In the time of the Messenger rich people ,in particular among the non-muslims, they wore robes flowing and reaching the ground. That was pride. Today if our trousers are below the ankles, there is no pride. It's only present day style. There are times when style is to wear trousers above the ankle. A hadith relating a conversation between Abu Bakr Siddiq (ra) and the Messenger SAW confirms what has been said above. One must understand the meaning of the hadiths before drawing conclusions.
Asalaam alaikoem so your opinion is more dominant than the countless ahadeeth speaking against it. Many ahadeeth say, if not worn out of pride and even then one should not wear it below the ankles. Never put your opinion above that of the prophet, there is wisdom in everything the prophet spoke of and did.

He kept saying "trousers," but I'm pretty sure they weren't wearing trousers but rather the Arab Thawbs. Nobody who wears jeans or trousers covers their ankles with them out of pride; it is just how these clothes are worn by everyone whether rich or poor.
It's about the context. In prophet Muhamad (pbuh) time it was a sign of arrogance that's why the prophet said to not do it. But today it has absolutely nothing to do with arrogance. And the vast majority of scholars says it's not haram. And Allah knows best.
@@limitedquantitysufiyyahexp4905 There are 3 opinions 1. Mubah - which is the opinion of Imam Abu Haneefah (ra) 2. Makruh 3. Haram The vast majority of the early classical scholars do not hold the position to be Haram.
Wearing YELLOW is haram or not. Many people says yellow allowed but jafroon is haram, orange is haram.. What should I wear Yellow or Orange. I need REF about Both colour for my friends. I want to full Clear about it.
It should be the right length, not short not long. I think the aim is to keep cloths clean. A garment dragging on the floor is obviously not clean. It takes germs onto the floor of the houses and masjids where people pray. This shows the prophet Mohammed pbuh had the knowledge of germs and how decease propagated.
Also if you keep the garment only for praying and do not wear it outside or in bathrooms and this garment is longer than ankle length then it should be ok.
I am a short and skinny person and finding trousers that don’t fall to my ankles is near impossible. I don’t have the time to get them all tailored. If I fold them, they will just slip down again so it becomes a hassle.
Yeah true. But the context in those days were different to that of ours. In those days rich people used wear trousers below ankles and dragged them to show off that it doesn’t matter if the dress is spoiled a bit cuz they had many and they could afford many.
@sadaalmady If you cant tolerate someone like me who speaks sense then next time don't bother talking on Jews and Christians and learn to mind your own business and religion. And one can wear underwear which are way above the ankle and a perfect sunnah
@sadaalmady The real hater was your prophet who hated Jews and Christians and hate and jealousy can be seen all over your face. I dont believe in padeophile prophet anyways
QUESTION: The Prophet peace be upon him said BELOW the ankle is in hellfire (abbreviating) - He did not say ABOVE THE ANKLE - why is everyone saying above the ankle? The question is can we cover the ankle as long as it is not BELOW the ankle. I hope you get the picture. Barak Allah
Subhan Allah He Said In The Holy Quran That Females All Of Her Body Is Not To Be Shown Except Her Hand From The Wrest and Her Face Otherwise The Rest Of Her Body Is Haram To Show and I Just Have To Pray To Allah To Bless your Soul And Heart My Beloved Brother and I Also Would Like To Ask You To Keep Up The Good Work as You’ve Always Have Been Doing
I agree that intention is a large portion of it; however the environment and habitat is perhaps a bigger determinate of that and what's worn or how. Cultural practises and norms being the next major influence that follow were environmental conditions allow. Obviously extreme colds of -20 Celsius would not be applicable to the deserts of Arabia, as it is in Canada or Siberia where your trousers are tucked below your ankles and into your shoes. Furthermore - in my opinion - the vile / dirt, applicable to the urban streets of most major cities (sometimes with dog excrement too), would be better on ones shoes or the lower part of the trouser - if the trouser is below the ankle and laying on top of the shoes - than to have such elements on ones socks or worse on the flesh that would be more likely if wearing above the ankle and thus exposing that area. What's more I find it illogical to argue for shortness when in fact it ought to be proportional and with consideration to the length of one’s own leg, comfort and well-being. Also can you draw on any Quaranic versus stating cover up to here but not there or that covering up-to here would be a sin? - On the contrary cover all or as much as you want so long as it's not with pride, flamboyance or any intent other than that for which god has given humanity clothing for - to protect and cover!
Imagine having pride while knowing there are 8 billion people in the world and there is always someone better looking, smarter, more successful, more fortunate, etc..

