There is no one paying your bills so don’t justify yourself to anyone. Remember you are Gen X. and you do you and you’re not being selfish. My mother raised us girls after my father was killed and she did one hell of job and she raised us with the mentality of “no one pays your bills so you live your life as you see fit and also you will face your consequences of your own decisions”. I am enjoying life as a grandma now and I am grateful I am done raising my kids.

I will be 60 years old in November this year. I have never been married and I have no kids. All my siblings were married or are married and have kids. Did I want to get married and have kids? Sure, but that was not in God's plan. His plan was for me to take care of other people's children for years. If I met someone later in life and married that person, then that's great, but for now life is being single and okay with it.
That's true: I agree that if someone is single, it doesn't mean they're less of a person than someone who's partnered up, or that they're a failure in life. I don't believe my singleness somehow devalues me as a person; on the other hand, I'm not happy being single and I don't know how I can change that. I’m a gen-x guy (50)… and honestly, I’m surprised you are single. If you’re good with it cool. Like I get that whole it’s my turn thing. I’m happy for you that you’re taking some me time. That’s good. However, I can take a two second glance at you and know that you wouldn’t have to be single if you wanted someone. Don’t take those comments too seriously. I’ve found that most of the time nasty people are, deep down- deeply insecure. Keep posting stuff, I will keep watching. 😊
Gen X or not , we have seen this song and dance before. You know when women are happy, they are not on the internet telling people that they are happy. The older we get the more we seek companionship even if it isn't marriage. We all need someone to share life with the closer we get to losing it. Life is about giving of yourself to others before you move on and accepting what they give you. Empty nesters that are together with someone else get to start a new phase in their life that allows them to explore new things and enjoy life and have someone to share it with. If you don't have a companion, try and do more with and reconnect with family and friends. We all need help as we age. I wish the best for you in the future but learn to be true to yourself and don't believe the BS that society feeds you about being a strong independent woman. Father time and the wall have never been beaten but neither has true love shared with another.
I would like to hear from the man or men who bred you to have these children. What do they say happened? Only a fool decides after hearing one side of the story.
