I look carefully at the begining of the 2nd round to see if they had touched each other gloves before fighting as is usual in K1 but they did not ! they start fighting immediatly like in the 3th round, so, Kiasongrit was only too much confident but it's not a dirty trick from Thompson

I don't think he needed any Muay Thai training he was already a world class Kyokushin fighter, but he did need boxing training & some experience at kick-boxing, he did well for a guy who has never kick-boxed in his life (at that point), if this was a fight under kyokushin rules, it would probably have been a KO at 02:17, you can get away with that defence in K-1 but in kyokushin rules without the gloves, he probably would have been taken out, m.thompson was notorious for his kicking.

Many kyokushin fighters have done well in muay thai and k-1 because kyokushin's similarity to kickboxing and muay thai. But the fact is that their training regime was mainly in boxing and kickboxing when they have become pro k-1 fighters. I'm kyokushin and dutch kickboxing ex fighter, so i know how things works.

Not true, i'm kyokushin karateka since 1994, and i was doing dutch style of kickboxing at the same time.Nothing is the best, muay thai has more weapons in its arsenal and kyokushin fighters must adapt to it.Only reason why many kyokushin fighters were sucessful in k-1 and muay thai is because kyokushin is bone to bone full contact style, snd every training session is like trip trough hell, but you can't say that kyokushin is better than muay thai.

Kiatsongrit was a great fighter, but he was already at a disadvantage being only 75kg in this fight but michael thompson had no boxing experience, so I think it was even playing field, michael is a very talented fighter, probably would have finished this off alot quicker if his boxing was K-1 level.

didnt cheat, but did back kick during a time that is typically a glove tap (my wifes account) so more of a cheap shot and a dash of luck
