There's a lot of great details in this movie! Like Nani being a good surfer isn't just some random trait they threw in. Her bedroom is full of medals and trophies for surfing so she was on her way to be a professional surfer until their parents died. And the fact that their parents died because of driving in the rain is why Lilo brings a peanut butter sandwich to Pudge the fish, who she says controls the weather. She wants to keep the weather clear so nobody else gets hurt.
Also for more animated sci-fi movie suggestions, I think you'd really like "Treasure Planet" And if you end up liking that, there's also "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas" which isn't sci-fi but still really good.
And Nani is only 19 and has to take on the responsibility of running a household with an odd little sister. Throughout the whole movie she is being understanding and accepting of Lilo's quirks. It's really sweet
I have seen the movie a couple of times in both swedish and english but I never noticed that detail about Nani. I did saw a surfer poster but never saw the medals and trophies. I guess I took for granted that many hawaiians can surf as it is the national sport over there (after all the hawaiians invented surfing).
I think Cobra knew Stitch was an alien- that’s why he said model citizen and not obedience school
Indeed since he was in the C.I.A before 😂😂😂
@@wisygirlywopitty770 I wonder if the CIA knows what really happened on rosswelt?
@@Dragonstorm2000 probably lol not like we’re ever gonna know
The word lilo in Hawaiian can be interpreted as lost. The title, Lilo and Stitch, then means lost and put back together again.
Such a good movie, and the series is an imprinted childhood memory as well.
Clever title
A connection I didn't make until I watched this again as an adult is the reason she is obsessed with giving Pudge the fish a sandwich is because her parents died in a car crash caused by bad weather. Since she thinks he can control the weather she does what she can.
Yes, that's make sense. Sometimes I can't help but think that Lilo blames herself for her parents' accident. She has a schedule of the right days to feed the fish and what it likes to eat. And because she thinks it controls the weather, maybe on the day of the accident specifically she forgot to feed Pudge or perhaps she gave it something it didn't like to eat... It's so much to think, and it's kind of really sad, if we stop to try to understand what's going on with Lilo's mind, what she thinks about everything that happened, after all she is just a little girl.
Fun Fact, By September 2001, 'Lilo and Stitch' was mostly complete and nearing its planned 2002 release, the original cut had Stitch doing a joyride in a 747, weaving through buildings. This entire scene had to be reanimated and finished after most of the animation had finished because the tragedy of 9/11 would be too fresh. the final version changed the 747 to an alien craft and the buildings to Hawaiian mountains.
Wow, I never knew that, thanks for fact.😊
The part where he says "I'm lost" hurts me because I feel identified with Stitch, we all feel lost at any time or situation :(.
Me too.
I have a screen-grab of that very moment as my Facebook header.
Random facts bout this movie:
1) the guy who designed Stitch, also designed Toothless the dragon. You can definitely see the similarities.
2) the scene where the spaceship flew through the mountains, was originally a commercial plane flying through a city, but after 9/11, they decided to change it. You can still watch the original version on RUclips though.
I think you would totally dig treasure planet. Underrated Disney film. It snuck in under the radar between two more popular film eras
This is a must!
yes, seconded! was gonna recommend treasure planet when he asked about animated space movies :D
This is a definitive must. Treasure Planet is somehow overlooked so much, but actually is one of the best Disney Movies out there. Just the character arc of Silver -
OMG YESS!!
Absolutely agree with you. Treasures Planet is a great film and a wonderful story line.
“I remember everyone who leaves”
🥺
Easily my favorite Disney movie ❤️
Me too.
Same, I’m actually wearing Stitch pajamas right now.😄
The lilo and stitch movie saga are my favorites. As seen in the later films, the loyalty and love they share for each other is capable of surpassing even death.
U want space/sci-fi, watch Treasure Planet, a great re-telling of an old story.
I agree.
Wait he should see the other 2 Lilo and Stitch movies 🎥 🍿.
100% Please react to it
Add on WALL•E, Titan AE, Planet 51, and maybe Avatar.
@@Figueroa8635 actually, there’s 3 Lilo and stitch movies.
For a post-Renaissance Disney film, Lilo and Stitch is a great one! It’s got a lot of action, and plenty of heartfelt/heartwarming moments. The relationship between the title characters are my favorite thing in this film. Stitch wants a family and Lilo wants a friend. It’s always satisfying to see the both of them find what their looking for after all the obstacles they faced throughout the story. Always a pleasure seeing this fun Disney film every now and then!
