This movie is pretty underrated, I especially love Belt. Fun Fact: This was originally going to be a stop-motion Aardman film called _Crood Awakening_ before Aardman left, and DreamWorks retained the rights.
I saw The Croods at the movie theaters and I actually had a great time from beginning to end. Next to the Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda films, The Croods is one of the funniest films I’ve seen from Dreamworks.
DreamWorks waits for the second movie to have more emotional impact than the first, without over performing in the second. I.E Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda 2, Croods 2
The Croods was my all time favorite movie as a kid. I remember asking my mom if they made a second movie and nearly crying when I found out they hadn’t. When I discovered a second one was being released, I jumped around like a kid going to Disney World.

I was about 21 when this came out and i just felt pure sadness n panic thinking eep wasnt going to say goodbye to grug. I hated my dad as teenage angst and it wouldve broken me if we never made up. Much love to the dads out there.
Aw, I'm really happy you did this. Can't believe this was from 2013 already!! I feel like it's seriously underrated. This was a good movie to come out of a saturated animted movie era.
I first saw the Croods in school during a free period, and the bell rang right after he threw them all over. After that, I thought for the longest time Grug was dead.
That bird in the beginning is actually called a Ramu. Like a ram and an emu! I think the animal designs were something that made this movie so entertaining and interesting!
There's a theory that the croods are so different from guy because they are nealthertal while he's a homo sapiens. I believe It has been confirmed that both species existed at the same time and even had babies together but because homo sapiens were so much better at adapting than neanderthals they survived and evolved while neanderthals died out.
I found this movie surprisingly-touching. The fascinating backgrounds and creatures reminds me of an animated fantasy film called 'Dragon Hunters,' which is obscure but absolutely gorgeous. And evolved man Guy is really cute.
12:24 a macawrnivore a predatory big cat with coloring of a blue and yellow macaw parrot and curved tusks located in the upper jaw in the shape of that of a parrot’s lower beak. You see in the Croods’ world animals appeared as hybrids much like Avatar: The Last Airbender.
That’s so creative, and the creature that can turn its head like an owl and kept chasing the crood family is a bear owl, it looks like a cat but it’s not
I remember seeing this movie when I was still in high school, and it made me laugh my ass off more than once. What an underrated, comedic masterpiece!!!
I absolutely LOVED this movie as a kid and still do. I don't mind the sequel but I was alot older when it came out so I don't loved it as much as the first one but it's still ok.
I am so upset that their fashion in the last part of the movie will disappear anyway! *cry* I really love their new outfit! *cry* BUT STILL! I LOVE THE CROODS!!!
I love this movie so much. I know there’s a lot of people who don’t like it, but this one has a special place in my heart. (Also how could one not love the absolute icon of GRUG)
So if anyone is wondering what era this takes place: according to producers, it's set about 1 to 2 million years ago. As that's the time where most scientists and anthropologists agree is when the first Humanoids began to emerge. The Croods are supposed to be Cro Magnons, and Guy is supposed to be a Neanderthal. They are technically Humans, but not of the Homo Sapien branch like us. According to Anthropologists, there were originally 9 to 11 branches (sub species) of the Human species. Over time, due to various factors, only Homo Sapiens survived while the rest went extinct. The Neanderthals were the last to go extinct and may have been around even during the Ice Age and the beginning of the Stone Age (between 20,000 and 100,000 years ago). It is theorized that the Neanderthals were smarter than us, and the only reason they died out is because they weren't as social as Homo Sapiens are; therefore they were fewer of them. And it's possible we bred them out of existence because up to 2% of the Human population today has Neanderthal DNA in them. It's more prevalent in European and Asian people. Anyway, if you look at the animals from that time period, you'll notice some really bizarre looking creatures. Though the production team admitted many of the animals in the movie were made up.
I watched this while in the hospital for a broken femur. It was a great fun movie as a distraction for me, and I'm happy to see other people watch it :)
Do you do anime? I suggest either A Silent Voice (movie) or Horimiya (series). I think you'll like both of them a little. Could you do one of them? Or both? IDK. Okay sorry. Bye
I was very surprised to hear you mention ARK near the end haha. I have a disgusting amount of hours in that game. I love it (Despite it's many... many... flaws)
Yeah really liked this story not just for the animation but the father daughter dynamic. For a Nicholas Cage movie, he makes a convincing dad who is trying his best even if not successful
The Croods are based more off the Neanderthals and Guy is a Homo sapiens. And the fact there is evidence we breed with each other, rare but did happen, which is kinda cool. You really see the difference between the Croods and Guy during the montage of them traveling and how Guy uses critical thinking and invention. If you ever watch any version of Tarzan or Jungle Book each time they show the difference of humans to other animals. Sure there are other animals out there that use tools, but how humans do it using various materials to make typical hard work easier and remembering how is unique. Add in the structure of our hands, feet, and well the body in general it makes since how we became the apex predator of this planet despite being a sack of meat. Now, if i recall the sequel actually shows spears which is the number one weapon that once the Croods learn how to use will help them stay alive a lot longer than if they hadnt joined Guy.
