When I was in 3rd grade, I decided I wanted to be an author when I grew up. The teacher told me “authors usually use their own life experiences in their writing” and I was worried that I was too boring to become an author. So I started praying, please God make my life interesting so I can be an author. Don’t ever do that! My life has been excruciatingly interesting… maybe if I start writing books then things will finally calm down… but of course I’ll be living in the jungle with my herd of cats as I do, so I guess I’ll always be at least a little bit interesting.
No fooling. I like my quiet, contemplative and mostly solitary life more when I hear these horror stories. lol.

As someone who has 7 cats, I can confidently claim that feeding 50 cats high-end gourmet cat food will be exponentially more money than $600 per month. More like $6000 per month or more depending on if you are feeding, wet, dry, or raw, and also depending on what you consider gourmet.

It was close when he spoke of the students eagerly awaiting being taught about Scottish literature.
She volunteered for animal shelters, why isn't that enough? I used to be a vet tech for a cat shelter. I enjoyed my job, but it was so emotionally and physically taxing. The shelter was constantly in the red financially. We were always short on meds because the cats were so sick upon arrival. I will never forget coming to work one morning to see a USPS box by the front door. Inside were 6 newborn kittens, 3 of which froze to death overnight. I will not forget that.
People are terrible to animals. I have rescue bunnies and bunnies are so mistreated it’s infuriating.
People are so against animal abuse yet they’re ok with eating animals knowing how factory farming works, they’re ok with buying bred dogs knowing how puppy mills work, people are ok with hunting, as long as they don’t have to witness it. Cognitive dissonance.
@@HeatherHolt I am okay with hunting because my dad taught me to thank the animal. It was kind of sad, but he taught me how people chasing only after the trophy buck were hurting the deer genetics, and since we have no predators anymore except coyotes (who could only take a fawn) and on rare occasions a bobcat or puma, it is our responsibility to handle the population. We ate what we hunted.
But what I cannot handle is an animal who is domestic being abused. I remember vividly a guest in my home laughing at my leopard gecko and claiming it wasn't an animal worth anything.
Wtf? An insect is VITAL to the survival of our species. We cannot live without pollenation.
Sorry to ramble, I guess what I'm saying is that agree to disagree about being vegetarian, and I try to negate that by hunting or not seeking factory farming for my protein.
@@Flufferz626industrial farming is terrible on both sides anyway, largely 2 separate systems that are very un sustainable and depleting our soil. Industrial agriculture and feed lots... it used to be a balanced system where farms raised animals who roamed and grazed, naturally enriching the soil for the plants. The plants fed the animals and in turn animal feces fed the plants. The animal populations of feed lots are astounding, very unnatural, overcrowded and unhealthy, fed "feed" diets of grains and antibiotics that is unnatural for the animal's digestive tract and making it sicker with inflammation....this has to be unhealthy for people who eat it also. Yes this mass production has decreased meat prices for consumers and gives more product faster, but a high percentage of industrial grains are grown to feed these animals. Throw in the fact that industrial agriculture has modified the wheat so much that it isn't even the same grain our geandparents ate and causes allergies , inflammation and intolerances for many people and is loaded with pesticides. Our overconsumption and the industries taking over have largely reduced the livelyhood of our small local farms (especially organic ones), as the government gives substities to the big corporations to further perpetuate this agricultural nightmare (on both sides, animals and produce). Most people now are so disconnected from their food sources it seems crazy. Maybe consuming less meat, supporting local sustainable farms etc might push our food system back to a sustainable balanced cycle? I think it's gotten so out of control and whether we are vegan, vegetarian or omnivore doesn't really matter much at this point being that agriculture as a whole is so unsustainable, what will the future hold if it doesn't stop?
Good on you for your practices and your dad for teaching you about sustainability and food sources. I'm vegan, been vegetarian on and off (mostly on) 27 years but I don't criticize those who eat meat, I do criticize the industrialized food systems.
