    Congratulations for your new gecko! Remember never to use sand for the tank because it clogs their lungs. What's worst is that, if you feed it crickets on the sand; the sand will stick to the cricket and when they eat it; the particles in the sand will irritate the mouth of the gecko and give it mouth rot. Always use dirt and coco fiber to keep them hydrated.

      hes not even using sand so this comment is very unnecessary.

    i would recommend to make sure he has the right vitamins and supplements. what i do is dust my crickets w vitamin powder and not my mealworms. i got a bottle cap and put a little bit of calcium powder in there so when he wants it he can just go up and get it.

    #1 Leo’s should not have a uvb light they are nocturnal so they don’t need sun/it will burn them as well
    #2 ik your Leo is an adult by now but you shouldn’t keep a baby Leo in that big tank it will stress them out so I recommend to just put baby Leo’s in a plastic ben
    Lastly #3 You should put more into that cage like branches from a pet store or something because Leo’s normals don’t climb but they surely will if u let them which will also be great. :)

    Wow! Your little guy came out pretty early!
    It took mine a whole month and 2 weeks to get used to me simply being next to his tank.
    Now he is a sweet and friendly thing.
    However he still can't find the worms in the bowl for the life of him

    So the origin of this gecko is he saw a weird 2010 video saying leopard geckos are the best.
    Whatever, it's a leopard gecko, its amazing

  • @whathasmylifebecome9033
    @whathasmylifebecome9033 7 лет назад

    Put a heat pad under his warm hide to provide belly heat. Also, geckos don't need extra UV light and there should actually be a colder more moist side of the tank for shedding where the moist hide is. If you do keep the lights, take one away so that there's a gradient decline in temperature the further down he goes in the cage. This prevents "stuck shed" which seals the geckos mouth and eyes shut.

    Please read this, when he gets bigger give him "gut loaded super worms" because that's a good source of protein, crickets don't do anything for them and are basically just a snack, make sure to calcium them about every other day. You may already know this but, uvb's don't do anything for them besides helping their color stay vibrant and pretty, their heat pad is their primary source of heat because they absorb heat through their bellies. And please remember not to use sand because it can kill them. Thanks for your time, I hope this helped :)

  • @SmemilyJemily
    @SmemilyJemily 5 лет назад +1

    1 he needs more hides
    2 I recommend hanging leaves
    3 he needs a heat pad NO HEAT LAMPS they can burn their skin they take heat in in the belly
    4 his heat needs to be around 85-90 I suggest 85 until he gets a little bigger
    5 be sure he gets a few crickets it’s basically a salad to them (worms are perfect at that age)
    6 you did the same thing I did when I got one just make sure to do these things it’s kinda required (not the decoration or food stuff but definitely more hides they need one on the cool side one on warms and one on the middle and a shedding hide on warm)

    • @Lilymay829
      @Lilymay829 5 лет назад

      Actually, heat lamps are perfect, as long as they have a cooler hide.

    A tip: Try not to use the carpet for the ground... the geckos claws can get stuck on it also it’s hard for it to get cleaned. I know it’s ugly but the best is paper towels. You can clean it faster and it has no problems with it. Don’t need to follow what I say just a small tip.

    I would recommend getting a heat mat instead of an overhead light. Heat lamps can actually harm leopard geckos. Also, that tank is WAY too big for that tiny leopard gecko.

      kol beb Leopard geckos prefer heat on their stomachs, not produce it. He also has reptile carpet, which absorbs the heat and provides heat on their stomach, if he used a heat pad it would burn through to much and hurt the gecko. You can tell from red marks on feet or belly.

Usually it just has calcium inside.

      XxAnimal loverXx a heat mat, not a lamp. I recommend dry eco earth or a bioactive substrate so they can dig, it’s more natural.

    I have a question, would using a heat lamp and a heat may be too much for a leopard gecko? I’m getting one next week and I need to know :)

    • @ellen4583
      @ellen4583 5 лет назад

      Tia Junkert hey! I have three :) so. You can use the lamp during the day and the mat at night but both is too much at once.

      It’ll also help them develop a sleep schedule as it’ll be like a night cycle

    Hello, I was wondering if the heat may if you are using said it was a U.T.H (under tank heater) because if it is than it should be underneath the tank. And also leopard geckos don't bad because light hurts their eyes, they are very sensitive to light. I would highly recommend to get rid of the light due to the health risks of the gecko. And I would also let you know he should have a bowl of calcium powder, they eat it the way it is right out of the bowl. As a leopard gecko owner I hope you take these tips and precautions and use them to you and your geckos advantages. Good luck!

      I meant heat mat in the first sentence and bask instead of bad in the 4th sentence!

    Just a heating pad should be good for Godzilla because leopard geckos take in heat from their stomachs

    I would highly recommend you put more things in your tank like fake plants 🌱ect( also hope you have a heat mat and thermostat) , try to let him chase his food in order to learn how to hunt , you also need to dust his food in calcium and vitamin and minerals , idk how u didn’t know that 🤣😜

    I want to do a story time onhow I saved a leopard gecko from a petco. She had so much stuck shed , she was so skinny, and she looked so bad, I dont have a picture because of how much time I spent researching about mbd and parasites and I had to go to like 3 vet checks and I was spending so much time on her health I didnt have alot of time to do picture taking, yk. I really wanna do a storytime on her story and the experience but I dont feel like it'll get much. I dont wanna make a vid if it wont go anywhere, but yea. I wanna share her story

      You could try a ceramic heat emitter instead of a lamp. They don't emmit light, which is good
