We started a social club in the northeast Bronx around 1956 and we could not come up with a name that everyone could agree on. This song started to play on the radio and I, duly elected president of the club, said, "Let's call ourselves The Continentals". Everyone loved the song, we had our name.
This performance gets better every time I watch and listen to it. I just noticed the the guy next to the bass at around 2:20 turns to the bass and sings in his ear to the delight of the crowd.
Was this at the Boys & Girls H.S. show years ago on the bill with the Jive Five, The Velours, The Continentals, and, I think, The Bopchords? I was at that show, but cannot recall if that was 2008. That sounds about right.
