- [868] Ride from the edge of Veghel to the centre of 's-Hertogenbosch aka Den Bosch (the Netherlands).
Recorded Wednesday 2 June 2021. More information in the blog post: bicycledutch.w...
I notice how smooth the surfaces are and the quiet, except when the mopeds go by, and the general lack of motor traffic noise! Sitting here in the UK I am extremely jealous of your country and its attitude towards people and people who want to ride bicycles. Keep videos coming they are excellent and help to show what can be done.
Funny, because I was thinking just how much you could hear the motorway/main road on the other side of the canal/river at one point. The bike was practically silent though.
leuk filmpje mooie route
What a country, no polusan, no traffic, no sound of many people's, but new delhi. My my my lord have mercy on us and over government people, new delhi india full of mass.....
Wonderful video sir, keep sending
Regards
Richard James New Delhi India
@Joyce D yes sir you are right, but not much population lick new Delhi.... And there is no rods for cycling...
Yeah, Netherlands is the best place to bicycle as they have separate lanes for bicycles. In New Delhi you have to mostly ride bicycles on the main road along with the merging traffic as there are very few places which have cycle lanes and where there are cycle lanes you can notice that two wheeler scooters often encroach upon them also, thus forcing cycles to share their lanes with them. It is indeed hazardous to ride bicycles in New Delhi.
Thanks for another sweet ride in the Dutch countryside. Smooth trails and smooth camera work! I had one moment on the rollers where I turned left with one of your turns and had a sudden unplanned exit from the roller. Always funny. People in all levels of Dutch government and the Dutch cyclists of all stripes, types and colours deserve a lot of credit for creating this wonderful infrastructure!
It’s perfection. If I lived in a country with somewhere like that I would go riding every day and maybe lie on the grass next to the water for half an hour or so before leisurely continuing on with my ride.
What i do numerous times a year, most times alone, some times with friend(s), a drink, some food.
Yep, that's the life for me.
Love that the cycle paths are completely separate and not directly next to motor traffic. Cleaner air, less noise, less stress.
This is the perfect therapy...just fabulous 😍
I really like the advisory bike lane roads with the red asphalt coloring. It allows the road to be narrower while still prioritizing and making cycling feel safe. Also it looks really beautiful. Around here the roads are much wider but somehow are still worse for cyclists despite having a large budget for said purpose. It all comes down to design.
Every video of the Netherlands makes me disappointed and angry with my own city for being so incompetent and so car focused it feels dangerous here, it makes me wanna move to the Netherlands.
mooi stukske gefietst!
One of your prettiest ride.
Wonderful enjoyable scenic ride. I thought for awhile that The Netherlands had finally banned the little loud smelly scooters, but sadly not true. At least, not yet.
There will be a time that these scooters will be electric in the near future.
Leuke video! Vanuit Schijndel neem ik ook vaak exact deze route. Lekker rustig en groen. Terugweg wind tegen :-)
💪
Gewoon stug doortrappen. 😉
Annyira klasszak a holland bringautak. Felejthetetlen.
True indeed! Love 💗 this! Do this to the rest of the world!
Tired 🥱 people don’t understand the future!
@@burtisaac1000 The future is built by choices. The dutch made theirs.
@@mourlyvold7655 hmmm 🤔
@@mourlyvold7655 No disrespect at all. Just a thought on my mind. You are right, something to listen and ponder 🤔. Also, how long will you last to ponder 💭 ?
@@burtisaac1000 No offence taken, sir. I just thought I'd give you my two cents.
In hindsight, I may have misunderstood your comment.
Tell me if you think I did, please.
As to pondering (which I rather enjoy): I've got some years left, thankyouverymuch...
(ps: what's the meaning of that last icon?)
Wuow is mooie Den Bosch
Thanks for the ride. What about a bicycle ride through Abcoude?
