    still cant beat the portability, performance and built quality for less than 1000$, especially you can get it around 700$!

      exactly! that's why you can't sleep on the M1 if you are on a tight budget

    Thank you for this video!! I'm thinking of purchasing one in your link. I have an iMac 2019 and it was going super slow for a few months until it gave out on me. I upgraded the RAM to 62gb, but while running google chrome, zoom, or fcpx, it will randomly shut off. I dont know what to do about it, but I need to edit and need a new computer asap. Would this laptop uphold my usage as a primary and traveling laptop for video editing? Would it also work well with a large external monitor when working at home?

      @ReachFilms  Год назад +1

      Yes, depending on how complex your videos are this may work great for you!! My only recommendation is, if this is your main computer, at least go for 16gb of ram. As for an external monitor will work great! It just only supports one external monitor

      You could get away with 8gb because I know that one is on sale heavily BUT as a main computer it is going to get outdated in the next year or so if you don’t have the 16gb

      At this point in time I would not recommend the base model as a main computer. It’s best as a travel companion to your desktop Mac

    I just don't get it... If someone will buy an M2 Air and just bump the specs to 16Gb Ram and 512Gb of Storage just to enjoy a decent performance, why not buy an M1 Air and also bump it up to 16Gb and 512Gb storage at a LOW PRICE. The M1 and M2 Air has so little difference in performance and M2 Cost a lot more for just a: 0.3mm additional display, magsafe, a full size function row and a new design with a notch.

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  9 месяцев назад +1

      The big thing is the good deal is only on the base model, when. If you are going to use this as a main computer having only two ports is a bit limiting and having the MagSafe port on the M2 is one of the biggest benefits over the other stuff you mentioned. Also once you start upgrading the 2020 m1 air the m2 with the same upgrades isn’t much more.

    • @Bintoy143
      @Bintoy143 9 месяцев назад

      @@ReachFilms With regards to the ports. I always think that the M1 Battery is so good it will last me a full day of work. So at night I will just charge my M1 and not worry about it dying on me by tomorrow. That means that both ports will always be available. So MagSafe will always be a good choice when someone trips your cable while charging but when you secure your Mac while charging this won't be an issue. So for me it's a nice upgrade but it really depends on how you use your Mac.

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Bintoy143 it really depends on your use case for that. It sounds like the way you use your MacBook Air that may be the case. But def not the case for everyone. A good example is when I was editing advanced videos on the Air it died after a few hours on battery. I really needed to charge it a bunch because of what I was doing so the ports were a problem. Now doing the same tasks on the MacBook Pro m3 I actually get something like 8 hours of battery life before I have to charge doing advanced editing. So again it’s more about how you use the computer first and foremost than after that it can guide what is best for each individual.

      @@ReachFilms when someone do what you did on your M3 MacBook Pro, that means M1 Air should not be your first priority. I totally agree that it really depends on how you use your MacBook. Especially how you use the ports on the MacBook Airs.
      I'm just saying, if you're like me who can get through a day without charging my MacBook Air. M1 Air is really a good choice, especially if you bump the Ram to 16Gb and Ports will always be available all throughout the day. M2 has its pros and cons but it will cost you more if you really want to enjoy faster data speeds like the M1 and also future proofing it to 16Gb Ram.

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  11 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure where you are going with this? No one is saying it’s a big deal, the point of the video is how does this stack up as a base model after three years, since apple silicon has substantially improved since the original release

      @@ReachFilms and how is this stacking up as the base model such a big deal? I man laptops are supposed to last 3-5 years. I mean i am not able to understand where you are coming from and whats the purpose of this video when apple laptops generally perform decent for 5 years

      @@karanmalhotra97 bro are you really commenting like this without watching the video? Apple changed their base models after the first M1 MacBook Air, the change makes the base models slower, pushing you to not get a base model anymore due to the performance difference of not having 2 SSD vs only 1

    • @karanmalhotra97
      @karanmalhotra97 11 месяцев назад

      @@ReachFilms Sadly I have seen the video and there's not much value addition honestly. M1 256 is a base model, apple is not changing anything. Stop confusing the audience and in fact M2 SSD is slower than M1's. Literally please read before you type and confuse the audience. Also nobody is changing base model; it was earlier coming with 256gb storage still comes with 256 gigs storage. so stop confusing

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  11 месяцев назад

      @@karanmalhotra97are you kidding me??? Do your research please, in the first M1 Apple used two 128GB SSD for the memory which makes the computer faster with swap memory storage. On the M2 moving forward they just used one 256gb SSD stick unless you upgrade the memory.
