His only problem was that people rather hear fake millionaire rappers who are always talking about killing, drugs, baby mamas, child support and bitch bitch bitch. And yes, even I once fell under the spell that causes the hood to self destruct. I'm 42 now and I remember when I was 28, I started to despise rappers that rapped under empires like Cash Money Ruthless, Bad Boyz and No Limit. There was some good out of them, but not enough. Yah, its no wonder kids today hate everything, want to "tear down the system" change their gender. The 80s and 90s were amazing. A much simpler time, where you would wait in line at Tower Records to get the latest album on Tuesday, and spend Friday night watching the MTV countdown.
We are at the point of no return. At one time, I laid these debts on NWA and all other rappers that tore down the barriers in the industry. Over time, I realized that they actually innovated the industry...Re-invented it. After that, rap was one thing, but R and B became the main attraction up until 1999 when No Limit and Cash Money became the main event gibing Bad Boys and Ruthless some major competition. After the year 2000, the industry flourished, but at the same time, lyrics began to be a bit too real and not to mention, misleading. The one thing I didn't appreciate was the fact that we began to glorify the image of African Americans going to jail and dying in the streets from beef and petite disagreement to the point where we truly believe that this is the way it is supposed to be. The music is entertaining, but I'm here to remind us that life isn't all about drugs, pussy and alcohol. And if you are in your 40s and 50s like me and still acting like you are 10-25 years old, you need to grow the fuck up and get a grip of your communities before they are completely obliterated at our own hands.
Bro this is some MJ level production and choreography, how hammer was ever considered a ''joke" is beyond me. Bro had ENERGYYY. They need to bring this level of effort back to videos
This was actually supposed to be an orchestrated back and forth between him and Michael Jackson with James Brown as the mediator. But Michael's child molestation allegations came and it never happened. The collaboration between the 2 of them would've been epic!

Brenda ALFORD I remember the anticipation of this video from my Neice. She kept talking about it when it made its debut. Of course Mr. James Brown was what made me happy! But, all in all that Hammer can dance!!!! No cursing, no N word, nothing at all that a father couldn’t share with his kids. I miss MC Hammer. He was 2 legit 2 Quit!!

To everyone else who was born and brought up in the 80’s to 90’s will truly appreciate this. I’ll tell you that when big movies and big songs came out the world would stop. lines around the block would form and we didn’t even mind waiting as everyone waited joyfully. So much appreciation and excitement. It was a cool time in my life.
I've never seen a human being so full of energy all-in-one night on stage while dancing/rapping and keeping the pace.He needs to put that in a bottle and sell it.
You think I'm joking. I was dancing to this song and later that night it felt like Freddy Krueger and Edward Scissorhands were both taking turns slicing my shins down the front. plus both knees felt as if there wasn't any cartilage, just bone.
He brought a bunch of fans on stage to dance at his concert last night and I was one of them. Even though he is almost 60 he had them moves like he was 20!!!
I met him several years back at his son's football game. We were towing a float around the field with our tow truck and my husband told him I was his biggest fan and he stopped what he was doing and came over and signed an autograph for me. He was such a nice and wonderful man. I felt like I was back in highschool and I met my idol. I saw him at an awards show with Sai doing can't touch this and Gangnam style. All I can say was that man hasn't lost a beat. He's still got it. That was a great day for me 🫶 May God always bless you!

Not gonna lie. I wish more hiphop focused on dance. The beautiful, cathartic, act of dancing. There's so much expression in that. We need more of that.
The music today is too slow. In all genres, society has become dull and desensitized. When you stop dancing, you stop living life! Hip Hop, Rap, Soul, R&B, Rock and Pop is meant to be danced to. Gen Z are singing a lot of weak ballads about nothing in particular, they don't stand for love or humanity...
And the Black power and proudness in that video, Hammer and his dancers made specific stances and movements on purpose, to show the strength and versatility of Black people. Fantastic image for young Black kids.