@@HeatherHoltI agree with you about all this, its awful and the cognitive dissonance is real, people are so disconnected from their food sources also. Animal mistreatment is awful and cruel, the animal farming and feedlot practices are so awful and unsustainable, but many people advocating about industrialized farming look at the issue of the animals but completely either ignore or do not know that industrialized agriculture is also terrible with very unsustainable practices. It is depleting our soil, ruining our food system and nutrition through modifications and pesticide loading in order to have bigger, faster crops. What used to be a balanced system in farming, a cycle where animals roamed and grazed on the plants while their feces naturally enriched their soil, roaming chickens ate bugs from the crops, has been separated into two different systems, both with unsustainable practices. So many vegans and vegetarians are preaching about the animal side which is indeed terrible, but forgetting that we are so unbalanced all the way around.

You sure said a mouthful at the end to sum up this case. I could never say all of that at once. I looked up the case of Joanna Findlay before watching this video. I thought Joanna was the one who died at first, but it was her husband who allegedly took his own life. I love cats but I could never take in 50 of them. Maybe two or three. If my cat's pregnant, I would give most or all of the kittens away and maybe keep one. I feel Iike Joanna has some mental instability. Her husband was sexually attracted to children as to why he was possessing child porn which isn't normal. He probably killed himself to avoid going to jail and losing everything. I just hope their pets were all given away to good homes.

Doc I love you but some of us actually do enjoy reading Scottish post colonial literature. That bit hurt. 😢
Just imagine how attacked you would feel if you were also a Justin Bieber fan from New Jersey!
I was a history major but I took a class in 19th century Russian literature in translation. The professor really annoyed me because he always mocked historians and history majors. He belittled them and ridiculed their topics for research papers and dissertations. For example, he judged topics like the significance of the importation of Western dress to Russia or the significance of the building of railroad in Russia, as frivolous and insignificant subjects. However, I shouldn’t object to his views; I believe that quantitative analysis of history is extremely soulless and evil. 😂
@@M-qw9ruThe bigger question is, how do you earn a living with said $100,000 degree?
Doesn't matter if it makes money to study it. Three years from now, AI will have read all the books and research and will write all future books. There will only be Post-Human Lit. Maybe Human Literary History will be a precious jewel.
@@M-qw9ru , I attended university in Canada. We didn’t have semesters; We paid for the calendar year from September through the end of April. Summer classes were an additional fee, though. Fees were low in relation to average wages. I attended four years for an undergraduate honours degree and the cost was about $1,200.00 per academic year, plus books. I graduated without owing any money. My friend who attended during the same time, rented her own apartment and paid cash for her tuition and books. She worked Friday nights and weekends as a barmaid. Her wages and tips were enough to cover everything so she also graduated without owning money. Several years later my son went to University of Georgia for one year. Everything was in quarters and each quarter cost a fortune and my husband and I were paying for it. We sent him back to Canada where he attended my university. Fees were about $1,800.00 per year. Now a couple of decades later, tuition is about $3,000.00 to $3,500.00. My university has an excellent reputation and has graduated students who became Rhode Scholars or attended graduate school at the American ivy league universities. The Canadian government subsidies students by giving the universities semi-generous funding in order to keep fees low. Minimum wage in my province is over $20.00 per hour now, to put it in perspective. Life is way less stressful for students when they aren’t being exploited for prohibitively expensive tuition fees. It’s criminal that students in the USA are graduating with enormous debt loads and I feel a lot of sympathy for them.
Shouldn't Gary's hands have been tested for gunshot residue?
Good point.
Yes. And were his fingerprints on the gun? And was there evidence of the shot into the floor? The physical evidence could help explain a lot in this case.
I’m sure they were. Which is why the judge would be convinced she didn’t do it, and why they eventually commuted her sentence.
Valid point. If not , why not. If so, why not mention it?
Police too busy being racist. 😅😅
Whenever I hear about a person busted with inappropriate pictures of children, it's nearly always 10s of thousands of pictures/video. It makes me wonder if the quantity is not their primary driver, a kind of obsession vs the fleeting adrenaline hit viewing such a picture would bring them.
