My friend, you forgot Terra Invicta! Currently in Early Access and aiming for a mid 2023 release! It's one of the most detailed spaceflight simulations paired with an in-depth geopolitical simulation!
There is also this game called SpaceBourne 2 that is meant to come out in early 2023, I played the first one and while it was very janky due to being a few people team first game, you could feel that it was a passion project that they poured their heart into despite not knowing a lot about video game making (and it show, sadly), so im really curious as to how the sequel will pan out as it seem they really upped the production value overall.
Came here to mention SpaceBourne 2 aswell. I haven't played it myself yet but from what I have seen in videos, it is quite frankly astonishing what such a small team (from what i heard, it is only one guy) can acomplish. I will definitly find some time for this game.
@@thomaspitter3229 I purchased the "game" (It's still in Early Access) last week and it's surprisingly good. All of the features are there and just polishing. I can recommend it. The developer is dropping weekly updates and patches.
i have that but 10 mins on the clock because there werent any players on when i went to have a look, really sad as i backed it originally but didnt want to play until it was more finished :(
It's in one of those chicken and egg situations. People enjoy the game when they play it, but no one plays it, so they stop playing it, so when people play it, they enjoy it, but no one plays it, repeat ad nauseum. It has very positive reviews on steam, but for some reason, people don't stick around. I'm hoping that once they leave early access, they'll start actually marketing it and trying to get people to stick around, because it really is one of the most fun combat space games out there right now.
@@varlunmulland3992 It's $35. That is cheaper than most triple A MMOs today, and well worth the money for the experience provided, IMO. They need to fund the game. It's not like they have a cash shop for P2W elements or anything like that, it's a flat, reasonable rate to get permanent access to the game.
This is my holiday treat when you put out your yearly what to look forward to video! It looks like next year is going to be a fun one for us lovers of space.
KSP 2 is really what I'm looking for at the moment. I've had a few goes of Terra Invicta so I am very interested in making deep space colonies. Official multiplayer only increases it's value in my eyes.
A new video is in order because X4 Foundations should be on the list! Especially now with the newest Kingdom Come DLC bringing in the Aquatic Boron, the whole universe is complete now. No other game comes close to the level of scaling from your own ship up to building your own empire.
The series has tons of potential but is massively held back by the fact that the devs refuse to make a decent UI and AI. These are the two issues that are really holding that series back from swinging it out with the big boys.
Curious as to why they insist on keeping the UI in such state. A professionally revamped UI is no big deal and brings no harm to the rest of the content…
Thank god Starfield is a single player game! I play games to get away from real world a-holes, not to have to put up with them in my off time too. Hell is other people.
and it is that attitude that makes the phenomenon you speak of so common...so that others consider you in the same light. and the society as a whole, well...just like ours.
Star citizen’s got some issues turned playing it never got my ship off ground and I do really well on the same game. Switch from first person to second person and back in the ship. Just starts going and spins and won’t stop. It continues to do this even though I reset it.. hmmm
This will be a revelatory year for the industry will are all invested in, I can guarantee. A truly remarkable number of promising new titles from across the genre, are just around the corner.
Great list. Really looking forward to Starfield and Outer worlds 2. I've been following both games and OW2 i'd be shocked to see before 2024 with 2025 being more likely.
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is also coming next year, and if it is at least a graphic and 64 bit upgrade to the original game it will be worth including on a list like this.
I bought the Original Sins, the Updates and later Rebellion. Still play the game. Have been waiting for ages for part 2. Sadly they focused on Gal. Civ.
I’m getting back into ED after over a year away. It’s such a great game with so much potential. I spend 99% off my time doing ship stuff but I think the space legs are fun, too, and really puts perspective to the scale of the ships.
That game's never going to recover after their major dropping of the ball with the latest major update. You're better off waiting for a game to replace it.
I just got into elite dangerous a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I haven't even done the ground missions (I might do one just to try it out) but I love the fact that I can walk around planets and farm materials. It's much more immersive. I love being able to look up into the sky and see the planets in that particular star system.
Played Elite on my Commodore 64, then latter on my PC and a PalmV. Always was one of my favorite games. Homeworld was awesome. Still playing Sins of a Solar Empire
Sins of a solar Empire 2 is also coming, unfortunately first as an epic exclusive, later for everyone. there is also a big update for x4: foundations, one of the best space games for me.
None of these games allow me to do what I want to do in a space game. 2023 will likely still be Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen for me, with some Starfield sprinkled in
Well i'm hyped up for Starfield, Outer Worlds 2 and System Shock obviously, but i'm also somewhat curious about Everspace 2! I like most of the things i keep hearing about it and even though it wasn't initially on my "most hyped" list, it is now after what i heard! I only wish we could explore those planets on foot in that game, but at the moment it seems unlikely...but gorgeous planetary looks still lure me right in...
