- I took Rychlík Labe - the fast train service operated by České dráhy / Czech Railways. This train is operated by a classic loco hauled set, consists of refurbished coaches made by VEB Waggonbau Bautzen.

I loved this - that braking sound takes me back to my childhood! It was common on West German trains, especially on N cars and old D-Zug cars.
I have the same, this sound takes me back to my childhood :-) Btw. I traveled in Germany on similar coach in 2021 (Bomz / ABomz), which also has this type of brakes. These coaches are operated by Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn on the Leipzig - Chemnitz route.

Díky moc! Ano, toto je prostě klasika, navíc po jedné z nejhezčích tratí v ČR. Představil jsem si kdyby na tuto linku nasadili InterPanter, to by podle mě bylo mnohem horší :-)

Hezky natočené. Celá souprava je složená z vozů, jež vznikli před 40 a více lety. To, že některé prošli modernizací je sice hezké, ale myslím, že je čas, stáhnout z provozu. Při vyšších rychlostech je vlak velmi hlučný a podvozky s sebou divně hází. Posledně mi nešli ani otevřít dveře na konečné. To se nedá porovnávat s InterJety, či vozy nasazenými na Berliner. Měla by začít výroba nových vozů, které by měli jezdit do Berlína a Hamburku, nejspíš i do Budapešti a Vídně. Přál bych si, aby na téhle lince jezdilo něco lepšího. Na dlouhé cestování je to utrpení.
Díky moc! No ta jízda není úplně nejhladší, ale co si pamatuju, tak mezi Ústím a Prahou skákalo i ABmz, co si pamatuju mých cest Krušnohorem :-D Ale jinak ve srovnání s InterJety a Berlinery jsou už ty vozy opravdu zastaralé. Až přijdou ComfortJety, tak by se mělo uvolnit velké množství dobrých vozů z Metropolitanů a Berlinerů (plus Railjety), takže to už potom bude asi opravdu konec všech derivátů UIC-Y/B od Waggonbau Bautzen.

Sice už staré, ale furt pěkné a možná i pohodlné vozy, navíc ještě koukám, že u některých "dvojek" došlo k přečalounění :D
Jo, také jsem byl překvapen u toho přečalounění. Jinak za mě to je v pohodě vlak, kdybych dojížděl třeba z Kralup nebo Litoměřic, tak se ta chvilka dá zvládnout a pro delší cesty jako Praha - Ústí je možnost zvolit Krušnohor nebo Berliner :-)
Jo, ale jak dlouho trvalo, než došlo alespoň k tomu precalouneni!!! To se museli páni od ČD těžce přemáhat, co? A to až po tom, co přišla spousta stížno sti na staré koženky!!! Je odrůda že 33 roky po krachu komunismu stále ještě jezdí spousta vagónů komunismus připomínajících! Protože Bc ČD jsou je schopný vám vnucovat na jakémkoliv spoji!! Abyste se. nedivili, že někdy přijedou namísto nových Push pull jednotek a nebo City jetu!!;

Thanks for great review. The river views in the morning stillness were lovely too. One question - is there much difference between the 2nd class compartments with 6 blue seats and the 1st class compartments with 6 red seats? Was ther more legroom for example?
Thanks so much Linda! :-) The main difference is more legroom. The 2nd class coaches are designed for 10 compartments, but the 1st class only for 9 compartments (in the same length of the coach). Another difference is that the 1st class coaches are equipped with power sockets and Wi-Fi enabled.
Funnily enough, I rode this train just yesterday evening when I was returning to Děčín from my day trip to Prague. It is a solid train, though it feels a bit "lidl" after experiencing one of the new InterJet sets (the Krušnohor fast train I rode yesterday morning from Ústí to Prague, after taking an Os - local - train from Děčín to Ústí). I should note that I was travelling in second class.
The Labe fast train feels a little barbones, honestly (especially when comparing with other fast trains of the same category - again referencing Krušnohor). At least Wi-Fi connection should be standard in 2022 (the only Wi-Fi enabled car on Labe trains is the 1st class one).
In the end though, the ride was decent. The train did its job well.
I agree with you, especially Wi-Fi and power sockets should be standard. For my journey to Děčín I took the Berliner train, so the difference was really noticeable. There's also a big difference compared to R-Krušnohor (operated by InterJet set). But in my opinion, R-Labe purpose its function as a fast train with multiple stops, I think the only few people use this train for the whole route.
Zapomněl jsi pro anglicky mluvící země udat svou výšku v palcích nebo inčích. Takhle ti na Floridě nebo v Nebrasce budou prd rozumět 😁. P.S. V poho - hezké videjko.👍

Excellent video Pete and the CZ 162 shares the same bodyshell as its Dual voltage cousins the CZ363 Germany and Poland Capable CZ371/372 DB BR180. Regarding the Kilometre Stones from Decin to Prague do not zero at Prague instead they Kilometre Zero at Wien Hbf a legacy of the Austria-Hungary Rule. What should have been was set the Km 0 to Prague or Dresden Neustadt since this railway line is part of Dresden Neustadt Dresden Hbf Pirna Bad Schandau Schona Prague via Decin Line.
My question is this did the Czech Republic produce its own railway passenger and freight waggons during the Communist Comecon era or not? If not then CZ during the Communist era and Comecon has to buy VEB Waggonbau Gorlitz and Bautzen Passenger Railway Waggons. Freight VEB Niesky
Thanks so much! Yes, passenger cars were manufactured in the Vagónka Studénka factory in former Czechoslovakia. There were produced classic UIC-Y carriages and also diesel railcars. Many of them are still in operation after reconstruction.

Thank you :-) Yes, there is only a small difference between classes on this train, the main advantage of 1st class is lower occupancy.. Unfortunately, I can't compare Amtrak yet, so far I've only traveled on the commuter service from Newark to NY Penn station :-D
Hezký video, ale příště až pojedeš z Holešovic na Hlavák nebo naopak, tak dej do videa podchod pod tratí u mezi tunelem a mostem přes Rokytku, kde natáčím, aby bylo vídět jestli tam náhodou nejsem.

I have a "(n)Ostalgie" feeling.
These coaches have 40 years average and still rock.
I see everything is about money and the purpose of the vehicles. Reasonable refurbishment, considering that.ČD are going to replace the old rolling stock by new anyway as soon as possible.
The 2nd class combined seating - yeah, the open saloon section is looking like a "regional 1st class", what is good. I would like to try it.

InterJety jsou jen na linkách Ex6 (Chebská větev Západních expresů) a R15 (Krušnohor) a momentálně nezvládají pokrýt ani všechny Krušnohory :-D

Nope, these spacious seats are double seats, so that the 2nd class compartments are 8-seater :-D