The reason is because they often swap the entire contents of what they have for an equivalent amount of pictures, so in their minds more is better because it is more currency for the next trade, not necessary an image that they really like
Research shows that type of obsession is true regarding all types of pornography. Most addiction seems to be that way.
Almost certainly true. It's peculiar that people (usually men) with esoteric sexual perversions have a "completist" impulse when it comes to pornography.
Eh, I always just curated my porn. Quality over quantity.
The type to be into that kind of degeneracy might enjoy the fact that they have this glut of content that society "has no idea about". Kinda like Gary Ridgeway wanted a high body count, which may have contributed more to his choice of victim than any psychosexual condition.
@@youngspaghettii OK, that makes some sense in as much as anything around this topic could.
It's easier than most people think for a cat population to get out of control. In the late 90s ,a feral female with a litter moved into my neighbor's garage.Within a few years multipled to almost 40 until feline leukemia came along and wiped out nearly all but 3.
And in those years nobody thought of neutering the cats?
@@unknownthirdplaceI once lived in a country home where my neighbor's cat gave birth to a litter of kittens in my yard. I spoke to the neighbor and his wife about spaying their cat and they were not interested. So I went to the local veterinary clinic, rented a live-trap and caught their cat on the first night. I then took it to the vet and had it fixed. Never heard another word about it 👍
That's the long version of me agreeing with your comment 🙂
@@MEL2theJWere they "not interested" because of the cost and/or having to care for the cat in recovery, or did they flat-out refuse to force their pet to undergo surgery? I know there'd be hell to pay if someone kidnapped MY pet and forced him to undergo surgery. Although spaying/neutering are relatively safe, there are risks of complications with ANY surgery.
@MEL2theJ Not the smartest move. The cat is considered her property and would have EVERY right to file a complaint against you, and honestly, I wish she would have. That was not the right thing to do on your part. I'm sure if the same had been done to you, it would be a different story. That was illegal and wrong. If that were my cat, there would be hell to pay. The fact you believed you had ANY right to do that shows me everything I need to know about you as an individual.
I live in a remote jungle village and I have confiscated some cats from homes where they were being mistreated. The nearest veterinarian is eight hours away, so nobody does anything to care for any pets here. Animals live or die at the whim of nature. Right now I’ve got six cats but a friend of mine warned me that she has had as many as 18 at one point. It seems like we lose one every couple weeks - hawks carry them off, snakes get them, and who knows what else. Never thought I’d be a cat farmer but… we’ve got lots of room for them! Indeed, they multiply very very quickly. Without predators, it would only take a few months and we’d easily have fifty.
I hope all of the animals were rehomed safely.
I was thinking the same. Hopefully, they did find loving families for these animals.
They probably did especially considering the notoriety of this case. I really hope so. They are innocent victims of these very troubled people. 😼

Yes, and the point isn’t even anti-cat. Amassing dozens of any mammals, or birds for that matter, is filthy.
it would take hours every day of cleaning. It is feasible but for sure exhausting work to maintain a standard of cleanliness.