This music video is phenomenal: the choreography, the musicians, the back up singers, the message, the artistry, the inclusivity, the spectacle, the descending from the rafters encompassed the theatrical. Thus, Hammer and his team had it all before everyone. Yes, God gave him a talent that he shared with all, and Hammer knew when it was tim to exit the stage! Oo-oop!
Weekends in the late 80’s-90’s: FRIDAY: AFTERNOON: After school you either do your homework as soon as you get home from school (or straight up lie saying it’s done/you don’t have any). Go outside to ride bikes, go to the friend’s house with the pool, the trampoline, or bball court. Whatever you were doing, you just better be home by the time the street lights came on! EVENING:Take your bath/shower, Dad gets home from work, and Friday was pizza night. Then we’d gather in the living room together- parents and siblings- with the TGIF lineup kicking off on ABC from 8p-10p. Followed by the news which marked our bedtime. SATURDAY: MORNING: Up at the buttcrack of dawn with a bowl of cereal hoping you were the lucky sibling who found the toy in the box. You’re up so early that the only thing on tv was Home Shopping Network, random Infomercials, and Bob Villa doing home renovations. 😂 Then the cartoons come on starting at 8a. When the rest of my siblings got up, we’d all use our two hour video game limit to play Sonic on Sega Genesis together. Then Mom took us to the library where we’d each check out two books… One that our parents picked for us (that we’d have to read and do a book report for Mom and Pop to read) and the other book we could choose for ourselves. AFTERNOON: Get home from the library and scatter. From cleaning and other chores, hanging out with friends, going out together as a family, going to each other’s activities like sports, etc. Hit Blockbuster Video and pick a movie (if/when ALL 5 of us had our chores done AND had a good week in school… no detentions, schoolwork done, and nothing less than a B+ on quizzes and tests… which was added pressure in school because you didn’t wanna be the sibling who ruined it for everyone else). And one of my favorite Saturday afternoon memories: Watching Kung Fu Theater just my Dad and me- while my Mom and sisters would be watching Lifetime Movies. PREVENING (the period between afternoon and night from around 5p-8p): Pops would give me a haircut, Mom and sisters did each other’s hair, and we’d all have to pick out our clothes and iron them so they were ready for church. And Saturdays, we’d have homemade cheesesteaks or hoagies… each making them how we liked them. (Fridays and Saturdays were the only nights Mom didn’t cook big homemade meals). EVENING: Unlike the TGIF lineup that the whole family would watch together, Saturday nights were just us siblings tuning in to SNICK at 8pm. Rug rags, Doug, All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Pete & Pete, Clarissa Explains it All, Keenan and Kel, etc. Just like TGIF, though, the lineup changed from time to time. My sisters watched until 10pm bedtime. Me? I was always a little punk, so Are You Afraid of the Dark wasn’t for me at the time.😂 SUNDAY: MORNING: Church, of course! Sunday School 10am-11am. And regular service from 11:30am-1pm. AFTERNOON: Get home from church, change clothes, then we’d get a head start on our library books (the reports being due Friday morning. Dad left for work at 4:30am everyday, so we’d have to leave the reports on the counter where he’d leave our lunch money before heading to school. He’d read them before going to work then leave them for Mom to grade). We’d be doing that until dinner was ready. Just like every other day, we ate dinner… TOGETHER… in the dining… at the dinner table. Then, you didn’t just eat, get up, and leave. When everyone finished eating, Pops would ask each of us about the week, good and bad. Then he’d ask about the upcoming week. I hated it at the time! All of our friends had tvs in the bed rooms and got to eat whenever and wherever they wanted to! They could watch tv and everything! But I realized as an adult that while I was wishing I was in their shoes, they were wishing to be in mine! They got all the toys, clothes, video games, everything! When I had to rush home with the streetlights coming on while they could stay out late and go do whatever they wanted to do, I resented having parents that forced us to eat together, wouldn’t allow us to go be at friends’ houses whose parent/ parents weren’t home leaving them/us unsupervised. In school, we ALWAYS had to sit in class on Monday hearing the stories about all the big fun we missed out on not being there! And as an 11+ year old kid, it SUPER sucks to be the only one on the outside of an inside joke! LoL! But, I digress. SUNDAY EVENING: After dinner, we’d get our school supplies packed and our clothes ready for school. Then it’s chill mode. By then, it’s 5:30p/6p. We’d play a board game or something together and/or gather around the tv to wind down. Pop in the movie we rented from Blockbuster (when movies were 75-90 minutes long) and end with shows like America’s Funniest Home Videos and other Sunday Night family stuff. We weren’t allowed to watch the Simpsons or In Libing Color because our parents didn’t play that stuff AT ALL! The moment profanity or sexual innuendo hit the screen, it’s game over for that show! LoL. To end the night , we knew it was bedtime when boring a$$ 20/20 came on. I know… I know. The length of this comment is absolutely outrageous to the social media generation. But hey, what’s to be expected from a guy whose parents made him read books and turn in book reports every week?! Oh, and… That wasn’t a rare, one time type of thing, either. Neither were we homeschooled! And I’m not sure what’s worse… Having to do that ON TOP OF our actual classwork during the school year… Or having to do it over spring break and summer vacation. What do you fine ladies and gentlemen think?

