    The system and arithmetic get a lot smoother and easier after your first few games. Once you get the hang of the rules and don’t have to think about them so much it becomes so fun, all the crazy stuff that happens with magic and monsters make for great stories

      Yeah, that's always the hardest part.
      If you really can't find anything the solo supplement bluebird mentioned may work, or I would also HIGHLY recomend Rangers of Shadowdeep.
      Same designer and very similar rulset, but it's a solo campaign game based around a ranger and his warband rather than a Wizard in pvp

    That barrow wight conversion really works. The whole warband is pretty boss, in fact.
    Frostgrave is great, but I prefer Rangers of Shadowdeep. It's by the same author and the rules are almost the same,you pretty much already know how to play. The major difference ( besides playing a ranger instead of a wizard) is it's narrative co op instead of competitive.
    It's worth a look if you liked Frostgrave.

      Yah i get that, it's wild how much using d20s alone makes stuff WAY more chaotic

  • @rangda_prime
    @rangda_prime Месяц назад +1

    It's not the best skirmish game. It's a mediocre resolution engine propped up by a very good scaffolding of the campaign system and scenarios. As in, the set up of the whole thing is very conducive to getting a fun campaign going, but the rules themselves are based on the fickle D20 while the actual window for success in very narrow, meaning your stats are kind of meaningless compared to the need to roll high numbers. Which again is dependent on the fickle granularity of said D20.
    Your minis look great, and you can have a lot of fun with Frostgrave. But if you want a game with really well designed rules for the actual on table action, go have a look at Trench Crusade by Toumas Pirinen.

    • @AndurzTalksHobbies
      @AndurzTalksHobbies  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah, i was surprised by just how different it felt using a d20 vs a d6, like i get it in concpet, but you really FEEL it when playing.
      And may give that a look!

    I really enjoy your content but you always have to add stupid comments like that one about Crusaders where you paint an entire group of people who existed close to 1000 years ago as "bad" because of a false narrative that has been pushed down our throat. It is your channel so you are allowed to say whatever you want but these comments have to made intentionally to upset people.

      As someone with a history degree, no it's not a false narrative.
      The majority of the soldiers of the Crusades were not especially tolerant of other faiths and ethnicities.
      And that's something that is bad, and since contemporary people like Roger Bacon pointed this out in the actual Middle Ages, they were aware and knew better.
      I'd suggest reading some history books.

      @@breandan3280 As someone with a history and archaeology degree, that is a bold and unfounded claim, you cannot speak for long gone people and many sources do not speak unfavourably of diplomacy between Europe and the East, Frederick II's court was filled with arab scholars and byzantine remnants. The largest source of contentions outside of battle was unrest in the outremer.

    Well .... very interesting what you've done assembling a warband, BUT in the title you are asking if Frostgrave is the best skirmish game, which is what interested me and you've ignored this completely. So, sorry buddy, for me it's a pointless video.

    • @AndurzTalksHobbies
      @AndurzTalksHobbies  15 дней назад

      Sorry it felt that way! The hobbying and warband assembly is a pretty key component to FG as a game imo which is why i spent so much time on it. Then once I'd actually played it, i was pretty honest about how i felt about the in-game stuff as well, ending with the fact that it wouldn't replace mesbg as my go-to game, so... that feels pretty conclusive that while i like it, it's not the best skirmish game...
      ...so... i think i did answer the question honestly...
