Watching This Video of my dad singing brings tears to my eyes. I was born June of 1980. My Dad passed away months before my 9th birthday. I remember when they would all rehearse in my livingroom and I would sing along. Music is in me. I love all genres of music. Because of The Charts music will live in me forever. In Loving Memory of My Dad Steve Brown and Uncle Leroy Binns
I just posted this song on my Fb page so that my Friends that I grew up with could enjoy and remember. We all had a copy of "Deserie" on 45rpm records and I even had The Charts album. I was 12 years old in 1957. You can be proud to know that your Dad and Uncle contributed to the happiness and beautiful memories of a whole generation of us that grew up in the 1950's. Make sure you let the younger generation in your Family know what they achieved. Don't let that history of your Family get lost, please! This song is in my heart forever.
My older brother introduced me to this song in the early 60s. It’s still one of the most beautiful songs ever! Thank you for sharing your memory. I hope it helps knowing the joy your dad brought to so many.
I had bought the 45 after hearing it only once on the radio back then. The record had just come in to the store. Doo Wop in general had a deep effect on me and still does. I like all the PBS shows that paid tribute to the older singers.
One of my favorite songs. I covered it when i was a kid. Chubby and I covered it with our group "The Utopians". Our group was the forerunner of The "Original Duprees" The Utopians were from downtown Jersey City. We were a quartet. Cubby's real name was Joey Canzano. When we formed The "Original" Duprees he used Joey Vann as his name. He was our lead singer. Then their was Brian Moran on baritone-bass, Jackie Smith on second tenor and myself Tom Bialoglow, on top tenor.
The heart, the soul of this song passes from generation to generation....it is the best of the best I hope the love of my lifr,y Jerry is listening in heavon
Actually i was way too young in 57 to have known this song; but i discovered this beautiful ballad on the radio in 70's. It bcame one of my favorite s. Thank you for providing us with this version of these handsome gentlemen! RIP Leroy Binns! Any way you could get a hold of 2002 video of Joe Grier, Leroy Binns, & another gentleman who sang on PBS in honor of 9/11 tragedy (I think it might have been called "Red,White, and Rock") I believe by T.J.Lubinsky. The Charts must have been in their 60s & they put on the most beautiful rendition of Deserie I think I've ever heard! And they were so handsome! Thank you so much!

I'm hoping that your father is in a 1974 film of the Cadillacs we are currently working to restore. We cannot identify the members!

One of my all time favorites. PBS had a great version with the original lead singer but this version also has the back-up singers. Makes it perfect!

One of the best rock songs of its time!~
This is right up there with "Coney Island Baby" and The Mellows' "Yesterday' Memories" as definitive examples of NYC doo wop.
Oh so true! In Connecticut the airwaves were so clear, we got all the doo wop from NYC we were so fortunate, fond memories

Jerry Blavat named his daughter after this song.
Deserie is a song that takes me back to an era where you could make out with your girlfriend of the month.
Thats not the lead singer?
Barbara, this is the original lead singer, Mr. Joe Grier.