Damn Hammer was the sh** in the 90’s! I sure do wish I could rewind time. I member living in this neighborhood where all my friends lived. We would have birthday parties every year and our cousins and friends would come over and we would be dancing to this song. Man good ole days. We lived in that neighborhood for 13 yrs. I miss it sooooo much😩😩😩😩 iam now 42 lol! Memories I will forever hold.
Joel Garcia No. Even MJ had small set of moves. Hammer was faster and had a variety of moves. Try dancing to both their dance steps and you will know yourself which one was more taxing and difficult.
Patrick Randall He never rose above MJ when it came to dances! Really and his 3 year rise ended when he challenged MJ faded like butter on a hot griddle
We had no idea we were living through an artistic Golden Age of Black culture, dance, and music. I miss this era so much, and I admit I took it for granted at the time.
Hammer and C&C Factory were the real deal. Nothing compares to the 90s when it comes to clean, hard hitting and danceable tunes. We were alive when it happened, and no generation may enjoy this better than we did.
MC Hammer was and is nothing but the truth. He definitely kept it clean and respectable and they couldn't handle that. He didn't need the gangster style. He had a style of his own. Do it again MC Hammer. I know you can. Love lyou MC HAMMER.
Hammer was a Straight G!!! First hip hop artist to go DIAMOND!!! Think about that. People don't realize his impact unless you lived through it. Broke down doors for artists today in so many ways. Hammer didn't need to pretend to be hard because he was a tough dude on the REAL!!! People who put him down can go straight to you know where!!!
A video like this nowadays would cost hundreds of millions! This video and Michael Jackson’s Remeber The Time were mini movies back then. Michael and Hammer literally interrupted prime time television to premiere their videos! Had to be alive then to understand the magnitude of that…Epic is an understatement!
Michael Jackson and Madonna were the originals and the ones who changed the music video industry and the rest follow. Way before this video and Remember The Time there was "THRILLER", arguably the greatest music video ever.
@@fabiennefertiti3017 Agreed…the main point I was making overall was that back then those type artist took over prime time television just to premiere their videos. Each of them had ground breaking videos respectfully. No artist today has that kinda power nor are record labels spending that kinda money just for a video. It was a great time be alive musically.
@@fabiennefertiti3017 I'd say Michael and his sister Janet were the originals who changed the music video industry and innovators. Madonna had her thing too but she tended to follow trends more than set them.

