After years of saying I was working on it, I've finally released a new album! And you can download it now on Bandcamp missingreels.b....
It's a collection of the Pocket Operator jams from this channel, however not in the form you may know. They've been re-recorded, fleshed out, layered up and reimagined. If the original jams are sketches then these are the fully realised versions, taking what was suggested by the limited palette of the POs and expanding upon it. It's been a bit of a labour of love getting completing this record (especially during a pandemic), with many false starts, aborted versions, and frustrated moments, but I'm really pleased with the end results. I hope I've done the original jams justice and that you like it.
And I'd like to give a very special thank you to Jamie Child for the cover art. He showed me a series of awesome images he'd made while I was working on this record and I immediately wanted to use one as the cover. In fact the look of the art even inspired the direction I went with the music production, they're saturated, digital, bright and layered, so I wanted the music to sound like that too. so I'm very grateful to Jamie gor letting me use this image. You can see the full size artwork here www.jtchild.co...

the first one is my favorite song, it's going in the playlist !!!
Ah thanks man! That's actually my favourite track too. :)
Spotifyで楽しく聴かせてもらってます。ありがとうございます。
どもありがとうございます (just in case I got that wrong, thank you very much)
Hell yeah, been here since the beginning. Exciting
Awesome! Thanks for sticking around.☺️
Awesome news dude!
Gotta say, thats the most organised I've ever seen your studio, looks lush!
Thanks dude. Obviously anywhere the camera isn't pointing is the same horrendous chaos as normal.
All very cool! Gonna find my TwistedPlasticStrand CDRs and put them some where safe x
Haha! Those probably need to go in a safe at the bottom of a river, so they can no longer harm anyone's ears.
Good album dude, bought it.
Thank you so much. :)
Yes mate!
The album is dope!
Thank you for checking it out! ☺️
Really, really nice. Your album is a fantastic listen. Look forward to the future releases with anticipation.
Thank you for checking it out Leo. ☺️
Really great album! You really show the capabilities of the POs, Teenage Engineering should sponsor :)
So cool man!!!!!!! Just a testament to how much a skilled music maker can do with limited gear
Beautiful stuff. It's amazing what you can accomplish with simple gear when you know what you're doing.
thx 4 inspiration bro
Really nice, ok now following on the Spotifies thank you
Thank you!
Hey, great channel and album. Its nice to see what these Pocket Operators are capable of.
Thank you!
Yessssssss!!!!!!! Saved and liked.
OP-Z album next yes?!
🙂
Haha! Well the next two EPs I have in production do have plenty of OPZ, but they're not pure Z action I'm afraid. Actually, this record featured quite a bit of OPZ in fact. It's such a useful and great sounding synth that it usually finds its way onto everything!
@@missingreels haha I’m only joking man! Love the album so far. The bonus is it’s got Concrete on it which is great because that’s is hands down the best thing ever done on any PO ever. Fight me.
You really have done the best compositions i've ever heard on the PO-32! Would love to see a video on your composition process when using it! You really squeeze the juice out of that thing
That's really kind of you to say so. Thank you. I've not tried any tutorial/tips type videos before, but since I plucked up the courage to step in front of the camera for this video I've been thinking I might just try more videos of that nature, and something on the PO32 seems like a good place to start.
Congratulations, your work inspires and moves me. Sending lots of love.
Thank you so much. That's very kind of you to say so. ☺️
I would never have guessed that it was made with POs. Great job, the album is amazing! I was especially pleased to see that Concrete was on it, I've listened to that one many a-times here on youtube. Toys is also a song that really was up my alley. Having used them to such a exctent, do you have a favorite among the PO's?
Ahh, thank you! Though I feel I must clarify, it's not purely Pocket Operators on the record. The core of each track is POs, but there's a tonne of DAW work, processing, chopping, reinforcing, and extra synth parts (a lot of OPZ and OP1). They're tracks that began life as PO tunes, but were developed in the studio.
In answer to your question, my favourite is definitely the PO32. It's just so damn versatile and useful.
@@missingreels Either way the music is fantastic and creative and I love it :)
Double thank you! ☺️
The graphic art is very designers republic in style...
Your music clearly has a very warp, rephlex vibe... love it
Thanks Louis! Yeah I'm a big fan of DR, Warp and Rephlex. Clearly I wear my influences on my sleeve!
@@missingreels yes u do, largely a big influence in me as well. I have a po33 and a Korg nts1 I've been toying with. If i have time ill post some beats, the only hardware I've ever owned and I'm pleasantly surprised at the general quality in sound and product.
Yeah they're great sounding machines. I picked up an NTS1 just before Christmas and am really impressed with it.
@@missingreels yes the po33 and nts1 sound incredible! I still have yet to synch them, still not sure what cable i need. Cant wait to use it with ableton and plug ins. I havent really had as much time with the nts1 as id like. Great 1st track, ill have to find the album later today. That track reminds me a lot of early benn jordan aka flashbulb
Haha! Well I'm a massive Flashbulb fan too! Most of the old Sublight roster in fact.
Awesome 🤩
I love your work. I can't wait to rave to some of these tunes when gigs can happen again... you are going to do gigs, aren't you?
Haha! You pretty much have to say you love it Avie. But thank you anyway. X
And yeah, I'm open to playing gigs again whenever such things return.

just a heads up, bandcamp link in the description is broken for me :)
Thanks for letting me know. It appears to be working for me, so I'm not sure what's going wrong. I'll investigate.
muyyyyyyyy buenoooooo
Gracias!
How did you record the tracks? Like a live recording and then did mastering?
It varried from track to track. Often I multitracked the separate voices one at a time, so like the PO32 has four voice polyphony and I'd lay down each of those separately. Sometimes they were just layed down in one take. But then I recorded other instruments on top, OP1, OPZ, MS2000, internal Ableton synths etc. Then I got choppy and edity in Ableton.
Smart to record the 'lanes' of the po-32 separate. Thanks!