@@smfarrie2943 cats who are stressed, often will urinate and defecate outside of their litter box. Almost all of my cats have done so at least occasionally at some time and some do so regularly. I cannot see a scenario, even with constant cleaning, that this would be sanitary in any way. Additionally when cats don't have access to a clean litter box they will also urinate and defecate outside of their box. There are many cats who don't like sharing as well. Most cats are pretty sensitive to stress and I don't see how how 50 of them together wouldn't affect their stress in a negative way. Think about putting 50 small humans into a single space and even if they are potty trained, they will likely even demonstrate signs of stress and will likely develop some behavior problems as a result I also have a small human of my own and just one can honestly create masses and unsanitary conditions almost non-stop. Stress will also caused her to urinate outside of the toilet. I have a 3200 square foot home and I find that even with four adults and her, as well as 3 cats who all stress each other out in some way, spend almost all of my time cleaning. And I am at home and not working. Even with constant daily cleaning, it is impossible to keep everything clean all the time. If you came into my home, you would definitely find it pretty dirty and messy, despite constant cleaning. This has a negative effect for all mammals who reside within the home as before I had my daughter everything was very manageable and clean. There is not a single human who can singularly clean all the time and keep up. I am also cleaning up after my cats urinating and defecating all of the time and also as a bit of cat psychology, cats will urinate audacity on one clothing and bedding of the people they are closest to especially when they are stressed or they become insecure about their attachment to you. Case in point, I had two pregnancies, and unfortunately one that was unsuccessful. But in both cases all three cats that reside in my home, exhibited behavior problems including defecating in my space, and urinating constantly on my bed. I wasn't able to explain this but I was told by a midwife as to why this happens. This coupled with the fact that pregnant women are advised not to get near any cat feces because of toxoplasmosis which can be fatal to a fetus. I found that my daughter's father and male roommate who both have had other kids did not help because these were "my cats". I was even tested to see if I had antibodies against this airborne disease and I did not even though I had cared for many cats for over 30 years. I've suffered from severe allergies and Pulmonary issues my entire life and have constantly been told by doctors not to have any cats in my home, because they assumed that they were the source of these problems. Of course I've had testing and I'm not allergic because I grew up with cats. But there is a significant population of people who are highly allergic to cats, and a segment of people, not just pregnant, who are vulnerable to toxoplasmosis. I just don't see how this could provide any suitable situation for humans or cats. I think living with more than two or three adult cats is getting into a potential danger zone. This is regardless of the size of the space as well as the constant cleaning.
Dr. Grande, your alliterations passed legendary status about two exits back. People will be marveling at your oratory outros for eaons. ❤ P.S.: Cats are awesome, sweet and goofy, albeit occasionally expensive. Great use of alliteration Dr Grande. Love your sense of humour!
Group of student waiting to learn about Scottish post colonial lecturer!! Seems their wish wont be granted!!! LOL That was Gold. You sir made me laugh We really do love your work! Be safe and be well!
I love the final thoughts. You never cease to surprise me! So brilliant Dr Grande 👏🏼
The alliteration in your analysis is absolutely astounding!
Love your channel, Doc. Thank you.
A personal best on the alliteration LOL! My guess? The authorities would have let her off, but felt they needed to do something. The judges, prosecuters, etc. see so many horrific cases involving child porn they most likely didn't give a crap about the guy being dead. I don't. I do agree with you that he did most likely kill himself rather than face the public outing of his kiddie porn activities.
Love your channel and demenour and cases you analyze. I don't say that nearly enough but have been watching a lot lately and have been for a long time. So unique and nicely done. 😊
Excellent alliteration!!!!
Tip of the hat and a chef's kiss.
Thank you Dr Grande as always! Your analysis was simply 'poetic." 😊😁
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
On a well maintained farm 50 cats would only be 5 or 6 cat trees. It's really only when the farm goes feral that you have a problem.
Also spaying and neutering,
Oh Dr Grande! You DO make me chuckle! What a fffffffantastic ending! ❤
"There would be no more gourmet cat food." You rogue.
An excellent demonstration of alliteration in the final analysis of this compelling case.🙂🙂🙂
Agreed. I know a man around the same age that sat in his comfy chair and shot himself in the heart. I’m a bit surprised they prosecuted her. As an avid gun enthusiast I doubt she would have shot the floor if she was aiming at him at all.
Thank you Dr. Grande. Great video as always ❤
Dr. Grande! My husband & I find ourselves watching your videos as soon we get on RUclips. Your titles are just. . . impossible to not click. I mean, once we read the titles we realize we HAVE to watch the video. GREAT CONTENT! Thanks!!!
Random thought: You should do a second channel devoted to Good Samaritans & triumphant acts of the human spirit & the psychology of the people behind them.
Double dip, doctor!