Nani is a very talented surfer! If you look around Nani’s room you’ll see a bunch of metals and trophies for surfing so most assume before her and Lilo’s parents died that she was making her way to become a professional surfer but because of the accident she had to give it up to fully take care of Lilo.
'Suffer'? Don't you mean 'Surfer'?
There are sequels to this, but they were never released to theaters. They were strictly direct to video (like 'The Lion King 2') which means that the production value was much lower. They are really fun, though. (The same cannot be said for all of the direct to video sequels.)
yeah like they were direct to video but so much effort went in to them even with a lower budget
If I'm remembering right the sequel for Lilo & Stitch was just a glorified longer pilot episode to launch the TV show
@@gutscross9706
That was Stitch! The Movie.
@@gutscross9706 Lilo and Stitch 2, Stitch has a glitch is the real sequel to this :) and I love it! i cried so much!
Their was the Leroy and stitch which was the finale to the TV series and the movie Trilogy
The original climax was very different from the final release. In addition to the fight at the house being MUCH more violent (the explosion is caused by a gas leak) and less comedic, but instead of the big red starship, they steal a passenger plane from the airport.
This came out just a little while after 9/11, so this was all changed last minute.
The most obvious artifact is that Dr. Jumba is drawn out of scale in a lot of the ending.
You can only find the deleted scenes from the 📀 or blu ray disc.
After reading this, you can see that the ship resembles an airplane a lot. The front windows, the nose, the engines, the seats at 26:02, the door at 26:24. The red ship is basically a plane changed a little to look like a spaceship. If you pause at 25:47 you can say it's 100% an airplane in that framing.
There is a movie 'Lilo & Stitch: Stitch Has A Glitch' and its sequel 'Leroy & Stitch' and there is a 'Lilo & Stitch' series. I think you need to see the two movies. In the last movie you see the name of EVERY experiment that was made.
And leroy and stitch
Lilo & Stitch is one of my favorite Disney movies, I think it's an incredible history about family and friendship. Also it's in Hawaii and it has an amazing soundtrack. I love it! Nani is one of my favorite characters, the way she tries so hard to give the little sister a good life... I heard once that, before they parents died, she was a surfing champion, with so many trophies, but after the car accident, she chose to left everything behind to take care of Lilo. About the other movies you mentioned, The Lion King 2 is so good in my opinion, and I remember that when I was a kid I loved the other two movies from Aladdin, "Aladdin - The return of Jafar" and "Aladdin and the king of thieves", especially this second one. And also you should watch "Rio" and the live action of "Maleficent".
Personally I think it's adorable that Nani and Lilo refer to them as Uncle Jumbaa and Aunt Pleakley
4:17 another space-oriented animated movie by Disney is Treasure Planet. Right now it's kind of a cult classic but it has been criminally underrated since it came out. It was a true passion project from the guys who made The Little Mermaid and Moana, and I feel like you can really tell. I love it to bits!
I double it! Treasure planet is fantastic and JV deffo should watch it!
Such a shame that it was kinda sabotaged by Disney marketing…
Then I'll triple it! A must see!
I have to say this movie 🎥 was so great that they made a TV series 📺, 2 more movies 🍿, and a crossover arc where they met other animated Disney characters. Even Japan 🇯🇵 made their own version of Lilo & Stitch series. Sometimes in Walmart I see T-shirts of Stitch being “Hangry” and a kids shirt saying “Sup bro”.
3 more movies
but the series is without Lilo and some of the movies don't have Lilo
maybe to reach other groups of fans
@@Savenso There are two separate series with Stitch, the original "Lilo & Stitch: The Series" which follow this movie (and it DTV sequels), which is the one Erick is taking about.
The other series - the one I believe you're referring to - was made in/by Japan and was called "Stitch!" which has Stitch meet and befriend a Japanese girl named Yuna and has Stitch having to do good deeds.
In terms of space based animated movies, Treasure Planet is definitely up there on my list.
Yes. Just yes.
Almost nothing beats Treasure Planet in my opinion. It is amazing!
I always loved this movie! Disney tried something new and original instead of thing based off of old stories and mythology.
Me too.
The reason Cobra Bubbles said it wouldn't be easy to explain at headquarters is because the alien lady said their family was now protected by the united galactic federation and that they would be checking in, this meant Cobra could not take Lilo away from Nani, he still worked as a Social Worker, so instead he became a family friend and helped them so there would be no questioning Nani's ability to raise Lilo.
