Thank you for the wonderful video. I'm a Japanese essayist. The name is Mikan Oshidari(忍足みかん). I am writing a book called [I want to stop being a slave to my smartphone]. I was addicted to my smartphone, so I switched to a flip phone. It's for mental health. I'm really glad I made it a flip phone. Being a slave to your smartphone is tough. But as much as I love flip phones, I have some concerns about them. I wonder what will happen if flip phones are no longer produced. In this video of flip phones in 2024, flip phones cannot be bought in Japan, but I hope flip phones will be reevaluated and become popular again. In Japan, the latest flip phone called [Mode One Retro 2] was released at the end of last year. I hope that flip phones become more popular worldwide. Flip phones have become popular again in America, and I hope that trend will come to Japan as well.
hey man, long time smartphone user. about to switch to a dumb phone too. while i dont speak japanese id love to see a future translation of your essay! seems like all across the world we are starting to abandon these smart slave phones and go back to deliberate tech usage
I bought the S22 flip for my 80 year old dad and he loves it. The big buttons designed to be used if you are wearing gloves makes it easy for him to use. It also has a large multi-function button on the left side of the phone which I assigned my phone number to for a panic button.
I have owned the Kyocera DuraXE LTE Flip Phone for over 5 years and have enjoyed it immensely. Very rugged and can use any carrier out there with an unlocked phone . I use Pure Talk with no problems. Additionally, there are some hacks to add apps to your phone. Everything I need.
I bet for next tech - tober there is going to a major shift in aesthetics of phones. I would totally ditch my iPhone to get back the smaller form factor of a flip phone. I got myself the Nokia 2780 and love it! The LG Wine and Samsung Smart Folder were such a head of its time! I wishing for a revamp on something like those phones making a return. Half keyboard, half smart screen or touch.
I have this 2780 its so cute and way way better then the iphone13 pro max. I have had a few people say I sound clearer on it then the 13!! I love the whistle it makes when I send a text. I recommend the 2780 Nokia so refreshing to be away from the apple nonsense.
it's not a nostalgia thing, it's a wellness thing. I didn't grow up with a flip phone. I just want something that is just a phone so I know why I even have it in my hand. I'm tired off having a "phone" that is also a media streamer, music streamer, camera, gps, storefront, debit card, etc. It does a lot of things but not nearly as good as things MEANT for that purpose. I'd rather hold a phone and make a call than pick up a computer to call somebody but end up doing 50 other things because my notifications and social media tells me I have to respond right away.

As a matter of fact the Nokia has truly appalling battery life compared to its forebears and both Alcatel and Doro. 'Classic' Nokias could run for about 4 days with sparse use and had a low battery alarm. The 2780 is apparently hampered by KaiOS, which is tricky to set and runs apps in the background. Battery depletion frequently leads to answering a call only to find a notice "In low battery mode" and it will not allow further use without a few minutes of charging, then one charges to full later. This only takes about 30 minutes but the lack of an actual accurate battery charge status indicator has led to many people in Europe changing to Doro or Alcatel. Foldables are not "flip phones". My god, this is like calling a donkey a "horse". A better comparison is like reviewers nowdays calling a 6 inch screen phone "small".
The Kyocera is kind of a flop, gliches a bunch, shuts off or freezes out of the blue and the buttons stick a lot, the Samsung Rugby 3 was the best flip phone ever but 3g is gone...

Like my comet effect, ham.
where can I buy Nokia 2780 Flip here in philippines?
2023....and all they can come up with on a flip phone is a 2mp camera. Seriously, guys, do these people think we are all eight years old?
Is this AI generated speech?
Foldables are not "flip phones".
My god, this is like calling a donkey a "horse".
A better comparison is like reviewers nowdays calling a 6 inch screen phone "small".
I want the kyocera and sonim sadly not available here In the Philippines
The Kyocera is kind of a flop, gliches a bunch, shuts off or freezes out of the blue and the buttons stick a lot, the Samsung Rugby 3 was the best flip phone ever but 3g is gone...
I can use it in my country (i'm Việt Nam). Thank
ALOHA & MAHALO~🤙
Can they record sound ? Like a speech or something
However I love flip phones
Dude left out the most important thing--can you dictate txt mssgs, google searches, weather/ stock mkt queries, etc?? If not, don't buy. The keyboard is impossible (slow, slow, slow labor/ aggravation). Even dictation won't work to make comments in youtube (slow, slow, slow). Also helpful: can you listen to ytube & vlogs when phone is closed in your pocket?
how can you even include a phone WITHOUT hotspot????
I hate smart phones. Always have, always will.
😎 flip phone
A price quote for each phone would be great.
Is nokia 2780 available in India?
These phone prices are stupid. Why would I pay $250 for a dumb phone. Iv never even paid that for a smart phone. You need to do a list of phones that aren't ridiculously priced
You're a broke poor person... stop looking at things u can't afford . Go
WhatsApp is a big selling point for me. Do any of these phones have the ability to run that app?
I would like to know if any of these flip phones have parental controls installed in the settings?
Nope, they don’t have the capacity to have parental controls since they can’t access Google play and don’t have them pre installed either.
