    Hey Everybody.. I'm the rider on this video.. My left boot touched the ground, I moved my foot up a little that kicked the bike out of balance because my lean angle was too low. It was a simple rider error: I should've sit out and this wouldn't have happened. According to the majority of the comments most of you guys are expert of riding motorcycles thus you've never made a mistake whilst riding, but remember, there are 2 types of riders: the one that has gone down and the one that will go down. THANKS for the 1.2 million views..

      Thanks for the explanation. I looked at that video a few times but couldn't see what happened; now you've explained it's pretty clear.
      I'm pretty sure half these twats have never even ridden a bike, let alone a Ducati. I've owned a 900ss, an 860 GTS, Pantah 500 and a 239 (non desmo) single. The only one I fell off was the 239, surprisingly. It's easily done.
      Safe things aren't exciting or we'd all be driving a Prius.

      If your foot could unbalance a 400lbs motorcycle people would be crashing all the time. You tucked the front end of the bike in. Watch twist of the wrist 2 and check out motorcycle school at the track.

    • @IveGotTheNuts
      @IveGotTheNuts 10 лет назад +37

      Nope actually he tipped cause he completely has no clue how to RIDE !!! How do I know this. It is hard to see but I can see it. At the nine second to 10 second mark Aprox., you can see he turns his tire to the left ever so slightly. He thinks turning his tire left makes him turn left. When in fact he needed to turn his tire to the right to turn left, counter steering. I can see the mistake. Remember on a motorcycle push left hand to go left push right hand to go right . It is opposite a bicycle unless you are going over 10 MPH on the bicycle then it is counter steer as well. I can see his tire turn the wrong way just before he slides out > EXTREMELY ROOKIE MOVE

    • @0foxgiven
      @0foxgiven 10 лет назад +13

      Did you see how much lean he had before he saw the cop? You can't get more than 15 degrees of lean not knowing how to countersteer. Hope you at least own a bike and are not just a guy who has read about countersteering!

    • @motogpslider
      @motogpslider 10 лет назад +11

      there seems to be a big Misconception that counter-steering or leaning actually steers the bike...counter-steering helps the bike only lean over, but not steer it in the direction of the turn....look up "gyroscopic inertia" to understand how a bike/motorcycle really works

    • @0foxgiven
      @0foxgiven 10 лет назад +3

      It is physically impossible to lean without turning and vice versa. (Leaning=your center of gravity not aligning with the line connecting your contact patches to each other)
      So counter steering => leaning => turning

  • @busterrabbit
    @busterrabbit 6 лет назад +5

    He obviously doesn't understand countersteering; he tried to turn by turning the bars to the left and due to the lean angle the front just washed out. Would benefit from spending more money on training and less on a bike

I love that about people into bikes and other motorsports. Also awesome all around on the Cops part. The guy just tossed his baby, and in front of everyone like that. The bike repairs, bumps/bruises and embarrassment are enough, and that officer clearly gets that. Great overall moment caught here....

    As I see all these comments saying "no sand, and that its one of "those" unlucky washouts with no apparent reason" you guys need to look at his handle bars through this turn in slow motion. I race at the track and people just don't have unlucky crashes. He saw the cop and had an SR. He pulled on the bars way to much and forced himself into a washout super quick. Once you crack the throttle for a turn you don't back down or hit your front brakes to hard. You should have constant smooth throttle or either be increasing the throttle the whole time until your out of the turn and then you can pin it!

      I know you're joking, but the answer is "yes you can!" In most jurisdictions the ticket in this scenario is known as a "failure to control" ticket. It's used to determine liability for insurance/legal purposes (although it is often issued where there is no real property damage). Like many tickets, it's the officer's discretion so hopefully this guy didn't get a ticket to add insult to injury.