Jumba and Stitch were originally meant to be criminal partners- They changed it after that early scene had already gone through a lot of development so that's why it looks like Jumba has been in prison cell for ages! (Also Moana is not exclusively hawaii, more ancient Polynesia which stretches' across the pacific)
25:36 "They're like plane engines for some reason." Heh...funny, uh, story...it was supposed to be an airplane chasing Gantu through the cities of Hawaii in the original version of this movie...and then 9/11 happened and...well...they decided to change a few things.
For space oriented animated movies, "Treasure Planet" is a must. And although it's not very well known, I remember enjoying "Titan A.E." as a kid. Lilo and Stitch does have sequels and at one point there was a tv show!
Treasure Planet is another sci-fi 2d animation you might like.
Exactly. I'm waiting for that so bad.
omg jv.... having conversations about being more aware of how to communicate with autistic kids and how your kids also had the same cues is 💯✨
And I love your shirt's message!!!!
14:42 man I get amazed on how easily you can imitate almost every character mostly right away, it is awesome
The girl who voiced Lilo is Daveigh Chase who coincidently voiced Chihiro in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away which was released the same year as Lilo & Stitch in the US.
Daveigh is also Samara!! ❤She did 3 huge hit films in 2002
There's multiple follow-up movies. In order of release: Stitch! The Movie, Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch, and finally Leroy and Stitch. The reason Stitch! The Movie isn't listed as the sequel despite being made before Lilo and Stitch 2 because it was meant as an intro film for the TV series, and in the timeline the movie's events take place after Lilo and Sitch 2.
Best Disney movie ever along with both sequels and the show!
I'd agree it's top 3. Fantastic in every way but just out of reach of the top.
3 sequels
Yesss! Classic Disney always fantastic ✨
Another classic is The Road to El Dorado (2000) for DreamWorks, epic
I love this movie! I like that it shows they love each other but still struggle to make things work. The way it looks bad to the social worker he’s not a bad guy and has to be careful to do the right thing. In this case of course it’s keeping them together.
Me too.
Glad you liked the film. Hope you'll make time to see Jumba's other 625 prototype experiments.
And leroy
Worth noting that this was co-written and co-directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. A few years later they were both at DreamWorks where they co-wrote and co-directed "How to Train Your Dragon".
the way i still cry at this
My top favorite Disney animated film (if you don't count Pixar, which I don't, that's a separate list), and I always get excited to see it get more love. I knew with your sensitivity in past reactions that you would appreciate its deeper levels and heart. Lilo's entire speech of: *"Our family's little now, and we don't have many toys. But if you want, you could be part of it. You could be our baby, and we'd raise you to be good. 'Ohana' means family. 'Family' means nobody gets left behind. But if you want to leave, you can. I'll remember you, though. I remember everyone that leaves."* ? Makes me cry my eyes out every damn time, and I have seen the film...MANY times.
"This is my family. I found it all...on...my own. It's little and broken, but still good. Yeah...still good."
I've always loved how Stitch delivered that speech to the Grand Councilwoman. That and how he told Nani "Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind...or forgotten."
Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a glitch
Stitch!
and
Leroy and Stitch
All great movies
This is one of my favorite Disney movies
I’m glad that you enjoyed Lilo & Stitch. Fun fact: Lilo & Stitch, along with Mulan, and Brother Bear were the only Disney animated films to be made primarily at the former animation studio in Orlando, Florida. Anyway, yeah, I loved how the relationship with Lilo and Nani was developed well, along with their relationship with Stitch. Well, you should also react to Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Treasure Planet fairly soon, as those films were fun films from this era as well. Well, great reaction to this film once again!
Only last year I found out that the voice of Lilo is also Samara from The Ring and I don't know how to feel about it 😂 😂 😱
I was shocked at first but now I LOVE it!
Daveigh Chase is a true talent
2 cool things you’ll notice in Nani’s room 1 is that Nani has a bunch of surfing trophies which comes to play when you see her in the surfing scene also she has a Mulan poster which is a cool obvious throwback
i love lilo and stitch. one of my fav disney movies from when i was younger
Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a glitch
Stitch The Movie - Basically a Prequel/intro to the Lilo and Stitch Cartoon
Leroy and Stitch - Sequel/End to the Lilo and Stitch Cartoon
the amount of tears this movie makes me shed. holy crap.
I saw a little bit of this for free when I was working at the theater. I saw this from the projection room and it’s not often you get an experience like that.
