this seems like the best solution for a totally clean and non-stinky off-grid solution.