Even after 30 sec of cycling, my legs already feel done. However, I could only cycle for 10 min w/o a break. I could drive for 3 hours w/o break, but I am currently learning
It will get better quickly if you cycle more frequently
I can go hours without my legs showing any sign of exhaustion, meanwhile when I gotta walk a long distance, it‘s somehow a different story :D
Maybe cause the road for you is flat. Mine is a little steep. Dutch dont like hills
@@annabelholland I live in Germany, relatively flat here but I got hills and mountains nearby, ofc its more exhausting to go uphill or to have headwind but if youre going at a steady pace its alright (ofc it also depends on how steep it is, everything under like 4% is very manageable id say)
It'll get easier - I found it hard going up and down hills (English Midlands) at first but now its not so bad, unless my bike is heavily loaded (its a utility vehicle so carries all manner of stuff back and forth - often plants going to various gardens). Wind is the worst thing - that can make the flat seem like uphill.
If you find that you do have a longer term issue with cycling any distance though, you might want to consider an e-bike or conversion kit. They give you some electrical assistance and help "flatten the hills". You still get to pedal so you do get some exercise, but not the same level of exertion as an unaided bike obviously.
This may be because your bike is too small or because your saddle height is too low. Your leg should be almost but not completely stretched when your paddle is at its lowest position. Like this:

cool video 🔥
Dit komt ook ff in reccomended hoor. 0413 & 073 laat je horen 💪
Uden de gekste
Oss to den bosch, you should do
Heeft ie al gedaan
This looks wonderful, thank you!
I'm sorry to ask (I'm sure you get this all the time), but what camera setup do you use? Your videos are so smooth! I have an old GoPro but when I mount it to my handlebars the video always seems really rough.
Is it ok to walk on the bicycle road? If it is should i walk on the right or left side of the road?
It is allowed to walk on a bicycle road, provided that there is no sidewalk or separate walking path. When you're walking on a bicycle path it is recommended that you should walk on the left, so you can see the oncoming traffic and won't be surprised by silently approaching bicycles.
@@timvanstijn3744 Thank you for your reply. I am new in NL. And the roads are a bit confusing for me. I want to do it the proper way.
I was noticing, around the 19 minute mark, that the road/bike path was two-way and the speed limit, with bikes potentially on either side, was quite fast. Could you please add to how this is a viable setup in the Netherlands?
I realize we "Rest-of-the-World" are less inclined to give priority and safety to bicyclists (in the Netherlands: regular people) the infrastructure we require but I did not anticipate seeing it in your neck of the woods.
You just gave the answer yourself. Cycling is the standard here, so drivers are just more inclined to give priority and safety to bicyclists. That's the only real reason this setup is viable.
Standard 60 km/h rural road. Mostly used for local transport, bikes and agriculture. Standard flow roads is 80 km/h where bikes are always seperated from the road.
What recording set up do you use?
What kind of bike are you riding? A city bike or a road bike ?
Andar de bicicleta nesse lugar deve ser desestressante.
Pelo contrário !
The Netherlands is "the land of windmills and tulips". But....I do not see any of them here. Hmm...
Yes, this area is a big farm and industrial area. Mostly build after 1900 so less traditonal sight. Im verry familiar with this area. The closes to thuis route is 2km in keldonk. And maybe near denbosch some close one as wel
Hoi
Is the Chocolate factory still at Veghel
Yes!
@@BicycleDutch I remember loading Mars Bars there in the 90s and took all morning, when i pulled off the Bay they had taken the Boxes off the pallets to get an extra row in, then the people at the Delivery wouldn't unload it until they had received an amount of money to pay for their labour and time,
You get to some great locations, I was hoping to get back this year,
Mars, jumbo, sligro, and more are founded in veghel. As i said in other comments this is a very work/farm/industial oriented area.
@@RMcarphotography they said that more people work in Veghel as there are living in Veghel :-)
@@gijsv8419 i think thats true a lot of big company's here
