Battle reports would be great. The world needs a Silver Bayonet campaign of Sharpe, Harper and the Chosen Men hunting down Dracula before he can complete a secret mission for Napoleon. "Ya bloody Transylvanian bastard!".
Now *that* is the Horror element right there!! *Shudders* bloody Obadiah... Lol great timing on your video- Im painting up some Norman knights as enchanted statues for a al Frostgrave scenario!@@PeachyTips
@@PeachyTips Please do a Silver Bayonet battle report, that game sounds really cool. And with a Sharpe theme? Now, that is frosting on the cake indeed..! 😃
Frostgrave being ''not just a game to sell miniatures but but one to be the best it can possibly be with the miniatures made around it'' is exactly what I have in mind when reading the rulebook. Great stuff!
For the Sean Bean Frostgrave warband, don't forget to add his character from the movie National Treasure. He was a Treasure Hunter, and in Frostgrave, it's all about grabbing treasures.
Great to see you doing stuff that’s not GW! Frostgrave is great fun, but I’m really looking forward to your Silver Bayonet content! Especially your kitbashing! ❤
We have been playing a campaign at my local gaming club for about 3 month. Its been fantastic, we have had some absolutely brilliant storys. From a wizard who throws exploding spoons to a talking horse who casts fireballs from his back end.... Its a great game and so glad you have picked it up.
My favourites include Five Leagues/Parsecs, but I really have to dive into Joseph A. McCulloughs games I have heard nothing but positives, and it's a "Your Dudes/Dudettes" narrative gamers dream come true. Both Five Leagues/Parsecs are Solo/Cooperative games with a very heavy emphasis on allowing to create whatever you want in Sci Fi or Fantady settings. You should definitely check them out for your narrative solo wargaming needs!
Yes, I was going to recommend Five Leagues from the Borderlands and Five Parsecs from Home as well. Ivan Sorensen and Joseph McCullough definitely sit in some of the same circles of the Game Designer Venn Diagram. Their games are different but appeal to the same narrative appetites and miniatures-agnostic DIY approach, imho. Ivan has created so many rules sets it is mind-boggling. One thing Peachy hasn't picked up on since he hasn't played his first game of Frostgrave yet is how incredibly swingy the dice rolls can be, as the game uses d20s. This can drive some people into fits, but I'd encourage you to just go with it. Yeah, sometimes your die rolls are going to be WAY OFF what you needed. C'est la vie. The more you play, the more you will be able to cope with it and realize it's not that big a deal most of the time... unless your Wizard dies. ;-) Which can definitely happen. If you're unlucky it'll be in the first game. Then you get another Wizard or Apprentice and move on. This isn't Mordheim/Necromunda where losing your leader early can really set you back compared to the other warbands and punish you severely for the rest of the campaign. It's less of a big deal than you think, so just roll those d20s and accept the results.
Absolutely adore Frostgrave. The North Star plastic kits are also addicting to buy. They are super cheap, great detailed kits with awesome bits all over the place, and are pretty much all cross compatible with each other making for a kitbasher's dream
Your apprentice: A) casts the same spells as your wizard but not as good B) without an apprentice, you lose an activation round, meaning your opponent activates his wizard and up to three soldiers, then his apprentice and three soldiers, and then the remaining soldiers. In this time, you activate your wizard + three soldiers, skipped the apprentice phase, and then activated your remaining soldiers. That can be rough. C) your apprentice progresses with your wizard, D) if your wizard is killed, you can promote your apprentice to wizard and get a new apprentice. If you dont have an apprentice, roll a new warband So yeah that kiddo is worth bringing along xp
@@samdean1966 Not really, because you are not limited by factions, any character can be on the same warband as any other character. So you can literally choose the models you like the most, regardless of race. Unfortunately, all the models are sweet, so you end up buying them all anyway. 😂
The Frostgrave and Silver Bayonet warbands look INCREDIBLE!!! Absolutely love them! Your figs look incredible in squads - best way to showcase your army painting.

His Rangers of Shadowdeep hooks me as hard as Frostgrave. Such a great author/game-designer who definitively puts passion in his work and want it shared as much as it can be. And the minis ? Such cool ones, and for a really good price. The kind of price where you can try and fail at painting if you start in the hobby, really great stuff overall.
If you like Frostgrave you'll love Forbidden Psalm. Ridiculously easy mechanics (but with a bit of tactical depth), great progression system and a solid solo game. The theme is great too. The best way to describe it would probably be "grimdaft". Well worth a look.
@@PeachyTips I've already painted several crews and yes the North Star minis are great, they remind me of old school GW multi pose. The potential is great, I ended up slinging old infinity models in there too and kitbashing loads of terrain.

