I live about 30 miles from Flagstaff Arizona and I hang around a lot of cowboys. A lot of them speak similar to Arthur. The cowboys in Arizona speak with a slight drawl, and some sound more like they have a bit of a Native american rez accent if they grew up around the rez.
My headcanon is Arthur Morgan‘s accent comes from his father, who raised him until he was 9, Lyle Morgan. We know from Arthur’s journal prior to Chapter 1 that’s the first time he or the gang had ever been through New Austin/Blackwater and the farthest south Arthur had ever been. So so he can’t originate from Texas/Louisiana, considering they talk about how this is the furthest they’ve been south. My headcanon is Lyle Morgan was from West Texas or something and spoke in a heavy Texan accent that Arthur adapted when learning to speak as a kid.
One thing i will never understand about Rockstar is they go out of there way to use fictional locations and states! But in every Rockstar title while in their imaginary states they mention real locations and states!