It was a sign of showing in those days therefore, anyone who does it out of showing off in our time is sinful too. The main reason reason for prohibition is arrogance and arrogance has been defined by our prophet (saw) in sahih muslim - to look down on people and reject the truth. There differences of opinion is whether it is a mere recommendation or compulsory without showing off - the majority of the scholars of the 4 madhab say it is sunnah but not compulsory and a person is not sinful, the minority say it is compulsory to wear it above the ankles. When it comes to valid difference of opinion there is not condemnation you can follow whichever view you find more convincing.
Saaiduna Abu Hurairah narrates that: “A man was praying with his garment below his ankles when the Prophet of Allah pbuh said: ‘Go and repeat your Wudu.’ So the man went and did his Wudu and returned. The Prophet of Allah pbuh said: ‘Go and repeat your Wudu.’ So the man went and repeated his Wudu and returned. The man asked: ‘O Prophet of Allah what is it that you told him to do Wudu (again) and then you did not say anything?’ The Prophet of Allah pbuh said: ‘He was praying with his garment below his ankles, verily Allah does not accept the prayer of a man who lowers his garments.’ (Sunan Abi Dawud p.100 v.1)
The prophet (saw) prohibited for a reason because of pride and also defined pride as "Looking down on people and rejecting the truth".(sahih Muslim) However, in the absence of pride ths prohibition does not apply as shown by the prophet (saw). When one of the companion s of the prophet's garments used to go below the ankles the prophet (saw) to him: He (saw) said to Abu Bakr: “You are not one of those who do it out of pride.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not say to Abû Bakr: “Do not worry about it because you did not let it slip on purpose.” Rather, he reiterated the matter of pride, and said to Abû Bakr that he was not doing so out of pride. Therefore, the reason for the prohibition is pride, and the ruling therefore only exists when its reason is present. In the absence of pride, there is no prohibition" This is the opinion majority of the early scholars view (please note some of the scholars hold that it's prohibited regardless of pride or not). According to the majority of the scholars it is a recommend sunnah but not compulsory and not prohibited when it goes down below the ankle. That is how the majority of the classical scholars understood: According to school of Imam Abu Haneefah: Imam Abu Haneefah (RA) wore an expansive rida’ (shawl) and let it drag on the ground. It was said to him: "Are we not forbidden to do this?: He said: "That is for those who show off and we are not among them" [Source: al-Fataawa al-Hindiyyah (5/333)]. This is a strong moral questions. What about women on trousers.
What about underwear, hats, socks, bikinis, shorts, t-shirts, sleeves etc.
We r blessed that we live in that era where we have scholar like u
Mashallah as always one of the best explanations! 🙂🙂🙂

*The first question will be asked on the day of judgment is about Salah.*
*If we have prayed it correctly then we will be saved Inshallah.*
*If you are not praying any salah then begin with Fard(Obligatory) Salah.*
*If you count the time for only Obligatory prayer then it will not exceed even an hour of your 24 hour.*
*Each Obligatory salah will take 10 minutes.*
*Multiply it with 5 Salah and it will take only 50 minutes of your 24 HOURS.*

