  • I built this saw for this guy / @billylacount6608
    He'll be using it for a light weight chunk out saw from what I understand. Can't wait to see how this saw turns out when it's dialed in and has some real run time on it.

    Great saw. I have a 350 I just built and broke in.
    For it's size and weight it's the best running saw I've ever cut with.

      I actually bought another one, used, for myself. They're usually found pretty cheap and side from being able to endure harsh physical abuse, they make good power for their size!

    Currently the saw I’m after. Grew up running one and just rebuilt dads. I want to get one myself and turn it up. I have a echo 590 for decent sized wood. Now I want the 350 so I can have a lighter saw that I limb the trees with. Going to save your videos on this build so I can try to replicate it. Thanks!

    I've had a 350 for 14 or 15 years now (early on heeded the warning to keep the muffler bolts tight so that it can't wiggle itself loose and strip them out, but that's not a hard fix). Love the little saws out of all of the inexpensive mid grade saws. They have OK power (compared to pro saws -they have enough to do well as long as the chain is sharp and set right) and are really comfortable to run.

    • @samishsawworks5870
      @samishsawworks5870  3 года назад

      I totally agree with you. I'm rather fond of them myself. Especially for the price point used. Did you use a modified 346xp muffler bracket on yours for the muffler?

    I love my ported 350. They cut better with .325 chain. I grind the teeth and tie straps to increase chip clearance.

    I had one of these and im thinki.g about looking for another one to build. Is that 24" a small mount husky bar, or was it adapted to fit?

  • @markvergara2874
    @markvergara2874 3 года назад +1

    I have owned a husky 350 for years. Still have the 18 inch bar on it but haven't gone to the 20. Have no mods on it and its not ported. Would a 20 inch bar still allow it to run just as strong?

    • @samishsawworks5870
      @samishsawworks5870  3 года назад +3

      Depends on the size of wood you're cutting. A longer chain is going to take more power to run. It's just the reality of it. If you're just looking for a little more "reach" I think you'll be just fine. If you cut bar length wood consistently, you'll notice a difference. If the majority of cutting you do is under the maximum bar length, say 16" and under I don't think you'll notice a major difference. Especially if your saw is still running the factory .325 pitch chain. Unless you have the bar buried the whole time when you cut, I wouldn't think twice about it!

    How much did you take off of the flywheel key for the timing advance?

    • @samishsawworks5870
      @samishsawworks5870  2 года назад +1

      .020" or About 1/3 of the key. Enough to advance the flywheel 1/4" at the outer edge of the flywheel if that makes sense.

    • @crazykincardineite
      @crazykincardineite 2 года назад +1

      @@samishsawworks5870 makes total sense. I picked one of these up the other day, and I was pretty impressed out of the gate. Did the base gasket delete, muffler mod, and dialed the carb in. I want to do the timing advance yet, and 1/3 of the key has always been my go to. Tried getting the flywheel off once already and it didn't want to come off. Have to try a bigger hammer.

      @@yotaismygame yeah they're awesome. My favorite lightweight saws. I've done a handful of them now. Like all small saws they're tiny and cramped to do port work on, but totally worth it in my eyes. Nice punch in a super small package. I have one I run a 24" 3/8 LP setup on that is my go to for a lightweight saw. If I can find them around $150 I snatch 'em up. Most in good shape sell for $200-250 around here.

      Haha! No it wasn't. Almost every saw I work on gets about 4-5 hours worth of full disassembly and deep cleaning in the parts washer. Then a good polish. I just can't handle working on dirty saws let alone having them go back out the door that way. Don't think for a second I have anything against running filthy saws though haha. I have some great runners that look like Hell!
