Using an ORIGINAL MOTOROLA RAZR For a Week in 2020

- I used an original Motorola RAZR for an entire week. With the new 2019 Motorola RAZR just being released, I thought that I'd go back to my roots and use an original Motorola RAZR for an entire week. It also gave me a much needed break from social media and made me realise how much of an impact a smartphone was having on my life. Using a flip phone brought back a lot of memories and nostalgia for me as well. That iconic clamshell phone snap when you shut it was very satisfying. I'm kinda just rambling now to get keywords for this description. Motorola RAZR V3 2020!?! Surviving without social media for a week! You get the idea.
Thanks for watching

That's right. Back when we were in high school we didnt pull it out every 5 minutes or while standing somewhere
I am looking for a Razr at the moment, as I am getting tired of smartphones with all their unnecessary apps and features, and besides, the Razr is so retro and it is making a huge comeback, which is so awesome!!
L get depressed can not talk to people or anything
@William Scott You can find a legit one on Aliexpress for cheaper
@William Scott That's a totally valid approach! Also thank you for the reply it was a really interesting read! Cheers from Portugal!
Oof uh I recommend getting a Alcatel LTE flip phone 😅
Unfortunately original Razrs no longer be activated anymore since they have 2G and 3G which will become obsolete
Soon, all phones which aren't at least 4G will be just bricks...govt has to to know our location every second
I honestly think humanity would improve if we went back to an the era where these were the best you could get. People are living through screens now and truly missing out on real life.
This video should be on every news channel showing how smartphones constantly eat up our time! Great job man and I can relate to every single thing lol. I still have my OG RAZR V3
I love this phone! My very first phone when I was in middle school. Thing was a beast took a huge beating being dropped almost every day and several accounts of water damage it survived. Definitely my favorite phone and lots of memories with it.
Just about to order one, I need a smartphone detox. Good job of the video 👍.
Thanks man appreciate it! Good luck haha
I need this phone
From where can i buy it ???
@@gtatrilogylivestream5809 You can find some on Ebay and other sites as well.
About to go pick me up a razr…glad to see I am not the only one trying to do a defaming/social media detox…. I can see this trend popping up more in the future …..let’s see if I can make it a month without smartphones
And did you do it?
@@jessicakathrein5261 haha no I went an got a shorty flip phone …but managed to curb my smart phone addiction much faster now in much more control of it 😜
How do these even get signal, considering the old 1G and 2G networks have long been shut down, and even 3G in some areas?
From what ive seen on other channels is the phones sold in those blue boxes can often times be fake, especially if the post said “refurbished” bc no one actually refurbishes these phone professionally
Yeah but in those days we had cha-cha. And I'm sure many kids reading this now are like tf is that. You literally texted this number and asked it questions and they'd always reply with an answer weather it was a math equation or the score of Monday night football. Lmao it was awesome.
After that we had to “ask jeeves” until Google became a verb!
What I did was call a number called 1234 that did the same shit
My grandpa would always call that number and say sports college basketball Purdue every time
Great review mate. This phone was so awesome when it first came out.
Nice video man, you got a new subscriber!
Thank you, welcome aboard!
Damn so neat. I wished to had more footage of the phone in your video. Good to see you've unlocked new features in life :))
Your phone has been around since 2006. That battery is ancient as sin.
If you want to upload something to social media, figure out how to log in on your laptop with a password.
2G and lower still works to an extent in England
I just got a razr v3 in perfect condition, except for the battery, which was the original battery from the time it was bought. im looking for a replacement batter, but I am very happy with it. I just deleted tiktok off my iPhone, and turned off my iPhone, and put it away. im using the razr for the next week, maybe two. just to get rid of my dependancy on modern technology. I found my old mp4 player again, and put some music on it, and im all set to go, and very excited for the next two weeks :)
Isn’t that a 3g phone? How are you still able to call and text?
What service provider can you use
Tmobile supports 2g until 2024
How is it about calling and messaging? I wanna buy and use it, did you face any call dropping on delay in text sending? Plz reply.
My first phone was a Sony Ericsson yellow flip phone Gf768. It was elite, cuz texting was a new thing in 1998. 😂
I'm about to embark on this adventure for three months. I have a laptop like I did I 2005. I'll be fine.
