Just ordered a flip phone, a Cat S22. Should be VERY interesting. Will keep my phone to use as a computer almost, plus some social media, but I intend to do a LOT less on that phone and do more "real life" connecting, especially for political change.

I bet for next tech - tober there is going to a major shift in aesthetics of phones. I would totally ditch my iPhone to get back the smaller form factor of a flip phone. I got myself the Nokia 2780 and love it! The LG Wine and Samsung Smart Folder were such a head of its time! I wishing for a revamp on something like those phones making a return. Half keyboard, half smart screen or touch.
I bought the S22 flip for my 80 year old dad and he loves it. The big buttons designed to be used if you are wearing gloves makes it easy for him to use. It also has a large multi-function button on the left side of the phone which I assigned my phone number to for a panic button.
That left button sounds really useful!
Is he able to download apps. I want a basic flip phone but I want to be able to get like my bank apps things like that

I have this 2780 its so cute and way way better then the iphone13 pro max. I have had a few people say I sound clearer on it then the 13!!
I love the whistle it makes when I send a text. I recommend the 2780 Nokia so refreshing to be away from the apple nonsense.
I`m using the CAT S22, and it`s working fine on AT&T.
I have owned the Kyocera DuraXE LTE Flip Phone for over 5 years and have enjoyed it immensely. Very rugged and can use any carrier out there with an unlocked phone . I use Pure Talk with no problems. Additionally, there are some hacks to add apps to your phone. Everything I need.

As a matter of fact the Nokia has truly appalling battery life compared to its forebears and both Alcatel and Doro.
'Classic' Nokias could run for about 4 days with sparse use and had a low battery alarm. The 2780 is apparently hampered by KaiOS, which is tricky to set and runs apps in the background. Battery depletion frequently leads to answering a call only to find a notice "In low battery mode" and it will not allow further use without a few minutes of charging, then one charges to full later. This only takes about 30 minutes but the lack of an actual accurate battery charge status indicator has led to many people in Europe changing to Doro or Alcatel.
We agéd Nokia fans who used the lovely 2270 years ago are bitterly disappointed. Nokia is supposed to be working to fix the problem but it is no longer based in Finland and the Chinese manufacturers are snail-slow.

I just want my old life back. I’m gonna turn this smart phone off after I score one of these flip top’s. I spend way too much time on here. I think most of us spend too much time on here. It affects my sleep cycle, I’m more agitated and just plain stressed out over all this information I’ve absorbed. Hell I hardly ever talk on this phone. It’s mostly texting. Those flip tops gotta have a model that doesn’t have any bells and whistles. Generic as fuck. I’ll be happy with that. I’m so glad I finally killed my TV. God, TV isn’t what it used to be. It’s all ads now. Everything and everybody is for sale. It’s becoming too crazy.

catt s22, I'm an old-school flip phone user, I could not find a way to retrieve my messages, could not do the voice-to-text (which it's supposed to do), takes freaking forever to boot up, and a good 8 hrs to charge but it's supposed to last 3 days, such a tiny screen making it impossible for me to input any phone numbers much less text

The doro flip phones are tough and great for anyone who wants louder, easy to use. And works brilliantly across Europe.

@@sidensvans67You are right, most of the phones presented here, such as Sonim, Kycera and others, we Europeans should not be interested in, they are all for the American market for Sprint. so I'm not interested in those brands at all. Do we all live in the USA? CAT can, but it only supports one sim card.

Ok, but the point of getting a flip phone is so that i wont have access to youtube, chrome, google play, etc. Are those apps things i can delete permenantly from the phone? Or just disable?
Sadly 99% wont work on Europe's networks. Nokia still uses KaiOS and 5G wont work. Its because it consumes more battery.
Would be nice if those Flip Phones had whatsApp. I need a durable flip phone, big user removable battery. And must work on EU networks.

My mom has an iPhone that is still locked bcos my bro who gave it to her forgot the pin, she uses it to watch YT vids or take pictures and vids. She also has a Samsung a12, that she don't take with her outside unless she's carrying a bag. I'm thinking of buying her a basic Nokia so she would not be scared to take it out in public. Nokia phones now have features that I like pre-smartphone era, music and Nokia radio app that can be connected to Bluetooth which I can't to my Samsung A04. 😅 Nokia will dominate the mobile phones again now that people are loosing their marbles bcos of AI tech.

I need to know which phone doesnt allow the volume buttons to work while phone is closed, my grandpa has a tendency to press those volume buttons accidently causing the volume to go down or on vibrate keeping him from hearing his phone.
The Kyocera Dura XE phone offered through Verizon, the third from last reviewed, has volume buttons on the side but I have yet to figure out how to change the volume while the phone is closed. This drives me crazy! But it may be exactly what your grandpa needs. It is pricey, though, for a flip phone.
I would opt for samsung flips that's fixed on choice and taste and it's not gonna change so😎✌️

There's a Samsung Galaxy one that went on sale some year ago on south Korea, it's a flip and táctil phone, you can have Netflix and games so I'm supposed you can also have Uber but they're a little difficult to find at least here in Colombia

Ok, I did a research and if you are in USA there are some Japanese flip phones that work pretty good with maps so I guess it also works with Uber, but you need to do a deep and better research to confirm if it works for the necessities you have, and also someone that sell it and delivery there, in reddit are a lot of information and I know somebody can also help you ☺️

The Kyocera is kind of a flop, gliches a bunch, shuts off or freezes out of the blue and the buttons stick a lot, the Samsung Rugby 3 was the best flip phone ever but 3g is gone...

Nokia flip does not have kaiOS3.1 in India. They launched Nokia 2660 flip phone without kaiOS. Nokia 2780 not available.