Sooner or later, every wargamer comes to Felstad! Glad you finally discovered the joy that is Frostgrave, and maybe have a look at Five Parsecs and Five Leagues as well. You'll love it when you start playing. I've been playing it with friends since 2017 and we still fall back to Frostgrave all these years later. Great game.
Your third warband could be led by a very potion oriented wizard who supplies all their soldiers with lots of useful potions. Every miniature could be laden with bottles and flasks. Due to all the containers they carry, they are known as The Juggz Crew.
As alongtime frostgrave player, welcome to the world of Joe. Love the work you have done so far once you get the first game under your belt there is no going back.

Great video and I really respect your honesty about having been blinkered to what other fantasy and sci-fi games have been out there. Looking forward to more Frostgrave videos and other "indie" game systems. I've been playing Frostgrave on and off since it came out.
I think it’s easy to get wrapped your job and the focus on all things GW, GW, GW, but it’s also so refreshing now I’ve left experiencing all this cool hobby. I feel like Bilbo when he climbs the trees in Mirkwood and gets some nice refreshing clarity lol
Great vid! I’d love to see a video where you tackle a new warband. Coming up with an idea, building and painting and breaking down your thoughts and techniques along the way and also how much time it took you to do it.
Love you Peach, you are a hero amongst men. Would love some content about mesbg, have a soft spot for the original gw lotr stuff you were involved with.
😍🙏😍 well I am a big fan of Lotr and MESBG, so it’s certainly something I will be covering, got lots of games an such to look at and talk about, so exciting times ahead for me
This was a brilliant video. I had never heard of Frostgrave until now. Thanks for the awesome introduction. One problem with making an oblivion soldier warband is that it only takes an arrow to the knee to take them all out😊.
I've been playing Frostgrave 2ed for several years and I LOVE it! So well written and balanced, very quick to learn and all the spell lores are really interesting and have their own quirks and play styles. My friends love it - much more fun and casual and rules light than a fiddly GW game. We've spent so many fun Saturdays fighting over Felstad ^^ Very glad you're promoting this gem Peachy xx
Our mob has being Frostgrave for quite a few years now. Some of us still have loads of older miniatures that make great characters for the game - as well as whatever we like to make and use. Cheers.. great vid :)
For Frostgrave, I got myself a warband made up of Discworld characters. Two of the witches as wizard and apprentice, the hotdog salesman as my alchemist, Susan as my barbarian. I absolutely love how creative you can get with a lot of miniature games. Have you considered a video where you get some minis you like and then find a ruleset for them afterwards? I'm sure we (the viewers) know of a library's worth of games between us
You should check Rangers Of Shadow Deep out, if you like Frostgrave and interested in solo play. Same old Frostgrave rules, with RPG bits for the characters in a series of linked scenarios.
I think that’s a great idea I would also love to see some more interviews with previous game workshop employees. It would also be nice if you could do a collaboration with the painting phase and other channels again and do your panel shows again. I used to paint warhammer years ago but I loved hearing the behind the scenes stories of various channels/ craftsmen.
There are SO many different miniatures games these days which you can use any minis in . I’m a huge fan of Stargrave, and honestly it’s such a good system
Such a great video. Off the back of it, i have purchased the Get Me Started budle from Northstar Miniatures. I am very much looking forward to starting this game and building a board. Thank you, Peachy, for lighting the spark, i would very much love to see more content around this game 🤘
Im halfway through a Frostgrave campaign now. Its an incredible game, and so easy to mix in a ton of head canon and really hit your rpg fix as well as a wargame! Five Parsecs From Home is a great solo game as well.
I love that you're giving some light to Frostgrave! I have a Halfling Enchanter warband! I'm working on a Sigilist warband too! Forstgrave minis, Wargames Atlantic, and Oathmark minis work great together for kitbashing all kinds of stuff. I think good colors for your warband would be Blue and Red! Also, Burrows and Badgers is AWESOME!!!! For Sci-fi, I love Planet 28!
I’ve heard this game is really fun I would love it if my friends would try it out. A magic themed warband sounds so fun. I’ve also always been curious about Oathmark
Great video Peachy! Always great to see someone like yourself championing smaller games! Definitely think your third warband needs a fire or smithing theme. 🔥🍑
I love skirmish games like these that as you say inspire you before you even play a game. Your models always inspire me just as much. Busy with Warcry atm, but absolutely gonna have to finally jump into some Frostrgrave soon
Peachy - go generic so you (or a mate) can try out any of their other schools of wizardry. Or pick a colour palette, make it look cool, & justify the school afterwards 🤣 I love the fact you’re having fun with the full spectrum of the hobby
I love Frostgrave. It was the first miniature skirmish game I played and I used D&D and board game miniatures for it before I made some minis especially for Frostgrave. I also demoed it in local conventions and it was very easy to learn by casual players (I had multiple warbands prepared of course). Unfortunately my friends now play mostly GW games...but I'll try to play some Frostgrave or Stargrave with them.
