Jerry Rice is the KING of yards after catch. That is why his total yardage was so high. Alot of receivers these days catch the ball and fall down to avoid the violent tackles. Almost every one of Jerry's catches included 5-20 yards after the catch. Its about the 10-15 short yard pass plays in space and the reciever must be elusive enough to gain another 5-15 more yards.
Jerry rice had 11 straight 1000 yard receiving seasons and like 14 in his career. Nobody can mess with dude. It’s not even close between greatest of all time and number 2. Now number 2 and 3 are very close. So many greats to choose from I can’t decide
Jerry's speed was definitely underrated if you notice on John Madden game's his speed is rated 99 along with agility and hands not to mention toughness don't be fooled although Jerry did not prefer to be exposed to a lot of physical contact which was smart when he had to was also one the best ever in catching passes in traffic terrific good job man! defenintley inspired
Michael Irvin never got the ball thrown to him as often, he could've had better numbers. I liked Tim Brown too, quietly caught over 1,000 balls, ~15,000 yds, and scored 100 TD's with no damn quarterbacks.
Even though The 49ers were my favorite team as a kid with this group of guys. BIG 3...... never thought of these guys as a big 3...... While these guys were Amazing. I thought The Redskins and Bills had the trios. Art Monk, Ricky Sanders, and Gary Clark The K-Gun wit the Bills had Don Beebee, James Lofton, and Andre Reid. He might be the reason I’m not even a 49ers fan anymore.SMH!!!!!
Agreed. Rice was no longer the monster he had been prior to the injury. Honestly it took him about a year and a half to adjust to who he had become athletically. T.O didn't really come on to me until 98, Rices last year in SF JJ was never that kind of threat. He was a decent player, though. Id take Rice Taylor and Sherrard over this trio honestly.
This one goes out to Hatch. Just to let you know I was at that game in 1999 at the Metrodome and Terrell was not dressed for that game I remember Jerry and JJ was in that game. 49ers didn't have Steve Young or Garrison Hearst for that game and it was Jeff Garcia's first year with Charlie Garner filling in for Hearst and remember Lawrence Phillips being a back up to Garner. The Vikings put 40 burger on our 49er team which the score ended up 40-16. The Metrodome was always a tough enviroment having to deal with that crowd and that horn but when the Vikings came to San Francisco they could not beat the 49ers.

This was the most difficult to defend receiving core that the NFL has ever seen because of the fact that Jerry Rice alone no one could single cover this guy the same could be said for T. O. as well who was Jerry's pupil and under study that was probably the best no 2 receiver that ever played along side Jerry and with out Jerry was definitely a no 1 receiver on any team in any decade with J.J. stokes in the slot with speed and size made this team a nightmare for secondary's would have won atleast 2 more super bowls easily if the tandem could have stayed together longer!
Randy Moss, Chris Carter and Jake Reed probably the best trio of all time. Love these guys though and I have TO>MOSS due to work ethic. Obviously Rice is the 🐐
Like T.O just told him Hatch maybe part of the big 4 but not the big 3. Which the big 3 on Minnesota was Carter, Moss, and Reed. On the 49ers it was Rice, Owens, Stokes. But if you want to do a big 4 then it would be Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, JJ Stokes, Tai Streets vs Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Jake Reed, Mathew Hatchet. But back in Jerry Rices day it Freddie Solomon, Dwight Clark, Jerry Rice, John Taylor. You think about it John Taylor and Jake Reed are pretty close in age and have almost the same stats as far as career receiving yards and touchdowns. Jerry Rice was Terrell Owens mentor and Chris Carter was Randy Mosses mentor. The Head coach Denny Green was a Coach under the great Bill Walsh so when Terrell said Jerry paved the way for everybody on the show thats no lie.
