Here is a song you simply must learn - a campfire classic to say the least! Learn the chords and strumming pattern as well as the fancy intro bit. Have fun with it!
And - as soon as you have learned the song be sure to head to the 'Playalong' video so you can play along with me at a medium tempo and then at full speed - this link will take you there!

I grew up in Buffalo, NY and spent my summers at the cottage in Wainfleet, Ontario. I hope to retire on Vancouver Island someday and have a Canadian heart. As a crappy guitar player I have really enjoyed playing again thanks to Shane. He is laid back, real easy to understand and being a Canadian is also a plus. Please share this channel with anyone who wants to have fun playing the guitar. Although I have never met Shane he seems like a true pro to me. Now if I can just get him to show me how to play some older KIm Mitchell or Max Webster then I might just add him to my will. Cheers from Oregon.
Ha! Thank you Sean - greatly appreciate your kind words and I truly hope you will retire in Canada! My best to you,
Shane

Shane
I joined Patreon about 2 weeks ago and really like your style of teaching. Coincidentally, you teach a lot of songs that I like, a few of which our classic rock band has performed in San Francisco. I'm the lead vocalist, but my compadres play all of the music. It's great to get back into my guitar again and, who knows, maybe when we return to performing again, I can play rhythm on a few of our songs. Speaking of which, any thoughts about adding Spooky (Atlanta Rhythm Section version) or Sultans of Swing to your repertoire? Thanks for great lessons. Jay
You ROCK 😎👍❤🖖
I've really found your videos to be a big help! If you are looking for suggestions, I'd really like to see your take on "Bright Baby Blues" by Jackson Browne.
Thank you Alan - always great to hear from people who are enjoying these videos - it's amazing to me. Glad to have you with us and I will add that song to the list. Cheers!

You win comment of the year!
HOLY CRA"#!!"#! , YOU TALK FAST! I HAD TO HIRE A COURT STENOGRAPHER TO TRY TO WRITE DOWN A COUPLE CHORDS AND THE INTRO !!! Dang, I thought my drinking days were over!
Your lessons are terrific. My problem is there’s NO way I’ll ever get a C chord to ring like you do. I mute the G string as well as the D string. My C chord is more of a “thunk!” than a chord. I gave up the guitar 11 years ago because of this. My fingers are not fat but my middle finger hits three stings at once. This time around I’m not giving up but....... I wish there were gloves with hard finger tips. I jam my thumbnail into my finger tips to toughen them, but NFG. Any advice?
Favorite moment: "That's the excuse you need to buy a cut out guitar"! Here I go...
Do it Doc! Grab a cutaway - you deserve it! Shane
@@GuitarAtWork I presume you would recommend a Taylor? I have promised myself no new guitar until there is a reason to celebrate or my playing becomes truly limited by my current "Recording King" which I got when I realized that the neck on my previous guitar was cracked--bar chords are REALLY hard to learn when the strings are a full centimeter (I converted from Imperial out of respect for your Canadian-ness) off the fretboard. Things got a lot better quickly with a not-broken guitar!
@@profaltman highly understood. Taylor fabulous!

Yep, I'll just run out and buy yet another guitar, so I can reach those upper notes. My wife will be THRILLED!!! 😏😏😏
Great tutorial, by the way. I've been wanting to learn this song for a long time. Hell, I'll just get a jigsaw and some duct tape, and make my own cutaway... 😏😏😏
a tip: you can watch series on flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Titus Chase Yup, been using Flixzone for since december myself :)
@Titus Chase Yup, been using Flixzone for months myself =)
Well, I may just have to buy a cutaway guitar Shane. If you see a rather angry looking 5'2" lady heading towards you, look for the exit😁
As always, thanks. Ps. I tried and failed to negotiate Patreon, computer moron I'm afraid, I'll try again.
Ha! Thank you James - good to hear from you - have fun with it!
Shane
There is no link to get the chords. At least not for free as you mentioned.