The last great space game I played was Freelancer. I think a reboot of that would be phenomenal. Also, devs need to put in a little more time understanding zero and low G physics. Space ships won’t just stop because you let off the throttle.
So just want to call you up on missing ones as you even mentioned Elite Dangerous. Notable missing ones below: Astrox Imperium: EVE Offline X4: Foundations : Amazing game and only getting better now they have had several updates.
Definitely getting ksp 2, starfield, axiom, and falling frontier. Starfield and ksp 2 take priority though, I love *most* Bethesda rpgs and Starfield is something I’ll sink a lot of hours into. Ksp 2 will be early access for those that don’t know. It’ll just be a sandbox experience in the same solar system as the first game when it comes out. Other features will be added over time such as a science mode, resources, colonies, and interstellar travel. Basically it’s big testing and balancing for the base of the game, then when that’s in an acceptable state (or they have the data they need to make it so) they’ll release the next big update for further player testing.
If you are looking for pure complete gameplay, Star Citizen probably shouldn't be on the list. If you are looking for the most immersion, realism, and potential, Star Citizen should be #1 on the list. Every year it gets substantially better. Being an Alpha though, you do have to deal with a lot of bugs on occasion, and some persist for several months if they are low on the priority list. It is still very playable though. The best way I like to look at it is comparing it to real life. Some days everything goes right. Some days everything goes wrong. That being said, I have $520 invested in it and I have no regrets I spent that much. I do recommend having a backup game you like to play at times like right now when we are all waiting on the new update. Ya I could be testing on the test server, but I chose to sit this one out and take a break.
Aside from Everspace 2 which was mentioned in the video, I'm looking forward to underspace, Stellar Wanderer, Haunted Space, Spacebourne 2 and Star Spectre. Check em out
Hi Ant! ive always wondered, what originally drew you to space games? I too am a huge sc fi and space fan and see a kindred soul in you and the content you make. So been wondering how your passion for space and space games first came about. Cheers!
He mentioned system shock from 1994 being a favorite. I'd be surprised if he wasn't a big fan of star control 2 and if a fan of strategy games- master of Orion and alpha centauri from that time period.
On paper, Starfield gets closest to what I was after from both NMS and ED....but it's Bugthesda so I won't be holding my breath. Everspace 2 was great when I played it early on but I'm waiting for it's full release to dive in properly.
I sunk 8 years in EvE Online a long time ago when ATLAS and IT existed in Null-Sec. Until the game got ruined. I even participated in 2 major wars, including the Fountain War. So many people left the game because the game took a turn no one liked, so like me, many retired. I enjoyed my 8 years in Goonswarm null-sec life. Good memories. I wish CCP made a version of EvE Online as single player PVE type game. just a thought. 🤷♀ I miss my Rorquel, Mackinaws, Widow's and capital ships. 😢 Many years later, I dipped my toe in Elite Dangerous. At first I played for a few days, I could not for the life of me jump out of warp and always overshot my destination. It was so frustrating that I stopped playing. Then Frontier did some tweaks and fixes, and I jumped back in after 2 years of its release. Played it a lot until I got my Python. visited lots of planets and stations. Though the game needs lots more of planet content. it started to get boring quickly on planets. Landing on station platforms was a bit of a task sometimes, lucky for the ship landing computer upgrade, it made it a little better. I sunk a lot of time in No Man's Sky, and watched 4 major updates pass through the game, but stopped playing for a while due to work and family as well. I came back and forgot how to do everything in No Man's Sky. Been thinking to start all over from scratch, because I completely forgot how to play the game. So, I continued with other games I like a lot, such as Path Of Exile. Can't wait for Path Of Exile 2, that will be huge. 🥰 Been working at my RL job most of the time now, so work now takes most of my time. I am hoping in Q4 of 2023 things slow down a bit so I can play lots of video games. Since I work from home, I am happy I can surf the net, while also working. Can't wait for the fall and Christmas seasons. Some people are lucky to have massive hours of free time. Some of us aren't so lucky as we have to pay rent and take care of family. Its getting harder and harder to play games and stream and create content, when you are forced to sink 8 hours of work a day, to survive and live. 🤷♀ Anyways, that's my little corner so far. 😋
Ok, Most of the titles all well known, for coming or being out there. But damn..... You gave me a proper suprise with homeworld 3. rised on 1st, and 2nd - can't wait to get my hand on it! THANKS!

