You forgot to tell people to add the just the jokes onto the caramel before you added the 2 cans of evaporated milk and I don’t remember you saying nothing about adding the condensed milk or was it one can of condensed milk and one of evaporated milk?🥵
OK, I have to say.... I have searched high and low for the best Flan recipe. This is by far the best video/description and recipie I have found. Some recipes I have used have lead me down a road disappointment. But this Flan has made me look like a star in the kitchen, and impresses my family- they are a tough crowd. Once you try this recipie, you'll be calling Flan, "easy to master". ❤❤❤
So I was not a fan of flan until my Cuban coworker made one. Since then hers was the only one I could eat. Came across your video yesterday and decided to follow the recipe. I used aluminum cake pan and wrapped it in aluminum foil. Used a larger cake pan for the water bath (hot water). Followed the rest of your instructions and it came out perfectly. The flan was not too sweet, which was perfect for me. Only lasted a few hours in my household this morning lol. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe.
Been using this recipe for a year or two and wanted to slip in here and tell you how great it is, i even bought the same kitchen set so it was perfect. I've also been using the same set since, I'm in love with the Gotham steel set it's great 💜
Hey! Thanks for posting this wonderful recipe! We made it using a 6x3 round aluminum cake pan and it turned out perfect!! We made it about 6 times and it was swimming in the liquid and came out easily. I am Cuban American and very picky about flan but I had never made one myself because all of my relatives used pressure cookers. This is truly the most delicious flan I have ever tried!! Thank you thank you!! Wish I could send you pictures! This flan doesn’t last more than a few hours with my family! We can’t stop eating it! Haha
... *WOW AWESOME!* Thank you for your kind words and sharing! Sorry I have been MIA, recovering from an accident but looking forward to the balance of 2022! I love Flan especially Flan de coco. Great idea! Thank you for sharing your channel in my Facebook group. Great channel! Mucho éxito cariño! 😊 I subscribed.
That's great! ...I was wondering where you got the 5 cups of sugar! I just realized that I made a typo it is supposed to be 1.5 cups of sugar for the caramel! LOL, thank you!
I have that same flan pan that you have! I've never known how to use it. Do you lock the lid on while baking in the oven? Have you ever made flan in a pressure cooker? My mom always did but I never learned how she did it.
Hi, and yes, you put the egg mixture in the canister, seal it with the laches, and put it in like an 8X8 baking dish fill about 2/3 with water! As to the pressure cooker, I have had a few bad experiences with the pressure regulator malfunctioning and spraying beans and other stuff all over the ceiling. I prefer slow cooking methods. Even with beans and stuff, I feel the taste is more pronounce with half the seasoning when you slow cook something vs. when you rush it on the pressure cooker. That is just me… give the recipe a try and let me know how it comes out.
Your flan looks delicious. My mom would remove the handle and holders from the pot she used as her mold. It became her designated flan pan. I inherited her pans when she passed away. I put it inside a large baking pan filled with water up to 1/2 the side of the flan dish. Easier to lift out.
@@CubanRedneck My mother would also remove the handle. I still have her pot. I will be making your flan today, she never wrote down the recipe, I wasn't sure about the number of eggs to add but she made it the exact same way.
@@CubanRedneck I am having family over tomorrow for ropa vieja, rice, black beans and flan. This is the flan recipe I am attempting to use and wonder if 1 recipe will be enough for 8 epople or should I double it. And then not sure how long to bake if in individual ramekins? Or should I do 2 separate large flan like in your video? Thanks if you can get back with me before I have to make it tonight.

My oven only shows 260 degrees and I could only fill the tub the Flan pot that goes in 1/3 of the way. Since it’s only 250 degrees and the sustaining water pot holds only one third up? Could I just cook it a bit longer fue to the degrees and the water pot?
…hi, thank you for commenting! If I understand you correctly, your over will only go as high as 260? If that is the case, you are looking at quite a bit of extra time, somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 hours. As to the water 1/3, for the lower temp is perfect, the issue when you crank to up to like 400 that the water level becomes an issue. And please always check the blog where I will do updates after the video is published - cubanredneck.com/cuban-flan-recipe/
My flan came out awesome, people loved it. However there seems to be two types of Cuban flans, once like you showed and the other is a bit Yelp wish and smoother looking, which that’s the one o love. There are a couple of videos on it, so I’ll copy theirs and make them as well. Mine came out identical to yours and it was yummy!❤️👌
Oh! I did leave it at the 250 degrees for like an extra 15 minutes to make up for the heat difference and it worked and I had placed it in a pot with water 1/3 of the way so it felt more heat.
...not sure what you mean by "Yelp wish" but know this, yolks makes it soft and buttery! Whites makes it firm. If you want it a bit more soft you can hold back on the number of yolks. If you want it more firm add one entire egg, white and all! That is truly a personal preference.

What cookware are you using ?
... in this particular video - Gotham Steel. But any over safe saucepan I have made it on my Cuisinart stainless steel set as well.
