I’m watching this because I’m currently waiting on my m1 MBA to be delivered and I’m a bit nervous about owning a laptop that’s 3 years old, but yeah I think I made the right decision. I’ve been going through shitty windows laptops and I’m so sick of it, they don’t seem to last me longer than 1.5 years because I’m clumsy, and then it’s always a hassle to find someone that has the parts to do a repair because there’s 1000s of windows laptops, at least with a Mac I’ll know if I do break it Apple can help me.
@@TechbyParkerquestion? What about updates? Assuming the rate of apple it should get updates till 2027 so after does that mean it could get viruses easily?
Just replaced my 2015 base 15“ MacBook Pro with a used M1 Air (16/512). Getting used to the screen size, but that thing still flies! was close to pulling the trigger on an 15“ M2 Air but couldn’t justify basically paying double the price of the Air.
Thank you so much for this video @TechbyParker! I'm watching this video even that it has almost 3 months since you published it on RUclips. I couldn't be happier with it or maybe yeah! This MacBook Air M1 base config is replacing my old but still good looking condition MacBook Air 2017 that I used for everything until now, for finishing my major in engineering and starting my MBA. Now this new MacBook I'm gonna use for the same purpose, basically tasks such as web browsing, video calls and videoconferencing, editing documents, sending emails, but also for coding in Python and R for Data Science as well as everything for my second degree in Big Data just because it's light weight, wonderful performance and battery life, best bang for my buck which by the way the offer I got in Costco Wholesale was insane! $649 USD brand new! For heavier tasks for coding and a little bit of 3D modeling, I have a Mac mini M2 Pro. By far I can saw that spending only some hours with this laptop it's been a really great experience!
I mainly stream and do iMessage and got a base m1 MacBook Air. The screen and battery are standout features. Speakers are great and the build quality is first-class treatment for sure. You won’t find a better laptop for like 90% of people under $800 unless they have poor eyesight and gotta have a giant 17” screen on their laptops.
I just bought one, and the edge close to the track pad is very sharp and Hurts your palm if you're using the track pad for long periods, yes I know buy a mouse, but just saying, that's the only flaw so far
How far in the future? Not sure but I bet this will stay relevant for years to come. And even if you can stop updating it, web browsing should work just fine.
taking in consideration that apple always launches a new iOS, is it still worth it buying the m1 in 2023? Because probably it´ll only get the next 2 or 3 updates whereas the m2 is a newer laptop so for sure you'll spend an extra few hundred dollars but you won't have to worry about the updates.
I think there’s some truth to this, but I don’t see the M1 becoming obsolete for at least 5 years. Newer tech should become more and more future proof.
m1 macbook pro is really powerful. If you get the pro version. Don't get the air. It will get a lot of updates in the future. Get the sixteen gigabytes version of the m1 macbook pro.
@@TechbyParker the Air will only last thew common person a year. 8 gigs of ram is legit almost nothing no offense intended. U can only open 15-20 chrome tabs and a light coding app at that point.