Thanks for the info and the pleasant visuals to go along with it. We're going to have a very nice selection.
Wish there were Infinity:Battlescape. Such a cool game but needs more players !
i have that but 10 mins on the clock because there werent any players on when i went to have a look, really sad as i backed it originally but didnt want to play until it was more finished :(
It's in one of those chicken and egg situations.
Well, there was some pretty intense PvP on EU server yesterday...
It's dead because the developers are being greedy and charging too much. Multiplayer only games need to be accessible.
Ixion looks like it will be an amazing game.
Jupiter's moons are some of the best mining locations in Terra Invicta
Kraken: check
A Remake of "Freelancer" would be great. I'm still loving this Game.
Including the discovery mod and yep
A new video is in order because X4 Foundations should be on the list! Especially now with the newest Kingdom Come DLC bringing in the Aquatic Boron, the whole universe is complete now. No other game comes close to the level of scaling from your own ship up to building your own empire.
The X series will always be my number 1 space games
Curious to seewhat the DLC in 2023 will be
The series has tons of potential but is massively held back by the fact that the devs refuse to make a decent UI and AI. These are the two issues that are really holding that series back from swinging it out with the big boys.
If an X series game had friend invite multiplayer, it would pretty much be my ideal space game.
Curious as to why they insist on keeping the UI in such state. A professionally revamped UI is no big deal and brings no harm to the rest of the content…
@@Kartoffeltorte Probably the Boron.
Thank god Starfield is a single player game! I play games to get away from real world a-holes, not to have to put up with them in my off time too. Hell is other people.
Haha lol its a valid point.
Bravo Brother! 👍
I'm with you
Agreed
and it is that attitude that makes the phenomenon you speak of so common...so that others consider you in the same light. and the society as a whole, well...just like ours.
As a fan of Bioshock I always wanted to play System Shock so I'm excited to play the remake.
....IF it ever releases.
Obsidian ant best RUclips channel to keep informed about current and upcoming space games
Great list. Really looking forward to Starfield and Outer worlds 2. I've been following both games and OW2 i'd be shocked to see before 2024 with 2025 being more likely.
Thank You Obsidian.
Developers are allergic to 1st person space games where you can walk around in your ship.
Btw, Everspace 1 was pretty fucking good considering it runs on ps4. But OH MY have I been wishing for everspace 2, it looks so good
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is also coming next year, and if it is at least a graphic and 64 bit upgrade to the original game it will be worth including on a list like this.
@Sins of a solar 2 is already in early acces. So you can allready play it.
@@Sneaker1005 true but it's less than 1/3 of the gameplay product right now definitely not a full release
I bought the Original Sins, the Updates and later Rebellion. Still play the game. Have been waiting for ages for part 2. Sadly they focused on Gal. Civ.
STARFIELD and EVERSPACE 2 for me 😀
Can't wait for Homeworld 3 and Starfield!
I can't wait for sins of a solar empire 2
Falling Frontier seems to be what The Mandate promised to be but sadly never got the necessary funds to finish the game. I will be watching this one.
I really want to see Elite Dangerous refocus on the space part of the game, new ships, new weapons, new modules, new enemies and new locations.
I miss the golden era of Elite Dangerous, which was all about space and flying in it. They made a major misstep by focusing on spacelegs.
Ixion was great, I'm excited for all of these titles! Lets hope they don't get delayed
None of these games allow me to do what I want to do in a space game. 2023 will likely still be Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen for me, with some Starfield sprinkled in
I agree
The KSP2 is going to be huge. The interstellar travel is sure to pull a lot of new players into the game.
I just hope it will continue to be a real simulator and not a shitty arcade thing to get more players
@@XxKidnoffxX I doubt that will happen, since the developers are KSP fans themselves.
It drives me crazy when movies and games depict flight in space as if they are planes in an atmosphere.
If Bethesda screws up Starfield, I’ll never touch anything remotely associated with Bethesda again.
Nice one ObsidianAnt needed an update on things look forward to the next one. Best wishes to one and all 😀
It would be nice to know which of these games will have VR support.
Star citizen will in like 5 years lol
The last great space game I played was Freelancer. I think a reboot of that would be phenomenal. Also, devs need to put in a little more time understanding zero and low G physics. Space ships won’t just stop because you let off the throttle.
one day
So just want to call you up on missing ones as you even mentioned Elite Dangerous. Notable missing ones below:
Astrox Imperium: EVE Offline
X4: Foundations : Amazing game and only getting better now they have had several updates.
I'm betting KSP 2 early access will regardless offer a much better experience than KSP 1 in regards to performance and mod capabilities.
