    We planted just one city light lavender pink dahlia from a nursery pot in early April in North Carolina. After the 4 blooms died off, the plant grew wider and wider with no new blooms but lots of green leaves. Filling up the spaces in our butterfly garden. Don't know if we should trim back some of the green leaves or wait and see what happens. It is now early summer and temperatures have reached 85-90 degrees on some days. What do you think we should do? We are fearful it might take up too much space. Thanks

    Noticed several varieties displayed weak stems and necks causing the flower heads to droop down. Do you think that was due to growing conditions or varietal genetics? If you are growing for cut flowers, this might be an important consideration.

    • @HookedandRooted
      @HookedandRooted  Год назад +1

      Hi there, My vegetable garden where I have them planted, has been losing sunlight over the last few years due to some growing trees casting more shade. I do believe that its possible that they aren't getting as much sun as they should be. Also, we had a very hot dry summer, and they could have used more water. I just grow them for myself, and gift some flowers as bouquets. I agree, it could be an important consideration if I was selling them. Thank you.
