Some notable inclusions platinum has that sports does not; Sun roof, interior ambient lighting, bigger front dash 12.3inch screen, 360 camera for birds eye parking, electric control to lower 3rd row seats, more premium leather seats with leather steering wheel, matrix led lighting which means you can leave you hi-beams on without blinding traffic, better stereo system, wood grain on passenger dash, option for bigger 21inch wheels if you choose. People currently getting dealer quotes of 76-81k fir sports and 86-89k for platinum drive away.
Just ordered a sport. My issues in order of importance 1) back row of seats don't full go down 2) why is leather seats a "forced" option, a lot of people prefer cloth especially in hot climates 3) option for 5 seats at the highest levels should be there (mostly because of 1&4) 4) same complaint with every car in this class... More payload please But I think it's the best in its class for sure. Why I ordered one.
If you want to kill prado sales, a dual fuel tank with 150 litres is a must, otherwise this just another city slickers car, 18 inch wheels are silly for the bush
No, I'm afraid not. There was a Platinum with the 18-inch wheels and AT tyres, but I didn't manage to get behind the wheel of it this time. There is a chance that the ride quality might settle down a little, but I am not sure - Sam
Great review. Can't wait for my Platinum, pity its likely to arrive May next year ... One question, why is it sometimes I see the left fog light come on, then other times its the right fog lamp...but not both together...... and why they are even coming on anyway....
The fog lights act as turning lights to light up the road when you’re turning left/right. So, when you turn the wheel to the right; the right fog lights turn on and same goes for when you turn the wheel to the left. I don’t think they’ve switched on the fog lights in this particular video. But what you were seeing were the turning spot lights.
there'd be nothing interesting about that. lets be honest this thing would wipe the floor with the rest of them. also the only "fair" comparison would be the mux since that is technically a new gen too, everything else is still prev gen

Test drove a wildtrak ranger, which is very similar to the Everest. The steering is rubbish, like playing a video game, no feel at all. Too much electronic crap to go wrong. Who needs a electronic moveable gear lever? It's a complicated solution to a problem that never existed. No one turns their automatic car off and leaves it in drive or reverse. The electronic park brake is unnecessary too but it has it but it doesn't even release automatically. The electronic dash is terrible to look at too with no option for normal looking guages. The tachometer is a bar line going vertical. I won't be purchasing one for these reasons plus the v6 has been proven unreliable in the US F150 and Ford Australia believes honouring warranty is optional.
Hi mate. That is the question I have been asking on most new ranger reviews. Did they sort out the crankshaft issue? I don’t want to have a premature crankshaft failure while towing a 2.5 ton caravan in the remote. I know F150 dumped the TDV6 after only 3 years, which is exactly the same engine, which they call powerstroke in US. I haven’t see complaints from US drivers about crankshaft issue, but also even the US reviewers admitted it’s a new engine and not sure the long term reliability.
I wish We(USA) got this as the Ford Explorer! I’ve always loved the look of the Ford Everest plus the Ford Ranger has always been a Truck Ford Explorer up until the early 2000’s..

@@davidgollop1718 your joking, surely. I didn't imply why they were discontinued, and I am not a lier. Your getting very aggressive, your game when behind a keyboard. You work for ford or sell fords? Do you work for Ford? Only the foolish make assumptions about others. I bet I have driven more miles in a ford car than you have. I do my research and so should everyone else. It looks like you have a vested interest in Ford. I have only ever owned one Toyota but currently have two fords and owned 4 more before that.

Meanwhile Australia has hilux jammed down its throat, when the tundra /wagon 300 series is the better option.
Doesn’t need ten speed, doesn’t need electric park brake, don’t need seven seats, don’t need sunroofs, don’t need dumb iPad dash and I don’t need crankshaft issues from a company with poor after sales. There’s lots to like but there’s lots that seem like it’s papering over the cracks.

The 8" digital display is garbage. A real fail by ford on this. Every model in the range, or at the very least, Wildtrack, Sport (everst and Ranger) and Platinum should all get the 12.5" dash.. Most new model vehicles across the board are running full digital with plenty of display options, many even going as far as integrating the GPS in the display so its easy to view. Ford came so close, but cheaped out on this part of the next-gen range. its disappointing
