By popular demand, welcome to this Let Her Go Guitar Tutorial by Passenger! I've finally done it! This is probably the most requested song I've had but because of its complexities I wanted to make sure I took the time to make the video as useful as possible and also to show simpler methods of playing that tricky intro. In the video itself i'll be covering 2 different ways of playing the song. When passenger plays the song live he tends to stick to just fingerpicking. The studio recorded version has a combination of the two though.
1. Fingerpicked version
2. Strummed Version
At the end of the video i'll have a full play-through of the studio version which uses a combination of the 2. I also have a guest vocalist singing on top for context, she's a fellow you-tuber. Check out her youtube channel below :)

@@someoneonyoutube1993 I wouldn't recommend it, then when you play an Eminor, you'll lose your low bass note. Also the G chord would have a new shape. I mean, yes you could technically - but it's up to you.

You have to push it to the side rather than to down straight with the guitar to follow the natural shape and position of your fungers

Dear @GuitarZero2Hero, this song was at my grandmother's cremation and I loved it so much. Because the whole meaning was right, if I loved her I had to let her go. I looked up how to play it on guitar, and I found this video. It took about 7 weeks until I could get it all the way at the same pace! I just want to say that you are a really good guitar teacher! break ur thumbs first my guy, it hurts playing guitar lmao
after breaking your thumb a lot it stops hurting that much. And its good practice for other songs like hey there Delilah which also destroys your thumb
If Fmajor7 hurts your thumb practice the Bare F for a time and that thumb will not hurt at all it will be comfortably numb.
I just don’t use my thumb

If you have difficulty using your thumb when playing the Fmaj7 it's helpful to tune the the 6th string up a half step to F. Just be sure to play the 2nd Fret for the G6 and avoid the 6th string for the Em.

good tutorial thanks, but I have a Problem with the f major chord where you need your thumb to hold the 6 string.

I played with my capo on the wrong fret and it sounded weird. Once I changed it to the right one, it sounded beautiful. Thank you so much 🙏 it took me two weeks to learn this though 😂

The most fantastic guitar tutorial! I love the way he teaches every pieces of the song with great structure and it's quite easy to follow for a beginner as well especially to learn the rhythm . Loved following the fingerstyle in details however I modified the rhythm quite a bit. Its easier that way ;) Thank you!!

I like to learn a fingerprinting pattern now and then and your tutorials are perfect for that! Not too hard and not too easy. Even though teaching yourself via RUclips can be tricky, I'm always flying proud of myself for sitting down and learning some beautiful melodies!:)
