Great video Volokin!!! I have never seen anyone explain this subject any better. The demonstration with the older sliding phones was a stroke of genius!!! Your point here is well taken. It would be rash to dismiss these sliding phones just because of the sliding mechanism itself!! As you pointed out, many other parts of the phone will probably wear long before the sliding mechanism!!! It is pretty obvious that you know your stuff!!! Have a great day Sir!!!

Thanks for this! Some tech youtubers just want to be nitpicky at things. I think most people nowadays keep their phones 2-3 years max. Also today’s slider phones have minimal sliding involved so I think it’ll last even longer. The main problem with sliding phones would be their durability when dropped, I guess since the screen panels are thinner.

Me too but couldn't afford it.
I bought it and to this day it was one of the most satisfying phones to own.
I think the satisfaction came from hearing the slider opening and closing. If anybody came out with that again I would be willing to get that as my backup.

No idea. That notch and especially the slider really surprised me.
I have seen a foldable phone as concept, and to be honest it sucks a lot. Maybe projectors or dual-screen phones (dunno which way). At first I was thinking if there was a normal screen on the front and another one on the back of the phone, displaying or doing something else. Not sure. But questions are: where would be the front cameras and the earpiece? Have no idea. It's a bad idea, right? A second idea is if we borrow another mechanism from the past - like we did with the sliding mechanism - making the phone opening like a book and make two screens, one at the bottom and one at the top, with the top screen having a slider mechanism for the front cameras and the earpiece, or just a notch. The top screen would be mostly focused for the front and rear cameras and the down screen would be your normal one, and that's it XD Dunno how much interesting would this seem to someone, but I'm a bit afraid that with this way the phones would have a ridiculous size, close to that of a Nintendo Switch. We could keep this and adjust this mechanism including another slider mechanism for the down screen which would transform the phone to just a slider phone somehow.
Edit No.2: Perpahs a slider phone with two screens that could extend and then transform to a book phone and vise versa. There can be many ways.
