  • Martin Luther - how a humble 15th-century monk was able to change the world. Luther was born into a world governed by the Roman Church and a distant emperor.
He managed to awaken a national spirit in Germans and become someone they identified with. ‘Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation’ was what the territories in central Europe were called in the 15th century. It was the era of the Habsburg ruler Charles V, who saw himself as ruler by God’s grace and defender of Christian unity. In 1521, he said that the sun never set in his empire, which stretched from Latin America in the west to central Europe and to the Philippines in the east. The German territories were just one of his realms, and powerful princes defended their own interests here. Secular and religious power was still based on the Christianity of the Roman church. But many saw the Reformation as an opportunity to distance themselves from Rome and the Emperor, and to improve their standing in the political power structure of the day. Unlike the Habsburg emperor Charles V, who didn’t even speak German, Luther grew to become someone the people identified with, and he became hugely popular. The reformer was one of the first major figures to explicitly play the German card and appeal to national sentiment: one of his missives said, "Why should the Germans put up with robbery and oppression imposed by foreigners?” Luther’s translation of the Bible into German was an important step in forming a German identity, but the Reformation left Germany divided along religious lines.

I would argue that during the time of the Diet of Worms 1521, it is the Ottoman Sultan who is the most powerful man in the world at the time. Not the Holy Roman Emperor.

Jas & Mike, in a way you are right. The religious material regarding the early Jesus community (church, if you will) was hidden during the time of the Emperor Constantine. I do not think it was hidden by him or it would have been destroyed. May have been hidden within the walls by one of the supporters of the Bishops whose position was that God was one, and that Jesus was not the son of God, an that Jesus was seperate from God and below Him. These positions the Monotheistic Bishops, primarily of North Africa, had hidden in the walls of Constantinople. This very important religious knowledge was not found until Constantinople was ruled by the Ottoman Empire. The last of the Christians leaving from that place was given this Christian material to take with them. And was found by the one man who God intended it for. The rest is history. Except that some years after Martin Luther and his strongest supporters had died the old enemies were back corrupting scripture and the work of Luther. For instance the Luther Church and most every other Protestant Church now accepts a 3 in 1 God, the Pope as God of the earth, and all of the other centuries old fables that will take them to the hellfire.

🟨🟨Jesus lived in the region called today Middle east, that's why you should check what historical sources in this region are saying, history is about sources not "theories",Jesus was the Messiah simply a man,a reformer of faith. The majority of people under Romans and then later Byzintines in Syria,Iraq,Egypt,North Africa, part of central Asia and even Goths in Eastern Europe and Spain, and Germanic nations believed in Jesus simply as a prophet of God but Romans and Byzintines under the fast spread of the movement founded by Jesus tried to save the ideology of the impire which is paganism by integrating the new faith into their ideology and this is how "christianity was born" and they forced it on people around the ancient World with persecution, burning religious books and hisorical sources ,all what happened from the 1st century AD till modern era has been about this struggle, nations in what's now called Muslim World and in Spain for some period of time accepted Islam since it's close to their faith and Islam gave them religious freedom and these nations fought with early Muslims and this why Islam spread so fast in few years , European nations stood against the Church in Rome and Constantinople but with time the Church was able to spread their political ideology, this period was called the "Darks ages" and it's the Church which made it dark ,later the European renaissace was just an other phase of this struggle.
Europeans today have no idea of their true history simply because the "Catholic Church" especially wiped it out .
I guess you're European I advise you to know you real history❤

@@علي-ش7ث8ب first of all, no, i am not an European.
Secondly, if you are saying that what muslim taught about Jesus was right, then it's contradicting history as they don't believe in the crucifixion. Now, if the crucifixion is real, my question is, why was Jesus crucified?
John, 5:18 - For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
John 1:14, 18; John 3:16, 18), Jesus presented himself as Son and not just as one who was the divinely appointed Messiah (and therefore "son" of God). He made himself out to be more than only someone chosen and anointed as divine representative to fulfil an eschatological role in and for the kingdom.
All the apostles were martyred coz of preaching the divinity of Christ. As st. Paul says, If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead.
If Jesus was just a man, i wonder why do people get healed by his name. I wonder, why is there power in that name.