Lilo & Stitch was such a huge hit when it came out, I was and still am in love with it. :) I, too, like the fact that they gave Nani a realistic woman’s shape, the older Disney women were crazy unrealistic lol!
My two older siblings, uncles and cousin used to surf when they were younger - I always wanted to learn but never got around to it. >_o
you have no clue how happy i am!! i was really hoping you watch this movie, it's one of my favs!!
Check out my new video that just dropped on RUclips! Ice Age: Continental Drift ruclips.net/video/7bHn8JZhMfk/видео.html
Now you know what a treat & a treasure it was to be privileged to watch them growing up. In my household growing up we got away with staying up a little bit longer on Sunday night when our parents (especially my father), would let us watch Disney movies on Sunday night.
I love Lilo she’s such a G and has a big heart
Another interesting thing they did with this is turn it into a TV series based on recapturing all the failed experiments 1 through 625. Pretty funny for their other shows
The "Duke" they're referring to is Duke Kahanamoku. You should really read up on him. Every surfer and surfer movie when I was a kid (I'm now 40) had him as the Legend of legends. Great reaction. This has been one of my favorite movies since it came out. Have a fantastic day and thank you for all your hard work.
"Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" is great! Definitely worth a watch. I remember liking "Stitch!: The Movie" as a kid too but that's more of an introduction to the TV series than a standalone movie IIRC.
Also since you mentioned it, I think Lion King 2 & 1 1/2 (called 3 in some places) are great personally I love them but they are pretty divisive
Wasn't there also a movie called "Leroy & Stitch" that came after 1 and 2?
Lilo & Stitch had an entire canon of several TV series and movies that followed after the movie, and it's actually really engaging! Really expands on the universe in fun ways.
Lion King 2 is very well regarded by fans, except for the comedy - but I still recommend it!
Treasure Planet is an underrated 2D/3D disney film that is situated in a dystopian-esque view of space and planets that is really interesting that you should definitely check out. You can definitely tell that technology is at a turning point in animation.
Treasure Planet is a mix of 2d and 3D and is effectively space pirates
Also yes to legend of the guardians and can't wait to see it also haven't seen that movie in a couple years it's ashame they never continued it
The funny thing about this movie is that the majority of this town sees these aliens and just shrugs. My theory is that the locals have seen so many weird tourists that they put Jumba, Pleekley in the same category, and I guess they consider Stitch a mutant dog. Either way, they're all just collectively like, "that's probably fine." They're so chill about it, and it's so funny to me.
Yes, the movie expanded it's called "Lilo and Stitch: Stitch has a Glitch" it's such a good movie and a tear jerker
And there is a part 2.... and 3, 4, and 5.
Lilo and Stitch,
Stitch! The movie
Lilo and Stitch 2, Stitch has a glitch
Leroy and Stitch
And the Lilo and Stitch tv show ( which is very much worth the watch)
What I love about this movie is that it doesn't really have a villain. Bubbles and Gantu are just doing their jobs. And Jumba, despite referring to himself as an "evil genius", he doesn't come off as all that evil.
in the beginning of the movie, lilo explains that she feeds pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich cause she believes pudge controls the weather. it’s a theory that she’s always given pudge a sandwhich, but on the day that her parents died in a car accident cause of the rain, she forgot to. even though it was just a coincidence, lilo blames herself for it. which is why she makes feeding pudge such a big deal
That impersonation of Stitch was phenomenal.
It was ok lol
@@lessismore8533 then put that as your own comment.
If you want space oriented movies then Treasure Planet is a must watch. Also try Atlantis, Meet the Robinsons, Sindhbad. They aren't space oriented but gives similar vibes. Lilo and Stitch has been one of the best original stories that Disney has come up with rather than basing their movies on some mythological characters.
guaranteed tears if you watch Lilo & Stitch 2 .. I loved it
lol loved this and this movie it kills me every time you open and close your month and put the movie audio over, I love it. It's too funny.
Autism (coming from someone with it) isn't so much a 'spectrum' as it is a pick-your-own salad bar, haha. There are so many symptoms, so many co-morbidities that can happen alongside it that it's kinda hard to tell what belongs to which, even for the doctors, themselves. I do think that Lilo might have autism, or ADHD (both hyperactive, and inattentive types), possible PTSD, and huge grief issues that she can't just... sort out like an adult, and maybe can't even really put into words.