I tried to use a newer Alcatel flip phone (until the keypad died from too many texts) for a couple months. While I'm back to my smartphones, (Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6s) After the flip phone, I mostly use them for playing music and using the browser at work to load schematics. That's it. Hardly use 'em for much. They mostly stay on charge at home. I aren't even interested in a modern smartphone as they seem to have less features (no IR blaster, no headphone jack, and way too big!) for higher prices. Seriously name one thing my Galaxy S5 can't do that a modern iPhone 11 can? I don't even care about cameras. A smartphone will never replace a DSLR
Smart watch (for necessery apps and messengers) + this phone - and you dont need a smartphone anymore :) At least I hope so, I'm yet to check this formula.
Can you call from it in 2021?
Yo did you actually get service?? Like could you actually make and received calls?
Yeah everything worked perfectly! The only thing that didn’t was the internet functions.
this is so cool. i don’t have any social media except for youtube, i like watching youtube videos.
i have thought so many times of getting a flip phone and just living simply, but my job and life now makes me have to have a smart phone. they want me to have the app to clock in, my email, ugh it’s so annoying!
i wish i could have been born earlier. but i do try, not having social media for 5years now, i just feel so free.
I tried to do this but when I put my sim card into the razr it comes up with check sim while in my iPhone it works fine. Any advice? How did you get yours working
The Razr uses a mini SIM card. This is a larger size than smartphones use these days. You can buy an adapter to make the size fit: www.walmart.com/ip/SIM-Card-Adapter-Nano-Micro-Standard-4-in-1-Converter-Kit-with-Steel-Tray-Eject-Pin-2-Pack/572250145
The other issue is that your Razr needs to be locked to the same carrier as your smartphone. So in the US at least, you can swap the SIM if you're on T-Mobile. It won't work for AT&T, Verizon, etc. If your Razr is unlocked then you can get around this although the SIM card still needs to be from T-Mobile. Your SIM also needs to have been activated at least a year ago because the latest 5G SIMs aren't compatible.
Soccer Var I have already got the adapter but I’m assuming the actual chip plate not the card is smaller. Whether or not they still sell the old style chips is what I need to find out hopefully
@@meggdowney4806 The chip should be the same just shape is different. I just bought a kit that I could put my sim card in to make it fit the old phone. As long as the phone isn't locked to a specific carrier it should work :)
@Megg Downey I have the same problem, i have the adapter but it just keeps saying check sim
@@TheJacksonField how do you know if it's set to a specific carrier ?
One thing I want to know is does it have the holes in the corner like the original one?
I dont know how to explain this, but remember with the old ones we could attach a string and hang it around our necks?
I want want to use this phone as a keyholder so i call my keys when i can't find them
did you get service connected to the phone? what carrier did you use? thanks!:)
nevermind! saw you used telstra in another comment
oh dang is that service only in australia lol
As long as the phone isn’t locked to a specific carrier it should be fine :)
im gonna buy one and use it... even if i have to find some super weird service or mod it to accept 3g lmao
theres an AT&T/Cingular version of the V3XX if youre in the US
"Uhhh it's got poo poo on it"
Continues to scratch it off with his thumb 🤣
😂 I couldn’t help it I was curious!
I've had one since february and my life hasnt changed much. can't send / receive group texts or photos but i am now sick as fuck
What service provider?
This was my dream phone before I enter High School.
Always wanted a Razr when I was younger. Ordered that b!tc# for 30 bucks like it was a toy lmao
i had one when i was growing up. it was awesome. :). i loved my razr. :).
Lol searched to see if anyone else done same, that’s how I came across this video. 😄 Ordered a V3 yesterday so I soon as it arrives I’ll be ditching my iPhone. Spending too much time scrolling without a purpose, can’t have that anymore with a baby on the way. Chose the V3 because up to this day, is my favourite phone ever. Had 3 of these back in the day and the last one I used it as recently as 2014.
how will it get service?
I see you took the convertible to work today.
HAHAHAHA
I miss this good old phone!!!! I could tether to my laptop with cable or Bluetooth and use as a modem before they knew how to bill for 3g data….
I could txt in my pocket without looking or anyone noticing
Opera browser was great
If I could have this same physical unit with wifi and 4g I would use this and a tablet and be sooooo much more satisfied. Remember folks smartphone technology have been around since the early 90s “…but nobody wanted it….”
Shut up old man.
its good enough for calling and texting .... its a phone you dial someone answer and you guys called to each other .
