  • We get the Dinan underdrive pulley and carbon fiber intake installed on the M3.
    Belts & tensioners suck.
    Blood hand is inevitable.
    The mode carbon lip arrived today with no drilled holes.
    Suspension and brakes should be up next for the M3. HRE's are at the finishing stage, so they'll be done "Soon".

    I don't know about other people but I only find your videos interesting when you make videos driving your car after you work on it. I don't own an E92 M3 or an M2 or a GT3 RS, so I don't need to know how to work on them. However, I am interested in seeing your work on your cart and then seeing how fun it is to go for a nice drive after. I hope you start making more driving videos!

    I just did this. There is a trick to getting water pump/ alternator belt back on. You cant use a socket wrench to retract the tensioner. The socket will hit the AC plumbing and not allow full retraction of the tensioner. You need to use a 14mm box wrench behind the Ac plumbing. A box end wrench is not as long as a socket wrench so it takes a little effort. It is helpful if you have a friend put the belt on while you pull.

    To help with the terminology, the original is called a Crankshaft pulley, the replacement as well but because of the smaller diameter it “underdrives” the accessories and thus they sap less power from the engine. Therefore the replacement pulley is called an underdrive pulley. ;)

    You kept calling the oe pulley underdrive, only the new pulley is an underdrive, the oe is just a pulley. Not sure if you were saying it by accident or if you didn't realise the reason it's called an underdrive pulley. As it's smaller than the original pulley it changes the ratio between the crank and the accessories. It's called an underdrive pulley because the accessories are now spinning slower, and therefore they're being under driven.

    • @reddragoncollectables6836
      @reddragoncollectables6836 2 года назад

      Not the best person to answer this question but I'll do my best. The pully reduces parasite drag. This does not "create" power but instead restores lost power that is used to drive components the belt is attached to. I'll have to give this a shot myself here soon, so no personal experience yet. Maybe some others can chime in and give a stronger explanation.