First thing that came to mind for me when I saw your 3rd Warband with the lighter clothes and baggy trousers was an Elementalist or summoner Warband that travels incognito as circus, bright silks with bold colours and patterns.
Illusionist could work nicely with that background. A proper magician hiding in plain sight as a scruffy sleight of hand artist. A big dull overcoat or robe with bright and elegant clothes underneath.
A silver bayonet mention? That means we're one step closer to a video on epic Napoleonic french. There are 1000 troops in that box peachy, I need army painter expertise to get it done.
The clothes look quite baggy on the 3rd warband, maybe a wind themed elementalist band? Or something focused on light? My idea is since you got good guys and bad guys maybe you can have a warband that they think they're above everyone. Maybe they're trying to claim frostgrave to become the rulers of it and keep the treasures there in safe hands (their own)
I'm here for more videos like this. Also really like how you set up the models for display reminds me of reading the white dwarf army articles back in the day
I play mostly Stargrave and I do want to at some point put together a crew that's more militarized or something, but I like the idea of rag-tag crews. Also, since group activation usually lasts for 2 or 3 rounds at the most, I find it easier to be able to identify who's who at a glance.
Shared this video to a localgame-shop i frequent.Hoping a few-folks' Bite! I would love to o this as a regular thing weekly Love the video, Wish me Luck ole-boy!
Awesome news! I hope they do bite, I’ll be looking at doing some more Frostgrave content soonish, just need to finish up my mini Sharpe silver bayonet series and other random bits
Peachy, my man. On a whim I ordered the Frostgrave 2E book this week and it came in today, start flipping through it, and load up some YT and behold, The Peach himself has a 50 minute video all about it? The universe was looking out for me today. Cheers mate! Great video!
Yeah defo wanna see you do some narrative battle reports. You might not have the flashiest set up, but what you do have is a very different point of view on things. Really enjoying your content.
I've played stargrave before, it's a great game, so I'm very much aware of other game systems (I just ordered the silver bayonet). I do want to try frost grave at some point, and I'm glad to see videos like this discussing these games, this video really helps open up people's view of gaming. Keep doing what you're doing mate!
Joe's games are fantastic, and I absolutely love playing them all! I am also a pretty big fan of Malifaux, as well as Five Leagues from the Borderlands and Five Parsecs from Home. Moonstone is an absolute blast because combat is played out European martial arts sword styles! So much great stuff to play! Thanks for the video!
My favorite minis game! I recommend using the Black Market rules for buying items. I've put all the treasure from all the books in a spreadsheet, and we get a random selection available after each game. Really enhances the feeling of discovery and exploration. Hope to see more Frostgrave content!
I really like the tone of your video, informative, interesting and easy to follow. Friends of mine have just mentioned frostgrave as a possible game for us to pick up and i watched this to find out more. Id watch more content if you wanted to make it.
Loved this, thanks Peachy. As an SBG player i think you may have tempted me to try this. I have been playing Dungeon Universalis solo (Advanced Hero quest spiritual ancestor).
Yes, Frostgrave is a great game! Great video! A few more niche games to check out: Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago (Pirates), Shadows of Brimstone for solo play (based on the Warhammer Quest System), and Freebooter's Fate (Pirates again, unique card based combat system).

Also check out Rangers of Shadowdeep which is the same basic mechanics, but for solo and cooperative play vs bad guys.
Hahaha! Those bloody arrows, well I hope you enjoy it as much as I am 😍👍
😍🙏😍
Our mob has being Frostgrave for quite a few years now. Some of us still have loads of older miniatures that make great characters for the game - as well as whatever we like to make and use. Cheers.. great vid :)
Great one Peachy, glad to hear your input too. Gotten the core frostgrave book and the perilous dark expansion too in the last month.
Cheers 🙌 also loving your RUclips avatar/image 😘👌
@@PeachyTipsThanks, yeah a fellow Daughters of Khaine / Shadowstalkers fan here. Originally playing Dark Elves in WHFB
Id love to see a series of battle reports around the war bands you've made
For Frostgrave, I got myself a warband made up of Discworld characters.
Ooh amazing! I’m super chuffed you enjoyed the vid, and that was a decent bundle too.
And certainly more frostgrave/Stargrave etc to come
Im halfway through a Frostgrave campaign now.
Thanks, and these are some great suggestions thank you
I’ve heard this game is really fun I would love it if my friends would try it out. A magic themed warband sounds so fun. I’ve also always been curious about Oathmark
Thanks for the great intro to frost grace. It’s made me want to dive into it. Just ordered a load of kits to mess around with it!