Where do i get this phone?, i want to buy it can you help me
How did it even work..? It’s like a 2g phone. Only 4g/5G are supported now
you get 2g still but its slow as fk
my dad has his OG one and it's T-MOBILE too!!!!! If I can get a prepaid I could use mine too
Anyone know how I can use a Cingular v3i today? What network can I use it on? Or how I could get it unlocked?
Nicholas Nasti well it depends on the location in the uk it will be easier try ringing the provider look american and the only provider that will work on this is t mobile
I also have the exact same razr as you, but purple.
It’s even locked to Telstra, it’s the same thing, but *purple*
and also complete with the poo in the keys
where did you buy the phone?
either ebay or amazon
eBay, didn't take too long either!
Dude radio? You were supposed to get an ipod with that razr.
no I use to have that same phone and if the battery was low it would take like less than 10 min to fully charge it
Hello ! I bought one as second phone. How do you set special wallpaper etc ? :)
I am planing for a long time now to buy a regular old mobile phone just because my smart phone is taking so much time from my day so wish me luck
Do they have RUclips?
What service did you use for the phone I am having a hard time finding one that works with the razr v3, mine is Verizon
I recommend getting a Alcatel Go Flip V or Orbic Journey V. Because Razr V3 have older technology, it is no longer activated anymore so I recommend getting LTE flip phones such as Orbic Journey V and Alcatel Go Flip V.
I have the volume cranked up and can barely hear you when you talk quietly. Consider that area for improvement. Otherwise great!
Does it still can be use the whatsapps apps??????
Awesome video bro ‼️‼️ I tried to do this myself but with my old Siemens CL 50 flip phone that don't have a camera and not even a color display (although it has two 😉) but it didn't work with my new sim card for some reason. Anyways, good video and being without a smartphone for a week is definitely something more people should try every once in a while...
Without iPhones how did we ever take a poop back then?
wow pls saan poweding maka bili niyan now pls
where are you guys buying these phones😭😭
ebay
I wish I had a phone like this again. Buttons.
You can get one for pretty cheap
@@chickpea Mmm.
@@madcat789 did you get one of those button phones ?
@@veliahtprenses2673 You mean an old flip phone?
yes
Maybe I should do this challenge and see how I go
The last 5 seconds of the vid 😂😂😂
How are people even using these? There's no carrier that supports 2g. Is there? I wanted to use mine but there's no way in the US.
The v3xx is 3g
but that was shutdown in 2022
@@Zeroneii3 yeah they probably did that to force people to upgrade devices lol. They are going to do it with 4g eventually too.
@@D4RKxHOR1ZoN I was looking into the v3xx because of nostalgia
I wanted to daily it, only to discover it would be impossible to get service
I don't understand how do you just survive with a flip phone it's easy just live your daily life go to work pay your bills pay your bills
carrier?
Telstra!
nice video!
Watching on my Moto RAZR v3
How you got RUclips on V3
Just bought one because I'm addicted to my phone and I need some time away from it!! 😂
omg i need this phone!
The phone only really charges with its original charger that it came with so, yea. Kinda shitty design but what ever.
The cat photos on the phone. That was sly humor. How much did you pay for that toy?
Another sub in ur channel

*It's a phone, lol!!* The original reason for a cell phone was for safety and convenience - that's it!! All the extra crap that they started piling on later is garbage and serves no useful purpose. And if you want gps, get a dedicated gps unit for your car. You can do everything else on your laptop or pad. And you'll save some money, considering the ridiculous prices for cell phones these days! Actually, I tried to get service on my huge, Motorola phone that's the size of a brick, but the battery didn't take a charge anymore and they don't make replacements either.
*Simplicity* young lad, simplicity!! Simplify your life and you'll be much better for it!!
I haven't watched tv in 11 years!! What for?? I get all my news and movies etc. at home on either my pad or laptop. TV just sucks the juice out of your brain and leaves it a shriveled mess!
The biggest crime is that mustache 😂
Haha the good old days
VOLUME TOO LOW
lmaoo oh no I just got mine and the first thing I did was play a bunch of tetris HA
Where did u buy?
I did 200th like
fuckin tetris man hahahhahahahaha
Dislike for burping
Fair.
That razor as a fake there is two cameras the razor only had one
There was more than one model of the Motorola RAZR. The one I’m using is the V3XX which does have two cameras.
@@TheJacksonField I did not read the description properly sorry It’s just because I have one and I thought it was a fake
Fuck it, huh. Bye.
Fake RAZR
Zzzzzzz
🤣🤣🤣😂😂 you little git.
