It's so disrespectful.. everytime I saw a tribute this year I couldn't believe they left him out.. in this time he was selling more records than any hip hop artist.
No one and I mean NO ONE moved like The Hammer. He is one of the most entertaining people to ever hit the stage. Most of his critics are just jealous of his incredible talent and ability.
He opened the 1991 American Music Awards, not the Billboard Music Awards but I know everything you're saying! That performance was incredible! The energy was on another level.
I just saw MC Hammer perform "Turn This Mutha Out" last Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 in Utah. It was an incredible concert. The best concert I have ever personally witnessed so far in my life. Thank you MC Hammer! You are the KING and you are a Champion. You are Unstoppable.
This song was his best. Haven't seen this video is forever but it's clear he had moves. Rest of this album was good too. Wrongly persecuted by the hip-hop community back then for being a "crossover". Most every current hip-hop artist owes a debt of gratitude to MC Hammer for the audience they have today
Hammer! A dancing fool!- Seen him in concert, Omg, was on my feet all night-Lol. Years ago rap artists called him a "sellout" but he was doing back then what so many artist dreamed to do today. Sometimes he was even the first rap artist to do it-Commercials, cartoons, movies, even dolls(action figures), clothing! No other rap artist did all of this at the time. So he opened doors (indirectly)even for the ones who laughed at him. So I will always love Hammer. Some of these artists today are reaping the benefits of his ingenuity!!!-So thanks Hammer!!!
Annette Jenkins The irony is that some of the same ones that called him a sell out "sold out" themselves doing the EXACT same thing (Ice Cube for example with the movies, commercials, etc.). Hammer was no doubt the first crossoever rap star. When you are the first anything, sometimes you won't be appreciated until years later
662chillin True! I wrote that in another post. Alot of people today are still riding his coat tails-He opened the doors and the others just came pouring in afterwards. And yet some still disrespect him because of financial problems. But his ingenuity is what help got some of them where they are now.
Much respect. . Hammer had the 90s on lock. Hammer did what most rapper wouldn't do today, put his boyz on pay roll w/him. U turn out , alot of concerts. Much respect ✊
That move he does at 3:39 defies all principles of physics and has perplexed me for YEARS.. It's like what Morpheus said in The Matrix: "Some rules can be bent...while others can be broken." That's a baaaaaaad man.
I remember when mc hammer first hit the mainstream he was huge!! And I,m from new zealand! We all tried to copy his dance moves" hell I even had a pair of his huge elastic waste pants!!! Great memories" and this song is up there with one of the all time best beats in hip hop history!!! Never gets old"✌
I saw him perform this song live in concert. It was just a few weeks before he released "Can't Touch This" and blew up into a huge superstar. He was the last act in a concert with a bunch of other hip hop artists at the time. He and Kool Moe Dee were the most memorable
Thank you. There are alot of people who still love his music. When he performed in Brooklyn last summer everybody in the audience was singing along to his songs. I was a huge fan and I remember this kid from my church getting pissed and saying he should slap me for buying his Please Hammer Don't Hurt' Em tape. I still love his music and BET Needs to honor him.
I Love MC Hammer! I Love his originality, his Great dancing & his showmanship! I lived in NYC when he 1st came out and I was one of the very few that Loved MC Hammer's music/dancing and still would support him today. You did Well, MC Hammer... From one of your biggest fans..... :-)
Hammer will always be the best! If anyone was "keeping it real" it was Hammer. He kept it real by not forgetting where he came from, but also by giving jobs to many who no longer claim him as a friend. Stanley Burrel a.k.a. M.C. Hammer will always be the best! Thanks for the music.
When MC took the stage, it was an event, not a shit talkin contest. He danced, moved and made you want to get up.... Real talent that not many can imulate....
MC Hammer should be included in the hip hop 50 years... he has contributed as much as anyone else.. he was not a sell out in my opinion... he was his own man with his own vision.. hip hop needs to respect that... I still love MC Hammer, and his music and those dance moves were on point...
I'm about to see him perform at Cache Creek on May 2. He still rocks. He paved the way for a lot of peeps. He is part of Hip Hop and Music History like it or not. Go Hammer Go Hammer Go!
I'm saying... Hammer was never a lyricist but staying relevant for almost 10 years in the rap game (or music biz) is an accomplishment. And I will ALWAYS respect Hammer for going broke for trying to help a lot of people from his hood by taking them on tour (even when a lot of them turned on him). Hardly any rappers do that today...
We are hittin hard in Oakland.....WORD! We are hittin hard in L.A......WORD! Cleveland, Chicago & your town on fire!....WORD! WORD! WORD. Atlanta's proper!..WORD! And in Miami we are smooooth in somethin'!!!
Hammer remains the best dancer til this very day, hands down.when i am upset about something or just down i hear this song and it just cheers me up everytime people just act like they forgot about him and i dont understand it
2024 in this video is still hot! MC hammer and the dances in this video one magnificent. All the negative talk There will always be haters. People were making Very negative comments about MC hammer. But he was was still successful. He should have not let the words of other people make him stop rapping and dancing. Even though a lot of people We’re negatively talking. He was a gift that’s why he was so popular.
People who were not there don't understand, there was NOTHING Like Hammer when he dropped. He got so big that he became corny. That is how big he became. He became so big that he crossed into a realm where he was corny. I can't explain it. But it was not that he was corny, he just crossed into a realm that no one had ever seen from a rapper and people just started to hate him. But no one who was there can deny that when he dropped, he rightfully took over the entire game. This song is still a favorite all-time.
I don't care what NO ONE says about MC Hammer....I loved him & he has a SOLID place in Hip Hop History! He broke records & barriers & at that time he did so many things that a rapper had never did!!! I was a big fan...had the patent leather shoes and the dookie pants... MC Hammer was the BOMB!!! He could dance & I will continue 2 listen 2 his music!! #GOHAMMER!
The funniest part of this video is when the guy said, 'Hammah!!... You aint hittin' in NY... So whatcha gone do about that Haaammah!" -- I laugh because I know guys like that who challenge you in front of everybody... straight RAW and now he gotta come up and Turn This Mutha Out!
Mc Hammer is a phenom. He is the pinnacle of the dancing emcee. What he was criticized for, back then, rappers are striving to do today. Hammer, the best to ever do it.
Gotta throw Heavy D in there! Heav wasnt as much show but for a big guy he could move and his delivery was always top notch DIDILY DIDILY DIDILY DEEEEE!!!
In my opinion,Hammer was the greatest DANCING rapper of all time......and he had some impressive lyrical skills too....again this is just my opinion.
FACTS
Word word word
I agree. What other rapper could even approach his dance skills?
I agree with your opinion 😊
You are spitting straight facts.
How can you celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop and not have this man on the stage?
It's so disrespectful.. everytime I saw a tribute this year I couldn't believe they left him out.. in this time he was selling more records than any hip hop artist.

Still the greatest rap song of all time.
He opened the 1991 American Music Awards, not the Billboard Music Awards but I know everything you're saying! That performance was incredible! The energy was on another level.

This song was his best. Haven't seen this video is forever but it's clear he had moves. Rest of this album was good too. Wrongly persecuted by the hip-hop community back then for being a "crossover". Most every current hip-hop artist owes a debt of gratitude to MC Hammer for the audience they have today

You're still #1 to me!!!
Annette Jenkins The irony is that some of the same ones that called him a sell out "sold out" themselves doing the EXACT same thing (Ice Cube for example with the movies, commercials, etc.).