So, many Christians like me may be asking , ''Did the Christian Church started only with Dr.Martin Luthers German Protestant Reformation (Lutheran Church) or John Calvin's Swiss Reformation (Presbysterian Church) or with King Henry English Reformation (Anglican Church ) only 500 years ago or with the Wesleyan Revival by John and Charles Wesley (Methodist Church) 250 years ago or with whenever was the ''Birthday'' of your particular Church (Baptist, Mennonite, Brethren, Pentecostal, Episcopal, Mar Thoma or whatever Sects or Denominations (etc. etc?) The Answer is ''Of Course not! '' God's Church started on the Day of Pentecost 33 AD, with the outpouring of God' Holy Spirit, were immediately severely persecuted by Satanic forces in high places, both from Jewish Religious rulers and Roman Emperors who sought to kill Christian believers in the Gospel (Greek: Euaggelion= Evangel in English) and extinquish the True Christian Faith. Then the Apostolic , Orthodox and Evangelical Christian Faith was supplanted by the Rise of Roman '''Catholicism''' in the West and Greek ''Orthodoxy'' in the East modeled after the authority of the Imperial Roman Emperors.starting with Emperor Constantine when he combined the the State (Political) with the Church, (Religious) Authorities under him. From then on ''Christendom'' apostasied from the True Message of the Gospel revealed in the Holy Scriptures and so went into the DARK ages ignorant of the Holy Bible.......until Dr.Martin Luther rediscovered the Truth of the Evangel (or Gospel) again in the Word of God especially in studying arduously the Book of Romans and Galatians...and the light of the Gospel and truth of the Bible began to shine into his soul and eventually spread round the world again under the threat of Satanic forces in high places again, this time also from both the hIghest Religious Authority (The Roman Pope-the Papacy) and the Political Authority (The Holy Roman Emperor-Charles V- Holy Roman Catholic Empire) The Church & State (the Idolatrous & Ecclesiatical Whore dominating one of the Political Beast's 7 Heads- Empire in Europe then) ...Church History repeated itself and came full circle in Germany and Europe. But this not the end...for the Battle still rages on today ...the Highest Religious and Political Authorities in many lands and nations around the World united and set against the Word of God and the Gospel (Evangel) of Jesus Christ ...aptly as Paul wrote ''For our conflict is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephsians 6: 10-18)....so be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

Until his death ... Martin Luther was true to his personal interpretation of words in the Catholic bible.
At that time in history ... there wasn't any Protestant bible.
It was the German princes that coined the word “protest” ... which became "Protestant" and simply meant that Martin and his Catholic followers were "protesting" what pope Leo X was preaching as being truth from God.
Martin’s AIM was to overthrow the pope and replace the pope with his self.
He wanted to be married … and as a Catholic monk, that was not allowed. So … he swore that Pope Leo X was a heretical blasphemer and that HE (Martin) knew the *correct interpretation of the very same Catholic bible.
“I am more afraid of my own heart than of the pope and all his cardinals. I have within me the great pope, Self.” Martin Luther.
And of course, Pope Leo X referred to Martin Luther as being the “real” heretic.
The tragedy of their choices … is that they were both just imagining that they knew truth from a god ... and that their arrogant behavior in turn resulted in division and war ... and the torture and death of many humans caught in the fray. And that to this day ... because of animosity ... has never created even a semblance of "agreement" in terms of biblical interpretation between the many factions.
All the torture and anger and bloodshed could have been spared ... if only all the so-called "Men of the cloth" had said those three little words ... "I don't know."

Pope Leo X never encouraged the "sale" of indulgences. The st.Peter's basilica in Rome had to be finished, so he encouraged the people to give alms for the completion of this magnificent work. Furthermore to those faithful who would confess their sins, receive Holy Communion and give alms for the st. Peters, he granted a plenary indulgence, but this does not mean that one can "buy" an indulgence. Later, Pope Pius V in 1567 cancelled all grants of indulgences involving financial transactions, because of this kind of misconceptions around indulgences. The Pope makes use of his key power given to him by Christ, and no spiritual power or grace can ever be bought with money. That is why st.Peter rebuked Simon the magician, because he thought he could buy the gift of the Holy Spirit, with money. But this is not how Luthers revolte started. It started because he, as a Priest, could not control his sexual desires, and proclaimed blasphemously, in 1516, that God has given us Commandments we can not keep. With this blasphemy his new direction started. He started to alter the teaching of the Church about original sin, concupiscence, free will and justification.