❤
A sci fi channel all about alien 👽 lizard humanoids, now that would rock
What a wonderful idea, it’s far too often that we hear of the worst people in the news and in social media. I do believe Dr Grande is putting out one of these videos everyday so I think his capacity for more content is limited. This is why he’ll discuss historical cases and revisit others.
Mm, not so much.
@@pipermccool Your opinion is as qualified as it is constructive, here. This is an intellectual country club & you’ve somehow stuck yourself in the revolving door. See your way outside as best you can.
That was some fantastically fine alliteration, Dr G❤❤❤
Thank you, Dr Grande for another great case! I loved your final analysis 😂
Dr. Grande, you gotta do the Adam Johnson death Matt Petgrave caused recently in a hockey game
It's "possible" that the recoil from a .357 in limp hands could have had the energy to send it 5 feet.
Fantastic! Love your wit and alliteration. 🙏
I appreciate all that you do and how you do it in these videos.
Early to this video, and I noted the Nebraska connection (where I was born and raised and lived the first half of my life). Also, I'd be interested in a future analysis of the Simpsons' "Crazy Cat Lady" character (I'm sure you'd have some interesting insights). Thanks, as always, Dr. Grande!
Did the cats all end up in nice homes?
It’d be nice if that was the case, but sadly it’s likely most were euthanized. 😢
Wow! I live less than an hour away from there and have not heard about this. Thank you for sharing, Dr. Grande!
Effing poetry in motion there right at the end Dr Grande! Effing good work! Lot's of LOVE
It’s Grande time! ❤ Let’s do this. Thank you for yet another interesting video, Dr. Grande.❤ We appreciate your even and calm analysis of such cases.❤
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥳🥳
Could the recoil of the gun have propelled the revolver out of his hand and 5 ft away from Gary?
Yes.
No.
Fantastic format friend.
Great analysis! Thank you, doctor.
Thanks for the upload, Dr. Grande! Your true fans love your humour and sarcasm! November 21 is World Television Day, Nostalgia For The Future Day, National Cranberry Day, World Hello Day, False Confessions Day, Alascattalo Day, Children's Grief Awareness Day, National Gingerbread Day (gotta have some Lambertz Pfeffernüsse Glasiert iced gingerbread cookies later!), World Fisheries Day, National Red Mitten Day, Pumpkin Pie Day, No Music Day, and National Stuffing Day.
Wow, love the great wordplay Dr Grande. 🗣️
Great analysis Dr Grande thanks for sharing
Isolated academic couples can have some unusual, experimental ideas about how to live.
It would be strange to live on a farm with two academics.
I can imagine that much of the bad behavior was motivated by boredom and loneliness.
No DNA or gunshot residue testing on her or the the .357 revolver?
Love your dry sense of humor Dr. Grande! You're a fantastic forger of phrase. Enjoy your videos very much. 😀
It’s part of my guilty pleasure routine watching Dr Grande everyday 😌
I’m from Russia
I like vodka, so I like Russia.
Good grief. I think everything that can happen to people happened with these people. They might have missed a few events, like embezzlement, or setting fire to a forest, but they covered a lot of stuff in their time together.
I live for these uploads....thanks Dr Grande!
I love the alliteration that you use to sum things up. Well thought out and well written. lol!
Always interesting
Thank you
Please Have a nice Thanksgiving 🙏 everyone here...count your blessings...be Kind to your family..... take No one for granted.... pray to God. Keep your Faith
Just a reminder I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video, only speculating about when someone has an incident on a feline farm like this with Incidents of cataplexy, catatonia, and of course, feline leukemia
That was a commanding alliterative wrap up. Hats OFF !
Happy Thanksgiving Dr. and Mrs Grande.🦃
Doc I'm still waiting for the t-shirts that say "I'll put the link to Patreon in the description for this video"
I want one that says:
"I'm not diagnosing anyone, just speculating on what could be happening in a situation like this"
Hello 👋 good Dr. Grande 😊