Amazing! I won’t lie it’s quite the rabbit hole to fall into 😂😂😂
Had some great adventures in frostgrave with friends…that’s what games should be about really isn’t it
Definitely do the single player battle reports. What an awesome idea. Great video!
Great video Peachy! Always great to see someone like yourself championing smaller games! Definitely think your third warband needs a fire or smithing theme. 🔥🍑
Thanks bud 😍🙏😍 and thank you for the warband suggestion too 🤘
@@PeachyTips also be honest Peachy, is the real reason you prefer oblivion because of Sean Bean voicing Martin Septim? 😂
@@James__Vhahaha! And Picard voicing Uriel Septim
Or pick a colour palette, make it look cool, & justify the school afterwards 🤣
I love the fact you’re having fun with the full spectrum of the hobby
This video has inspired me to introduce this game system to my table top friends. The idea of building a custom crew of lads is amazing!
Fantastic news 👍👍👍
Anyone shocked, anyone? Peachy has a sharpe war and 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Much love and respect mate 👍💯
😂👍
Frostgrave is one of my favorite tabletop games. I’ve played through a few campaigns and each has been lots of fun.
Yes! Not GW games! Frostgrave is amazing 😍
That would work. I was thinking a Bandit Witch and gang and a lot of greens and browns for colour.
Love the effect on the book, and definitely saving it for future reference! And love the Frostgrave coverage in general.
Fallout Wasteland Warfare Settlement Mode using solo rules is pretty good for making stories
I really liked this deep dive and listening to your breakdown!
🤗 fanks
If you can find the Pirates version of Frostgrave (Archipelago) it's a great adaptation, loads of potential for boards, war bands etc...
Love the video Peachy! Really enjoying you doing deep dives into more niche game systems and models.
Well I have more to come!
A silver bayonet mention? That means we're one step closer to a video on epic Napoleonic french. There are 1000 troops in that box peachy, I need army painter expertise to get it done.
I’m a big fan of Oblivion too, would love to see the town guards you painted! Also really like the battle report idea
I should look to doing more stuff for oblivion
The clothes look quite baggy on the 3rd warband, maybe a wind themed elementalist band? Or something focused on light? My idea is since you got good guys and bad guys maybe you can have a warband that they think they're above everyone. Maybe they're trying to claim frostgrave to become the rulers of it and keep the treasures there in safe hands (their own)
I'm here for more videos like this. Also really like how you set up the models for display reminds me of reading the white dwarf army articles back in the day
Hey thanks 😍 I really enjoyed getting those images created, I’m chuffed you liked them
You can tell the man comes from Warhammer by the fact his warbands have colour matching uniforms...
Hahaha! Fair point…..I also think that’s the visual symmetry nerd in me too lol
Hero : I will avenge my brother!
Warrior : You have my sword!
Ranger : And my bow!
Peachy the Necromancer : And your brother!
😂😂😂
Frostgrave is just insanely gooooood!
Definitely need more barbarian love in this game 😂🙏
Peachy, my man. On a whim I ordered the Frostgrave 2E book this week and it came in today, start flipping through it, and load up some YT and behold, The Peach himself has a 50 minute video all about it?
The universe was looking out for me today. Cheers mate! Great video!
Well that’s the galaxy telling us it’s a great time to get into Frostgrave then! Amazing comment 😍🙌😍
For the wizard and Co you haven't done yet. Elementalist earth in turnip28 style, great crossover video!
Yeah defo wanna see you do some narrative battle reports. You might not have the flashiest set up, but what you do have is a very different point of view on things. Really enjoying your content.
Peachy , check out the game Burrows and badgers it's so cute and awesome as well .... small skirmish game with loony wild animals
Important question…..can I have Hedgehog knights?
@@PeachyTips I know there is hedgehog witches , so there probably maybe knights as well lol
SOLD!!! ❤❤❤
@@PeachyTips angrybadgers with 2handed axes or pirate beavers :) as well
I've played stargrave before, it's a great game, so I'm very much aware of other game systems (I just ordered the silver bayonet).
I do want to try frost grave at some point, and I'm glad to see videos like this discussing these games, this video really helps open up people's view of gaming. Keep doing what you're doing mate!
Thanks Robert, I’m loving discovering all this stuff too, my creative juices are in overdrive right now
I didn't come here for the clickbaity title and the big red arrows. I came here here to bask in the Peachy glow.
🤣🤣🤣
Joe's games are fantastic, and I absolutely love playing them all! I am also a pretty big fan of Malifaux, as well as Five Leagues from the Borderlands and Five Parsecs from Home. Moonstone is an absolute blast because combat is played out European martial arts sword styles! So much great stuff to play! Thanks for the video!
Great video Peachy. Awesome to see games like Frostgrave getting some love.
Thanks for the suggestions! I be checking them out for sure, or at least adding them to the ever growing list 🙌🙌🙌
