- Nine years ago the Oilers drafted the best player in the world in Connor McDavid, who after some tough playoff losses in recent years finally led his Edmonton Oilers to a Stanley Cup Final.

Deboer is 100% correct. I mean Vegas (last cup winner and stacked), Colorado (won 2 years ago, stacked with talent), Edmonton (best player in the world playing the best defense they've played in decades).
That's very tough and the injury to Tanev changed the series.
It’s insane that Hyman referenced the 2006 noise at Rexall because I remember that cup run and that game 6 of the Stanley Cup final when they tied the series was the loudest I had ever heard an arena and I’ve been watching hockey for a long long time lol….Rogers place is definitely just as raucous as ever, incredible crowd.
Well in all fairness I don't think rogers can ever get as loud as the Old Colosseum. The entire building was a concrete circle and sound just amplified and reverberated around. It was 116 decibels in 2006. I dunno if it's physically possible in rogers to hit that. But the crowd for sure is just as crazy.

Thanks, classy Leafs fan! It is crazy hockey, I can't believe they won that with only 10 shots and their PK and defense is just insane...They've been on the PK 49 times in the post-season so far and only given up 3 goals, to Vancouver. 12/12 LA, 20/23 Van, 14/14 Dallas. Insane.

Im a Senator fan from Edmundston N-B, haven't watch a full nhl game in years. But i went to our local jr team games this year at first beacuz my son loved going but i started going with a friend and it really got me back into hockey again. I remember being a kid behind the Senators in 2007 going to the finals against the ducks the feeling is the same here. So glad a Canadian team is in the finals againe, defenetly gona watch the games. Classy, ty Canucks fan! Most of them are mean lol. Vancouver has a ridiculously bright future with Demko AND Silovs who was unreal, plus so much more talent. They got a taste of the playoffs and know what it's going to take, will make changes and do way better next season. I don't want to meet them again lol. And Canucks were the only team to crack the PK so far 3/49. Shut down LA and Dallas.

Seems like Vancouver was the tougher opponent than Dallas. I thought Dallas was going to steam roll them 😂.
I kindof disagree -- I think Dallas is a better team, but I think the Canucks just "got into the Oilers heads" with the regular season. At the begining of the 'nucks series, it was like the Oilers were panicking like it was still October. Something just clicked around the time Calvin Picard had the net, it was like "oh wait, we're the Oilers."
Vancouver is the only team to crack the Oilers PK in the post-season 3 times...3/49 the PK is so far.
Vancouver is still getting 0 respect despite how good they've been. Vancouver is an incredibly strong team, hell I could see them being the team beating Dallas next year.

let's be real, dallas reallyyyyyyy disappeared the last 2 games. you can credit the oilers to a point but dallas didn't start skating until 52 minutes into the game...and that lasted all of about 2 minutes.

I'm a mega Oilers fan, I've watched every Oilers game since 2021 (maybe missed or semi-watched 20)... I was rooting for the Panthers last year, they were monsters... I wasn't sure if they could do it again and get to the SCF but they did it and they still look like monsters... It's really damn hard to bet against the Panthers and Bob losing 2 years in a row but I somehow don't see McDavid lose either as he will play his heart out more than ever. But if we go by stats, more often than not teams have to go to the SCF once and lose before they win, we'll see... either way this series will go to 7 games probably unless a team fall apart then I can see it end in 4 games for the Oilers (if let's say they win first 2 games then go home with a 2-0 lead)
A lot has to be because of Paul Coffee good defense plus scoring goals just like he did as a player the players respect coffee and he is calming on bench with them it's just all a complete unit when oilers practice there pk players play there power play players who better to practice against

Note: I loved florida all season long, and I am an Ott fan first and foremost. If Florida wins, Ott will get a 3rd rd pick for the Tarasenko trade, but I'm still going for the Oil :).
Completely neutral hockey fan -Connor and Stu are awesome people..don't know if Stu is an elite goalie, do not think he is, but he is definitely an elite human being...this Oilers team reminds me of the 2009 Penguins, and the 1991 Chicago Bulls.

What these talking heads don;t get in my opinion is when they compare other good teams going down to Florida. What they don't understand is that Edmonton is a different Animal. you cannot compare that a Mckinnon or a Pastenak being watched or guarded with McDavid. Across the blue line in the offensive end. No other good player can touch him at what he does or sets up over that line period. Yes these players are quick ,they can pass, etc etc..But setting up opportunities? He can't be touched.

Meanwhile with RNH, the natural charisma and down to earth mentality that you see here is a breath of fresh air and represents the people of Alberta; a class act.

Why do the media insist on focusing on McDavid as the only story at Edmonton? Yes, he scored a great goal. But the old Oilers would have lost today's game. They were badly outshot. No, the difference is defense. A better story. A more informed story. Would be the impact of Paul Coffey on the defense of the Oilers. The success of the 2024 Oilers is on defense. Today they won a game with 10 shots on goal. That would rarely happen before this year.

I hate to be this way, but I don't think this series went the right way. Stars were essentially thrown into a battle with the top 3 teams before the Oilers which resulted in long series that beat them up and resulted in injuries while the Oilers played against multiple weak teams (The main reason they almost lost to the Canucks was a Goalie issue let be honest, Oilers are better than the Canucks this year by a decent margin) and got to the Western Conference very healthy. They basically got handed the Western Conference on a silver platter when Vegas just decided to throw that final regular season game which changed the WC teams around (There is literally no reason Vegas should have lost that game). Problem is now the Oilers are going up against the Panthers who have a phenomenal team, I think they are going to beat them in the conference finals especially is Skinner plays like he has most of the season.