Hammer refused to sell out so the industry bankrupted and blackballed him. Props to you, Hammer for remaining true to yourself and what you believe in. We still love you!
He had one hit and then this song. What was he going to sell out to? His fame was already going down the tubes by the time this song came out. He OVEREXTENDED himself and his money by over-paying his entourage. Then, he tried to build an estate the size of Neverland based on "Can't Touch This" money and challenged MJ to a dancing duel. (ROFL). Meanwhile, MJ built Neverland based on YEARS of performing with his brothers and at least 3 hit albums. Hammer can dance, but he's not a good rapper. He went way too arrogant too fast, went broke because of his arrogance. There was no selling out to be done. This whole video tells you he was trying to compete with MJ.
I don't care what anyone says MC Hammer and Michael Jackson are epic. Just because they're not in the spotlight anymore doesn't mean they don't have talent. I think both of them at their prime would destroy any current musical artist on the dance floor.
You're absolutely correct. Ice Cube was the one that went on a character assassinating campaign claiming that Hammer was a sell-out because he was mainstream and that "real" rap is underground. Cube accused him of being a corporate puppet and a pop star, not a rapper. Yeah, the same Cube that couldn't wait to turn his XXX rated rap career into the PG-13 tv/ film industry career. The same Cube that said "I Ain't The One" and warned you not to trust these hoes while his fat, suburban bred ass was chilling in a mansion w/ his wife and kids! SMH... Love me some Hammer and MJ, but I hate all of their haters. Ice Cube is an OG Hater! There was room in the game for both his style and Hammer's style but Cube, like 50Cent, needed to create controversy to get noticed by those corporate puppeteers that he so derided...Don't forget, Cube kept up that East Coast/West Coast sh*t, too. Dare I say he was the architect of that nonsense, too. Cube in the 60's would have been labeled an "agent provocateur" by freedom fighters AND his FBI handlers... He's an interloper... a double agent...a turncoat and a hypocrite.
Hammer was legendary back then! The energy he put into his performances is unmatched in today's rap performances. Who today brings that much energy and joy to their performances? Everyone is so dark and vulgar. Different times back then and better too in many ways starting with MC Hammer!
One of the best things about his shows was that he brought a great message that you didn't need to be vulgar in your lyrics to be huge back then. He kept it clean in his lyrics and his shows.
I prefer '80s rap over today's music. MC Hammer is still my favorite. I still remember watching the season finale of "Dancing With The Stars" and retired football player Emmet Smith and his partner, professional dancer Sheryl Burke were dressed like MC Hammer and danced to his rap "U Can't Touch This". At the end, they won. They did an amazing job.
Hammer was killing it back in the day. This video is still amazing to watch after all these years. I get exhausted just watching him dance. He was so big all these athletes and stars were happy to be in this video.
2021! I saw him in concert in 1992! Best, most exciting show ever! I was, am and always will be a HAMMER fan! Everybody had their clothes on, nobody was talking about sex, money, drugs, alcohol and everybody was really loving him!

I've never seen a human being so full of energy all-in-one night on stage while dancing/rapping and keeping the pace.He needs to put that in a bottle and sell it.
Who's forty or older and tried to relive these dances, but quickly found out shit aches now, that didn't when you were a teenager?
🙋🏽♀️ Me! I’m looking for the Icy Hot right now! 😂
You think I'm joking. I was dancing to this song and later that night it felt like Freddy Krueger and Edward Scissorhands were both taking turns slicing my shins down the front. plus both knees felt as if there wasn't any cartilage, just bone.

Not gonna lie. I wish more hiphop focused on dance. The beautiful, cathartic, act of dancing. There's so much expression in that. We need more of that.
Some day it will come back around
And best believe it that most of these rappers can throw down.
The music today is too slow. In all genres, society has become dull and desensitized. When you stop dancing, you stop living life! Hip Hop, Rap, Soul, R&B, Rock and Pop is meant to be danced to. Gen Z are singing a lot of weak ballads about nothing in particular, they don't stand for love or humanity...
that way...
And the Black power and proudness in that video, Hammer and his dancers made specific stances and movements on purpose, to show the strength and versatility of Black people. Fantastic image for young Black kids.