Just gimme Starfield and Kerbal Space Program 2 and I'll be happy.
It would be nice if you had a caption at the bottom of each game you review to show what consoles they will be available on.
Thanks for the video.
Wish there were more combat games. Almost everything is an RTS or some other type of strategy game
Aside from Everspace 2 which was mentioned in the video, I'm looking forward to underspace, Stellar Wanderer, Haunted Space, Spacebourne 2 and Star Spectre. Check em out
@@whoozwah Spacebourne 2 and Star Spectre seem like the only decent ones
@@whoozwah All except Haunted Space looks nice. Thanks.
@@whoozwah don't forget 'spacious space' & the massively under-rated 'fuck! not enough space!'
2023: The number of months before Star Citizen goes beta.
Hi Ant! ive always wondered, what originally drew you to space games? I too am a huge sc fi and space fan and see a kindred soul in you and the content you make. So been wondering how your passion for space and space games first came about. Cheers!
for me it was the visual banquet that was x3 in 2006... amazing for its time
He mentioned system shock from 1994 being a favorite. I'd be surprised if he wasn't a big fan of star control 2 and if a fan of strategy games- master of Orion and alpha centauri from that time period.
Ixion looks sick
and the Sol system map rings so many Galactic Conquest bells, I love it
In 50 years, Star Citizen will be included in one of those types of videos XD
Can’t wait for 2023 to come around! So many of these games look amazing
You know what is NOT coming in 2023?
Star Citizen.
As you were.
Also Space bourne 2 and starship simulator are in my wishlist for 2023. Two interesting little projects!
On paper, Starfield gets closest to what I was after from both NMS and ED....but it's Bugthesda so I won't be holding my breath.
Everspace 2 was great when I played it early on but I'm waiting for it's full release to dive in properly.
Rebel Galaxy is kind of a wart, and old now, but once you get used to it, it grows on you. No pun intended
StarField a single player, I love it already, no ganking idiots.
I was happy to see an Obsidian game.
I just want Elite Dangerous without the damn GRIND, in VR
Good luck with that 🤣👍
Narrator voice: magical. Soothing.
Haha starcitizen, if it ever comes out it would probably be 2050 at least, at the rate they're going
September 🎉
@@urekmazino6800 September what? Alpha version 0.12344555677765444 comes out?
@@xFlow777 games full release
@Urek Mazino loool from alpha into full release in 5 months..... sure, then you gonna tell me that Santa Clause is real also
For me a let down in Starfield will be no-atmospheric-flight
I hope they DELAY delay delay Starfield. I could wait another year or even two. All I want is a clean launch.
It’s Bethesda, so I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.
as much as i wanna play it i dont want another fallout 76, their standards have dropped release after release and i just hope starfield breaks that
@@kgotter You’re probably right - but a man can dream.
@@Blue-2-u agreed
I totally agree with you.
Many years later, I dipped my toe in Elite Dangerous.
Been working at my RL job most of the time now, so work now takes most of my time.
Anyways, that's my little corner so far. 😋
Can’t wait for this video in 2095 when Star Citizen goes live!
don't hold your breath .. :-)

every space sim youtuber: “year+1 gonna be THE year for space games”
I was really happy at first that you didn't mention Chris Robert's ponzi scheme, but I guess you had to. :P
You should see Fragile Existence
Beyond Good and Evil 2 might be out by the end of 2023 as well. Im so hyped for it
I am a fun of x4 foundation I am playing this game for 3 years now the advanture never ends
2023 is half over with and still no new games out for this year.
now is also the best time to play EvE online, a game with ships bigger than star wars SSDs, huge wars, and massive fun!
Please use the word extreme(ly) even more in your videos. Very nuanced and adds variety...
Just want to say thank you for the chapter markers!!
You forgot the Sins Of A Solar Empire 2, a pretty big oversite.
Ok, Most of the titles all well known, for coming or being out there. But damn..... You gave me a proper suprise with homeworld 3.
rised on 1st, and 2nd - can't wait to get my hand on it!
THANKS!
Space games are my favourites. thank you for introduce them.
Man, haven't seen you in a while since I stopped playing Elite. Lol thanks for the update on where space games are these days.
Can someone please tell me what is the name of piece of music that starts at 6:50!!!!!!!!!! All the way to end of this video.
Thanks in advance
Starfield, Falling Frontier, System shock Remake and Everspace 2
Hell yeah
Star Citizen -- 2023. I'll believe it when I see it.
Not a 2023 game, but Avorion is soooo underrated. It's such an addictive game
Dont sleep on Void Crew. Doesn't have a firm 2023 release but thats what they're aiming for