    • @joni3503
      @joni3503 2 года назад

Yes, I'm European. Please show me where I can find this real history. It would be interesting. The Vatican TODAY is a political ideology of paganism, and has nothing to do with real christendom anymore, as it existed 100 years ago. Because modernist revolution has almost destroyed it. Islam made such progress, by the sword, and by the fact that people want to live a comfortable life without bothering about theology. The christian Apostle's on the other hand, conquered the Roman Empire with their words, with the Word of God, and they were up against a heavily armed, all powerful Roman Empire. Many of them have shed their blood as martyrs, but in the end were victorious. The seat of the Apostle Peter was established there in Rome. Spain was the first European country that accepted the christian faith directly from Jerusalem, not from Rome. On her soil was built the first catholic chapel. The Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, was present herself when it was built by the Apostle st. James. Islam came later as a conqueror, not as a benefactor. The Apostle's and Mary have given testimony about the divinity of Jesus. That Jesus has both the human and the divine nature united in his Person. That is why the church declared her to be the Mother of God. Christian faith is not a product of Roman paganism. On the other hand, Islam can be considered a product of Arab paganism, if you look for instance at the worship they give to Kaba ah, the big stone in Mecca. Moses can not be their prophet, nor the God of Israël their God, for then they would know about, and follow the Ten Commandments, which Moses brought from Mount Sinaï to the jewish people. The same Law was followed and respected by Jesus and his disciples. But there is no such thing known in islam.

Luther in the beginning did not object to corruption or some strange religious practices but was against the theology of the late Middle-ages that did not give a real witness of the belief of the redemption by Jesus Christ. Thats what made him insist on the justification doctrine. He only wanted to change the theology and in that way the church as a whole. He never ever had an idea to reform the church in the way it happend in Reformation. He even later opposed to some reforms that were made for instance in Wittenberg by the course of the reform movement. Luther even was more a mystic if you read him carefully.

Good documentary with a few left-out historical facts. It appears the documentary aimed to glorify Martin Luther by mostly showing one side of him. I believe he had a darker side which left a mark on German people and their culture. The one thing I didn't hear about the Peasant's War was that before the war broke out, it was Luther who came to the peasants as a form of a "savior" by telling them "Among Christians, no authority can or ought to exit, but everyone should be subject to all", "God Almighty has struck our princes with madness so that they imagine they may treat and command their subjects just as they please, and the subjects too are crazy enough to think that it is their duty to obey all that is commanded them", He even said " The princes are the greatest fools and the worst scoundrels on earth. The people cannot, will not any longer, endure your tyranny and your presumption". Hearing this and not knowing his true colors, the peasants were duped into believing Luther, which ultimately caused their persecution. The peasants did publish their grievances in a memorandum consisting of twelve articles. Luther's response to these articles was titled "Exhortation to Peace regarding the Twelve Articles". It feels like Luther was backing away from his previous preaching about not enduring tyranny and presumption. In the end, he went against the peasants and declared " Peasants are no better than straw. They will not hear the Word and they are without sense; therefore they must be compelled to hear the crack of the whip and the whiz of bullets, and it is only what they deserve. We must pray for them that they may become obedient; but if they do not, pity is of no avail here, we must let the cannon-balls whistle among them, or they will only make things a thousand times worse." Luther continued and on May 6, 1525 he published his pamphlet "Against the Peasant Bands of Robbers and Murderers". On this pamphlet, he said " To kill a peasant is not murder; it is helping to extinguish the conflagration. Let there be no half-measures! Crush them! Cut their throats! Transfix them! Leave no stone unturned! To kill a peasant is to destroy a mad dog! ... A prince who failed to do so would be sinning against God very boldly..." His views toward marriage were also flawed, read history and his writings to confirm. He once said "Marriage is an external bodily thing, like any other manipulation. Know that Marriage is an outward material thing like any other secular business. The body has nothing to do with God. In this respect one can never sin against God, but only against one's neighbor". Hmm, that's a very interesting way of looking at Marriage! I wonder why these were not included in the documentary? After the Reformation, Luther was a different person with a different agenda; perhaps that was his true color showing up at the end.

Exactly, initially he was only calling for a renewal of the Church, and there was nothing wrong with that, it needed to be corrected but then something went through his head and he tought that he could creat his own church, a church founded by a man and not by God....500 years later, what we have now? More than 50, 000 denominations and still growing, all claiming to have the truth, but The Truth is only one.
    John 17:20, 23
    Jesus said:
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. the Reformation?
It had some sounder doctrine than the Roman Church had to offer.
But it was all undone by the boundless hatred the reformers had; and Rome showed itself no better by the boundless hatred they responded with
If Christianity is true the doctrine "you know them by their fruits" is true.
and Luther's foul temper and foul mouth are the clear fruit Luther is to be known by,
    poor poor man.
It is still the case that strait is the gate narrow the way and few there are who find it

This ludicrous story is very amusing. Luther was a drunkard, womanizing, murder, con man. He was mad at the church for not giving him the right to print Bibles and not making him an archbishop. They definitely should have burned him.
