    Actually I asked for the Class 91 options 🙋‍♂️
    Was looking for them but it seems like they were gone except sometimes on ebay. I think they are only re-releasing the loco and the DVT this time, since the first new tooled ones were bought by people who wanted only the new features of those, headlights and whatnot. The coaches are still around with some of them marked down a lot, which was good news for me.

    I guess we have to blame the Beatles cars and loco on Ringo for his stint on Thomas the Tank engine because it is the only connection they have with trains. FFS Ringo! Great update, Jersey Bill

    Those black 5s are the 2024 brand new tooling ones with the working headlamps, smoke generators and DCC sound etc and one is the capriotti valve gear variant which has never been produced in ready to run before this year

    The fans of Bradford Exchange and Royal Doulton will be happy with the Beatles tat.
    It's the people who are left this rubbish when the dust collectors pass away I feel sorry for. Either lump it to a charity shop or pay for a skip, expense and hassle either way.

    About 250 quid for a single Class 91 power car and about 70 quid for a single L.N.E.R. Gresley coach. I've long been a defender of manufacturers for charging what they do when there are so many costs to cover but it's got to the point now where even I can't defend these outrageous prices.

    • @TrainFan_95
      @TrainFan_95 12 дней назад +1

      When coaches reached 50 quid each in price I ruled out purchasing any new ones. 70 quid is ludicrous.

    • @User-3O3
      @User-3O3 12 дней назад +1

      @@TrainFan_95 Yes, it is. Is it even about the costs of manufacturing anymore or is it just a matter of greed? Still, as long as there are some chumps out there with more money than sense that will keep paying the prices, that's all the justification Hornby needs to keep charging the prices.

    Entertaining but well informed video as ever - appreciate your hard work. Given the financial position I think Hornby has done more than expected for 2025 also with Airfix and Scalextric - seems to be some really positive responses. They should do the TT120 HST in Midland Pullman livery since it would appeal to modern day modellers and it can be seen away from mainlines.

    How do people not understand the production of Beatles models? They’re clearly selling, and there’s a demand for them. Simple economics. Supply and demand. They even stated this on their live Q&A. It’s not just railway modellers that want them, there’s a massive market of Beatles collectors too.

    The only thing I liked was Hornby in GER blue. As never got in GER blue before. It is two of my favourite trains in the world next to the T3 at Swanage. Specials as North Norfolk railway is 50 years old this is open back in 1975-2025. Would love if did the GER grey as well nice to have two liverys.

  • @TasRailwayfan

    The B4 model should be described as "based on" rather then a model of, but, it is following on historically from the old triang shunter model, which was based on an old southern C2, but much enlarged! I think it's a nice looking loco, so it will join my collection of shunters, and probably end up in the "altered" loco s as well?

    Hornby only do 2 or 3 liveries on every train so they can re livery them for a few years to bolster the range. As opposed to anyone else who does atleast half a dozen liveries.

    I am glad that you were not too scathing but instead were reasonably fair. Personally my favourite is the blue J15 and I like the pseudo B4 even though it is only an approximation. I agree that the previously announced Flirt is a good move. The pricing of the Pullman HST is staggering though. One thing: is not the Black 5 you mentioned as being an old model actually the retooled version from last year?

    • @philbartlett7898
      @philbartlett7898 7 дней назад

      Sadly the cheaper end of Hornby is approximations. I was really looking forward to the Bagnall.diesel a few years ago, but is just a passing and totally unrepresentative resemblence to the real thing. Surely as a model manufacturer you should produce accurate models

    I know you find the Class 423 announcement boring, but I’ve actually been waiting for the Network South East version to come out, so for me that’s great. Already own the SWT version and it’s a good model.
    Regarding the Class 43, there’s always plenty of people asking for new liveries or previous liveries but on the new tooled sets. I for one am wanting the Swallow livery. I know many people keep asking for the Virgin livery etc.
    For me I couldn’t care less about the majority of steam engines, but I know others only model in steam.

    You are aware one of them is Reverend W Awdry, I think everyone would want to get that one.

  •  13 дней назад

    Somebody must be buying Beatles stuff? Otherwise, would they not just drop them? Or is it more complicated, with licencing and stuff? Like when bands are contractually obliged to make another album. Sometime business things don't make sense in a normal way, and sometimes not even in a business sense!
    I like the look of things this year so, far - the only thing for me is that much of it doesn't exist yet and is just CGI images. The Deltic prototype is still not out yet as far as I can tell.
    I thought the Greater Anglia 755 FLIRT is an interesting addition. They run these all over round here in East Anglia. However, at the thick end of monkey, I am not sure I can afford one.

    The 91s and dvt are not that great a model and definitely not worth the asking price. The Accurascale 89 will be a much better, and cheaper model. Hornby ended up flogging the first 91 batch for around £100 a year or two ago. I suspect this new batch will end up the same.