But! I'm just a person who's looked into what I, personally, have, and not the writers or a doctor ^_^. Either way, though, I think that there are things in this movie that will resonate with your little one. I hopes she loves it when you can watch it with her!
If you like scifi you could try Titan A.E., I loved that movie when I was a kid, but it has usually mixed reviews. Or Final Fantasy, the spirit within I think it was called, pretty much the same thing happened.
I really loved those movies T.T
Treasure Planet was released the same year but they didn't market it as much. One of my FAVORITES.
About the spaceship looking like a plane… Yep! Initially they stole a jet from the airport and the flight chase scene was through a city… then 9-11 happened so they needed to make some changes. You can find the original footage on youtube
Cobra Bubbles needs his own show or movie tbh... I'd LOVE to see that!
There is a whole series of movies and tv shows that this one kicked off. It goes "Lilo and Stitch", "Stitch! the Movie", the "Lilo and Stitch" tv show, "Leroy and Stitch", and "Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch", all released in that order, though the last movie may actually take place between the first two, was never made clear. After all that there is also a Japanese tv series called "Stitch", though it never seemed to catch on in the US and I have only been able to see a few clips from it myself. But I have seen all the rest of the series and love it.
This is by far one of my favourite Disney movies of all time. Aloha Oe still makes me cry because my grandpa used to sing that to me when I was really sick as a kid and Blue Hawaii (the song that’s from) is our favourite Elvis movie. I used to either watch that or Lilo & Stitch because this was the ONLY Disney movie my grandpa actively watched with me. Also there are two sequels I believe.
there is 2 other Lilo & Stitch movies and 1 who marks the start of the serie (the 2 will make you cry, i can not resist the emotion personaly 😭)
I know it's already been suggested but just in case, TREASURE PLANET!! right up your alley man
It’s been 20 years since, I was 5 years old and first time watching this movie on 📀.
Also Lilo had to deal with both her parents deaths and because it happened for her at a young age that is probably the reason why she acts the way she does in the beginning
Lilo is voiced by the little girl from the ring movie
I think it’s fair to say this is a weird movie 😂 but still a classic
Beside Treasure Planet, which is wonderful, another sci-fi animation is Titan (though I don't remember it as well). It's not Disney but 20th century fox, and it's visually stunning
Titan AE. Also, WALL•E.
there's treasure planet which is a mix of 2d and 3d animation
That 3D picture thing is called a Veiwfinder. I had one as a kid and it stills exsist out at the family summer residence right outside of my home town.
Hi, JV's galactic adventures. I hope you're having a great day. I'm also a huge fan of Disney and I love Lilo and Stitch. I hope you're having a great magical day and a happy new year.
yes. thank you.
6:49 i think that’s the first time I’ve heard you say “eh” like a true Canadian
I just came from your Brother Bear video and thought it was funny hearing it from you after saying how the moose in that movie say it too much
When you asked what space movie you can watch, the first thing in mind and I think you will love it. And it's Disney's Treasure Planet, released in 2002.
Moana's actually a mixture of Polynesian cultures not just one, so it is Hawaii mixed in with other Cultures
Fun Fact: The spaceship chase scene through the mountains was originally set in downtown Honolulu. They went back and reanimated the entire sequence after 9/11.
They had a tv series for lilo and stitch.
Lion king 2 is amazing.
I would literally force my parents to put this on the TV and watch it over and over again with me. It was, and still is, my favorite Disney movie of all time.
Apparently, my mom can quote this entire movie from memory now because of me, lol
As others have said, there are sequels but also a tv series which expands on things which is great. This is a movie I enjoy much more as an adult than I did when I was a kid.
i LOVE the second Lilo and stitch
Lilo and Stitch has become a franchise, not just one movie. It got a home-to-media sequel Stitch! The Movie which was like a pilot for the Lilo & Stitch the series (similiar to how Buzz Lightyear of Star Command became the home-to-media release pilot for the Buzz Lightyear show and Return of Jafar for the Aladdin series), which continues the story of Lilo and Stitch's lives on Hawaii while they search for Jumba's other experiments that got loose on Hawaii and trying to find homes for them. Also two other movies were released with Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch and Leroy & Stitch, which is a finale to the series.
Stitch! The Movie has the BEST experiment plot twist in my opinion. Also just the second best sequel ever
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Cobra Bubbles”Good day”
Me”👋Nice meeting you”
Is the robot from the beginning actually a Treasure Planet easter egg? Thats surely one of the best Disney sci-fi movies of all time! And Atlantis is cool too! :)