      1. Roll-off the gas.
      2. Tighten on bars.
      3. Narrowed and frantically hunting* field of view.
      4. Fixed attention (on something).
      5. Steering in the direction of the fixed attention.
      6. No steering (frozen) or ineffective (not quick enough or too early) steering.
      7. Braking errors (both over- and under-braking).
      The rider in the video is definitely guilty of SR 2 at a minimum. Most likely SR 1, 3, 4, 6 and possible 7 (didn't hit the front brake but may have hit the rear brake.
      It all comes down to an inexperienced rider making a mistake.

    Newbie... a lot of people ride for years not realizing that your shoulders should not be centered with the bike in a leaning turn especially not at low speeds. Push the handle bars away from your body and in the direction you are turning while keeping your upper torso as close to upright by leaning to the opposite side of the turn. It’s called counter-turning. The bike won’t lean any further than you let it because your have counter-weight control of it.

      If you have done time on a track you will be able to avoid crashing. Its a Decreasing radius corner so the typical line wants to send you into the wall. People just mis judge their speed and try to apex it which usually introduces a bunch of oversteer since they are already going to fast. Just go slower and prepare for the corner ahead of time.

      Robert Arrowood he forced steering LEFT causing front to jump out under the bike. Countersteer lean and apply power. NEVER enter a turn too fast. If he would have hit the gas he would have been fine. He forced left wheel instead of slight PUSH with left hand to angle front wheel Slightly right AND keep ower applied. Watch and see. To turn a bike over 12 mph you PUSH the handlebar in OPPOSITE direction AND LEAN APPLYING THROTTLE.

    Start on a 250cc and progress from there. Then you'll become really good, trust me.

      he could of crashed the same way on a 250cc this doesnt have anything to do with the power of the bike

    That's what happens when you try to steer a bike into a corner

      No that's what happens when you gas in a corner...

      @m109rocket 8 лет назад

      Lijpeturk No mate you can see clearly he steered that bike have a look at the way that front end toke a dive at the same time as the back end if he had to much gas on the back wheel would have gone out further and not slide at the same time cheers...Only an experienced rider can see that,

    • @lijpeturk2000
      @lijpeturk2000 8 лет назад

      +m109rocket hahaha use your ears m8 he was accelerating in the corner

    • @m109rocket
      @m109rocket 8 лет назад +1

      Lijpeturk Keep your eyes on that front wheel and his hands in slow motion you can see clearly he tried to turn that steering just that little bit but that's all it takes and yes sure he was accelerating but it wasn't that hard... All I'm saying is clearly the way he came into that corner this guy could not ride for shit.

    seems like he may have panicked when he saw the fuzz and let off the throttle halfway through the turn.

    Frame sliders would help the bike a bit?

      jes it would

      People only put them on AFTER an accident though. "Oh goodness, frame sliders would have really helped in this minor spill I had, I think I will put them on now" - Everyone with frame sliders ever thought process.

    I think he just chickened out when he noticed a cop.

  • @raucousr641
    @raucousr641 10 лет назад +4

    i always feel like people grab a handful of brake when they see a cop and in that case it would have caused a lowside like the one he ended up with... just sayin, maybe cops should try and hunt on the straits... it may save a few bikes.

    • @raucousr641
      @raucousr641 10 лет назад

      in fact in the slomo you can see as soon as the cop comes into his view it looks like he reacts, he sits up and presumably gets on the brakes.

    • @raucousr641
      @raucousr641 10 лет назад +1

      ***** true, his fingers are definatly not on the break lever but he does look like he reacts pretty abruptly.

    • @RoloPoops
      @RoloPoops 9 лет назад +2

      ***** Not arguing your point about his reaction to seeing a cop. Just wanted to mention, the cops up on this road are pretty relaxed. A lot of them post up at this spot and end up just watching the riders making runs for a while sometimes. They'll of course ticket for people crossing the double yellow or overly excessive speed/recklessness but for those making normal passes, and even dragging knee, most of the time they won't do anything.

    Classic example of turning your bike one way and going the opposite. Notice his tire being steered to the left and the bike dumps to the right. If he were to push on the left handle bar his bike would have leaned through the turn.
