Oh my brain is happily humming. (And my ears are very happy with the live drawloom sounds.) Even those of us who employ brocade would be glad of the relief of not managing butterflies allllll the time. So thank you. I’m glad you played with the optical blending, because I was fit to burst with the beauty of the wrong side of your cloth. So many good options here, and so thoroughly presented. Brava!
I love the natural song of the loom, too - and this is the only time of year I don't need to cover up the background roar of lawnmowers or leaf blowers in the neighborhood 🤣
Thank you sooo much for taking the time to make this video and share - it is exactly what I was thinking it would be like - my biggest challenge now is going to be sett....
I started off with my normal sett and then widened it over 3 or 4 iterations. Another possibility would have been to use a thinner weft, but I decided that with larger units mistakes would be easier to spot. I have some warp left and am pondering whether to go with, say, 30/2 cotton at a narrower sett or to go for a whole new structure. I hope you try it - you'll love it.
Wow, wow, wow ! I have been trying to figure out this exact process. I just couldn't get it. Until this video ❤ Thank you... I almost feel like this was a private lesson. So awesome ! ❤❤❤
A very helpful graphic at 5:45, this helped a lot. It reminds me a lot of Deborah Silver's Split Shed weaving, she also talks a lot about polychrome weaving. Very cool to see it applied to a drawloom. Thanks!
Good. I'm glad it was helpful - with those elongated units I wasn't sure that it was all that clear. Thank you for confirming. I am not too familiar with split-shed weaving but I know that many structures we use for figurative designs on the drawloom can be adapted for that technique.
my brain farts a little. So, in satin, you normally do 1 colour warp, 1 colour weft.. making a balanced square sounds simple enough.. How do you balance it with 4 colours ??
This is mind boggling but very doable thanks to your video. Thank you for all you share!
I thought you said you weren't going to watch it till next week! Couldn't resist, eh? 🤣
@@DuellingRabbits Guilty as charged!

OMG, I love your Rocky Horror Picture Show towel.
Thanks! That one was a lot of fun to design and weave.
Great video.

I'm so happy to hear this! Now there will be no stopping you. I hope you'll send me pics of your polychrome masterpieces in due course.
Oh! This is like bound weave!
It is, in a way. Lots of picks to complete one row of weaving.

Liz, that's why we have to widen the sett. To compensate for the weft-packing. It took me several attempts to get those little squares square!