Way ahead of his time. The energy and dancing of the video plus this badAss anthem, if dropped today, would still shut it down. HAMMER WAS SERIOUS.
This song wouldn’t shut down nothing in todays time lmao
This music video is phenomenal: the choreography, the musicians, the back up singers, the message, the artistry, the inclusivity, the spectacle, the descending from the rafters encompassed the theatrical. Thus, Hammer and his team had it all before everyone. Yes, God gave him a talent that he shared with all, and Hammer knew when it was tim to exit the stage! Oo-oop!

this was a big big deal when these videos came out. EVERYONE sat around the TV watching like a movie. Great family time❤😊
Yup. This one and Michael Jackson Do You Remember The Time.
Weekends in the late 80’s-90’s:
FRIDAY:
AFTERNOON: After school you either do your homework as soon as you get home from school (or straight up lie saying it’s done/you don’t have any).
SATURDAY:
MORNING: Up at the buttcrack of dawn with a bowl of cereal hoping you were the lucky sibling who found the toy in the box. You’re up so early that the only thing on tv was Home Shopping Network, random Infomercials, and Bob Villa doing home renovations. 😂
Then the cartoons come on starting at 8a.
Me? I was always a little punk, so Are You Afraid of the Dark wasn’t for me at the time.😂
SUNDAY:
MORNING: Church, of course!
What do you fine ladies and gentlemen think?
u ain't never lied!!!

I 💯‼️ agree
I prefer '80s rap over today's music. MC Hammer is still my favorite. I still remember watching the season finale of "Dancing With The Stars" and retired football player Emmet Smith and his partner, professional dancer Sheryl Burke were dressed like MC Hammer and danced to his rap "U Can't Touch This". 2021! I saw him in concert in 1992! Best, most exciting show ever! I was, am and always will be a HAMMER fan! Everybody had their clothes on, nobody was talking about sex, money, drugs, alcohol and everybody was really loving him!
Don't forget about "She's Soft and Wet"
I bet that was an incredible time. Thanks for sharing!
I miss those days.
U stepped back in time when you went there so lucky
I went to his House Party Concert here in Houston summer 2019.
Dougie E Fresh. Kid n Play. Hammer.
The man outdanced me and several thousand other 40-somethings.
Best money spent on a concert
The man hasn't lost A STEP.
This was real music.
My 21, 19 and 14 year old sons appreciate the goodness that is Hammer. The 19 year old said "wow I wish music was this hype now. You got lucky and had good music while we are stuck with trash". I know son...I know lol
😂
Your sons are wise beyond their years
WISE SON SPEAKS THE WHOLE TRUTH & NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!!!!!
When people mention the top dancers (MJ, Usher, Chris Brown, Prince), they almost always forget to mention MC Hammer. HOW????
Prince never was talked about being a top dancer.
@@cjjonez And I had sushi for lunch. You're entirely missing the point.
@@NOMUMFEL no I didn't. I caught that you are silly and ignorant.
@NOMUMFEL yeah you silly and ignorant. I picked up that up off your silly statement.
You’re right. He’s never in the conversation which makes no sense because we couldn’t wait to see what dances he would do next.
I used to listen to this when I was 63, and now I'm 17. This will forever be a classic.💚
😂😂😂
Wait!!! What?!!
Wutt? Lol🧐😂🙃
He 63 but feels 17 again👍

Time traveler?
Hammer is a real gangster.
The cameos in this video tells you everything you need to know about Hammer!!!!
The 90's are my favorite decade of my life, by far
The 90s are extended 80s.

WE THE BEST! 😏 #90sbaby
Me Too!!!
Late 80s/early 90s for sure
In elementary school I remember my teacher used to make us listen to this every morning to feel energized. And I'm still obsessed with this