If I fold them, they will just slip down again so it becomes a hassle.
fold them with your socks. Issue solved
Jazak Allahu Khairan
What has trousers got to do with pride. Rather give respect to women and don't treat them like commodity.
Yeah true. But the context in those days were different to that of ours. In those days rich people used wear trousers below ankles and dragged them to show off that it doesn’t matter if the dress is spoiled a bit cuz they had many and they could afford many.
So why is Zakir asking to follow it now since those days are long gone. Rather he should ask to stop following polygamy and respect women
@sadaalmady If your a true follower of Jesus then go and get baptized as Jesus did.
شكرا و جزاك الله خيرا في الدنيا والأخيرة
we have heard and we obey,no more wearing the trousers below the ankle even if it will make me look like a joker

What is the reason of doing so..Is it harmful to us..I try to wear pants above ankle..But i want to know the reason for doing so..

Dr sahb g
Good explanationa
13:12 what is the Iman he's referencing and the book that the Imam wrote? I'm interested in reading the book.
I totally agreed with you
But can you tell me why it is necessary.
What's wrong if our izaar is below the ankle
The prophet (saw) prohibited for a reason because of pride and also defined pride as "Looking down on people and rejecting the truth".(sahih Muslim) However, in the absence of pride ths prohibition does not apply as shown by the prophet (saw).
When one of the companion s of the prophet's garments used to go below the ankles the prophet (saw) to him:
He (saw) said to Abu Bakr:
“You are not one of those who do it out of pride.”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not say to Abû Bakr: “Do
not worry about it because you did not let it slip on purpose.” Rather, he reiterated
the matter of pride, and said to Abû Bakr that he was not doing so out of pride.
Therefore, the reason for the prohibition is pride, and the ruling therefore only
exists when its reason is present.
That is how the majority of the classical scholars understood:
According to school of Imam Abu Haneefah:
Imam Abu Haneefah (RA) wore an expansive rida’ (shawl) and let it drag on the ground. It was said to him:
"Are we not forbidden to do this?:
He said:
"That is for those who show off and we are not among them"
[Source: al-Fataawa al-Hindiyyah (5/333)].
According to school of Imam Shaafi (ra):
Imam al-Shaafi (RA) said:
It is not permissible to let the garment hang low when praying or otherwise in order to show off.
As for letting the garment hang low for reasons other than showing off when praying, it is not as serious, because of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) when he told him that his izaar slipped down on one side: “You are not one of them (i.e., those who let the garment hang down out of pride).”
[Source: Quoted by Imam al-Nawawi in al-Majmoo’ (3/177]
According to school of Imam Malik (ra):
In Shaykh Al-‘Adawi’s commentary on the Risala of Ibn Abi Zayd, he discusses the two opinions in the Maliki madhab one prohibiting the matter and the other considering it disliked. He says, “In conclusion, there are varying narrations about this matter if the garment is worn below the ankle without the intention of arrogance. According to the conclusion of Al-Hattab, there is no prohibition, rather it is disliked.
According to the school of Imam Ahmed hanbal (ra):
This is indeed the opinion of most scholars, as well as one of the two views on the topic expressed Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (RA)
According to the Hanbalis, as is found in the books Al-Iqnaa’ and Al-Mughni, it is considered disliked but not forbidden.
Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah (RA) is of the view that the general Ahadeeth that prohibit wearing clothes below the ankle are restricted by the Ahadeeth that prohibit doing so out of pride and arrogance. Therefore, if wearing clothes below the ankle is for the purpose of pride and showing off, then this is forbidden, and if it is not for this purpose, then it is not forbidden.
Allah hates it and anything below is in the Hell-Fire! What other reason do you need!
dr zakir, i live in a country where it is cold most of the time, i dont put any pride in wearing my trousers or pyjamas below or above, but its most of the time longer than that , i fold it up and wear it like that during salah.. now i am scared of commiting a major sin,i also know that i should not be wasteful with buying new wearables, i also dont want to cut my pants and other belongings to the perfect length or dont want to pay a lot for special tailoring...
