  • My tourist Parkrun quest continues, today we're at Wepre Parkrun in North Wales, about 6 miles West of Chester. Of the 760 UK Parkruns, this is number 4 on the difficulty scale😬⚙️😅More like training for UTMB! One of my RUclips community friends, Reto has a YT channel dedicated to his UTMB qualification journey so please do check out his channel ‪@RunFreeandStrong‬ Being on this course made me realise how demanding mountain trail running would be.

Hi Andy, thanks for the shoutout and support. Great that you're trying a trail parkrun and seem to have enjoyed it. Agree that hill training is strength training and improves performance and speed on flat courses. Wish we had a cafe like Wepre next to the Appalachian trail lol. Thanks again, and congratulations!

@@RunFreeandStrong Hi Reto, thanks for watching, you’re welcome on the shout out, it’s a great journey you’re on😃That was a gruelling course but I just love the variety of the tourist Parkruns. I did Cirencester last Saturday and planning Tamar Trails for this Saturday while we’re in Devon😊

Looks interesting! I'm only around 45 minutes away (Northwich/Winsford) so might give Wepre a go. I struggle to find the time on Saturday mornings with family commitments etc... so have limited my few Parkruns to Northwich, Delamere and Congleton. As you said, would be interesting to do Wepre every now and again and see if there's improvement over time. Thanks for sharing!

@@J0hn.Turn3r Thanks for watching John, they do say that hill training pays real dividends when it comes to racing/running on flatter courses😊Erddig is also a nice Parkrun but it’s fairly flat - apart from the last 250m😬

Well done Andy.. Think I’ll give this one a miss. It could be you did it on my behalf so I don’t need to 🤭😁 Really enjoyed watching you do it mind… ❤

Great video. This isn’t too far from me,, but I have deliberately avoided it because I’ve heard it’s a rough one! I’ll prob take the dog to this one and parkwalk it 😂

@@jenniferharrison1834 Thanks for watching Jennifer, I think you’d enjoy it (sort of😂), it’s so varied and the woods are lovely. Definitely do it before the winter comes though, and Parkwalk is a great option, your dog would love it😃I think we’ll visit one Sunday with Ivy as we often do when I find a nice park😊

@@TheRunningWhale It’s popular because it’s a challenge, lots of tourists there that day. Climbs are tough⚙️. I sold the car the day before and they collected it the following Thursday. Get ready for the Honda Jazz boot reveal😃

This is my local, although I've only done it 4 times out of the 70ish parkruns I've done. It is savage. Whatever time you get on a flatish parkrun, add at least 15%. It always shows up short on my watch as well. Usually around 4.8km. I think it's because there's so much elevation.

@@GarethBlears Thanks for watching Gareth, it was tough but it’s a lovely park😊I’ve just yesterday done Watergrove which is 5th in difficulty of all UK Parkruns (Wepre is 4th). I also did Tamar Trails last week, also monster climbs😂Hill training eh😃

@@AndyCliffMTB I forgot to say that it actually gets worse in the winter if they have to close the bottom loop due to flooding. The winter course starts by the cafe and will have you doing the top loop, the steepest climbs, 3 times! 😱
