    As a long-time listener of jungle/DnB but never having played around with the tracker workflow these tutorials are amazing. There's a lot of tutorials on how to make music on this tracker but not starting from the very basics like you do. Subbed.

    Hi, thanks for the Tutorials, its very helpful, i also translate a tutorial in german language ^^,
    - to make it more easy to understand, have the keys you press shown in the video itself, there are also some tools what shows the keys you press (on win i use carnac) so in a session we see used keys instantly, that would be awesome and more helpful ;) cheers* keep going on

    Getting a numpad is such a nono when you pick renoise up just for the sake of being as portable as you can with that keyboard workflow. I really struggle with finding a solution for my mac laptop (someone's keymap xml maybe) to start writing music/learning workflow instead of figuring out what keys should I rebind...

      Yea I feel you. Having the extended keyboard really does add a lot of very useful hotkeys to Renoise. I've had a look online but I think I might be down to you to assign them. I would suggest using double modifier keys to avoid conflicts. Also if you look at my 3 Hotkeys videos - In the comments, I list all the useful hotkeys from that video. You could copy them all to a page and set them up which should cover you for most of the essential hotkeys!

    I was hoping for close to zero mouse use 🤔 can this be done?

      @groovining  3 года назад +2

      Of all the DAWs in the world - yes Renoise you can get very close to zero mouse use. Certain tasks are however easier with the mouse. The Pattern editor in particular I do entirely with the keyboard :)

    ...can't figure out how to see which note I'm hitting on the keyboard...I'm having to repeatedly hit in record mode then delete, isn't there a function that shows them in real time?
    I know Z is C#...well I think I know, would have to check...see how this is annoying? If there isn't a view for it, I guess I'll write them all down.

      If you click on the sampler tab you can see the keyboard at the bottom of the screen. You can detach the sampler window also so you can view it alongside the pattern editor. Look for the little diagonal arrow in the top right

      Also a in Renoise a lot of the workflow is about transposing notes and programming step by step. Look up the hotkeys to pitch the notes up by semitones :)

      @@groovining the problem isn't the keyboard at the bottom of the screen lol. I've found that, it is that I don't read/know notation, so when I hit a key, be it on computer keyboard or the renoise one, it still won't show the corresponding note...Edit: it will show it, but only in record mode, which really slows the workflow for my uneducated self, since I have to endlessly tinker to find the note the dude in the tutorial is mentioning.

      @@ArmageddonAfterparty sorry man. I’m struggling to understand your problem. What do you mean by corresponding note? Your in record mode so you can enter in notes. Then transpose them around until something sounds good
