- Welcome to my Brown Eyed Girl Lead Guitar Tutorial. Learn the famous riff from Brown Eyed Girl with TAB and visuals!
This is originally played on electric guitar but sounds great on acoustic too. If you run out of frets (this lick goes up to the 17th) we have a little trick that will help you play it on an acoustic guitar with limited fret access.

A lot of requests have been floating in lately - I'm loving it! With the summer approaching (and my students going on vacation) I'm hoping to have some extra time to film as many lessons as possible so if you have anything you'd like to learn let us know - community@goodguitarist.com

Great lesson. I play in a local covers band and, although this is a great number, we didn't play it because I struggled with the intro. Crazy as all the fills through out the song was fine, just the bloody intro!! I suppose it's because the lead guitarist is very exposed at that point and a bit of anxiety creeps in. But your lesson made me step back, slow down, practice in small bites and now it's coming along fine. Look out Van The Man we're coming to get yah!! :-)
Nice, Terry! It's always nice to hear from fellow musicians who are out there gigging. I am glad you're killing it now with the intro!
This intro is much simpler than I thought it would be. Thanks for walking us through the lead part . John.
You're welcome :)
Great that you also show it on a "regular" acoustic, without cutaway!
Nice lesson, but it bugs me when lessons are titled "easy" or "super easy". Nothing is easy when you are learning it. If it's titled "easy" and you find it difficult to play, then you feel like you're not good at guitar. It can be quite discouraging.
Thanks. I was making this too difficult...
woow you're an amazing music teacher
