    Great looking truck. How big is the gap between your roof rack and the camper? Are you storing anything up there all or is the roof rack mainly used to close the gap?

      Thanks Chris. I would say the gap is around 5”. Using it mainly to fill gap. Looking to throw small firewood up there this fall.

    Do you wish you had went with the diesel over the big gas engine? Or a 350 over the 250? I’m about to factory order a truck and I’m really on the fence about both questions.

      Great questions. I went “Gasser” because I knew I wasn’t going to be towing. I think 350 would have been a bit overkill. I’m pretty close to to GVWR.

      Just found your channel and love the build!! Been enjoying catching up on the videos. I thought the F250's all had 10k GVWR, were you able to order it with a higher GVWR package? I saw in one of your earlier comments you were approx. 600#s under at 10.4K, it sounds like your GVWR is 11K? I've been looking at F350s for a slide in camper, but there are a lot more f250s out there and if their available with a higher GVWR it would possibly open more options. Keep up the awesome channel! @@uncledougiecampboss8382

      @@blake6426I believe you can get the 11,400 lb payload package on this particular model of superduty - gas engine, ex cab, etc. It really depends on many things when determining what the high payload package number is. Snow plow\camper prep packages usually get you higher GVWR along with what cab, 2 or 4 wd, single or dual rear axle, gas or diesel(heavier), trim level, etc, etc. Iirc, the crew cab maxes out GVWR at 11k, and regular cab, dually 2wd obviously would get you the highest possible GVWR. Check on Ford's site to see what each models can get what ratings. Google - '24 Ford superduty GVWR chart to see that.👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🚜🚚

    Thanks for all the details. Living in Denver, I had the opportunity to check Four Wheel Campers a few times, and I hope to get a Hawk (slide-in side dinette ) on a Bowen Bed on a F250 in 2025. I haven't bought the truck yet, so your video is very helpful. I apologize in advance for the stupid questions, but I'm still learning about Overlanding :) Thanks again.
    * Could you clarify why you picked the "upliffter swiches" option? Does it help with the camper?
    * Ordering the factory Warn 12,000 lb.Winch option also requires ordering the Dual Battery and 410 Amp Dual Alternator. You didn't go for the factory winch, but you went for the other two options. Is it because of the Smittybild you installed later on?
    * You mention the convenience of the center console option, but I can't find it when customizing my F250 on Ford's website. Would you mind giving me a few more details about this option?
    * I'm still scratching my head personally as to whether I should order the FX4 package (skid plates, Hill Descent Control, off-road-tuned shock absorbers, and Terrain Management System) or the full Tremors package (all of FX4 + higher ground clearance, upgraded suspension, bigger tires, locking rear differential, etc etc), or neither. Were these options ever on your mind at first? Is no part of the FX4 or Tremors package any useful if you plan on changing suspensions and tires anyway? Was the Tremor package on its own, without any mods down the road, not cutting it for you at all?
    * Are you happy with the Carli Super Duty Leveling Kit? Had you considered their Pintop or Backgrountry systems?
    Thanks a lot for your time

    Am I looking at something wrong? $22,000 for just the flat bed without option?

      That very well could be “today’s” pricing. I put a deposit down on mine over 4 years ago and my total was not near that.

    At 13:00 in your video, there is a steady drip from the brass fitting on the top of your extra fuel tank in the forward garage. You might want to check that out; and if it's an overflow then maybe put a hose on it leading outside the vehicle.

    • @uncledougiecampboss8382
      @uncledougiecampboss8382  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Ron. Yep I’ve been considering a hose for that. It was sort of a 1-time thing. I was parked on a grade and had a full tank.

    Nice videos! I chuckle when you say, “Back to the studio!” I picture you running to the camera to reposition it for the next segment.

      Yeah. Might try to do something like that in the future. I had an idea of doing a Overlanding Entertainment Show highlighting what other creators are putting out.

    Regarding your side step, you could possibly attach a U bracket or channel that is bolted to the camper that way you just slip your step over the top and WaLa

      Yes, again it’s a “1st World” problem. I saw a ladder that stays attached but haven’t been able to get more info on it.

    Thank for a great vid of your amazing rig!! Please, some questions: -Do you ever wish you had gone with an F350? -Did you consider putting your spare in the garage maybe above or beside your fuel tank?

    • @uncledougiecampboss8382
      @uncledougiecampboss8382  4 месяца назад +2

      Thanks! It's been a lot of fun. Occasionally I wonder if I should have done a 1-ton but so far the setup has been great. I'm OK with the spare underneath. I blew a tire in KOFA in January and it wasn't too bad to pull out from under the truck. I don't think I could get it in over the fuel tank and then I would have that weight much higher on the rig.

    How does the roof rack attach to the cab. How much condensation issue do you have with the pop up/canvas.

    • @uncledougiecampboss8382
      @uncledougiecampboss8382  Год назад +1

      So on the roof of most trucks is some plastic rails. When you remove those there are bolts already there for racks to attach to. Condensation has been pretty minimal for me living in the AZ desert .

    How has the 7.3 motor worked out for you so far? Do you think it’s the best option for your setup?

    • @uncledougiecampboss8382
      @uncledougiecampboss8382  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the question. Yes, for what (I’m doing) it has been a great choice. (1) I don’t plan to tow, so diesel torque is not need. (2) V8 for my setup has been more power than I need when in 4-low or 4_high. Drives like a Cadillac when on the highway. I’m averaging 11.3 mpg.

    Use an earth magnet for the door hack instead of the camper door hold

    Hey bud, love the videos! You're speaking to my soul. LOL. If you're up in Heber area at all this next month or two, hit me up. I'd love to pick your brain. We are in a 44' toy hauler right now, but it's for sale and then I'm building out a 2023 F250 like yours, Brent will be doing the flatbed, and I'll either do a Bison or a custom camper.

      Thanks Brian! Glad you like the videos. Been trying to figure out what "style" video gets the most views and it appears its when I talk about the truck. For sure, I'll hit you up when in your neck of the woods. Should be up there sometime between mid Sept-Oct.

    Great video and very informative for people who might be considering a similar build. Two questions....at over 10k lbs at the start of a trip, if you had it to do over again, do you think you would go with the F350?

    • @uncledougiecampboss8382
      @uncledougiecampboss8382  11 месяцев назад +1

      I thought about it, but I'm still 600lb under GVW when at 10.4K. I talked to a few truck folks and the 350 would have been the call if I was planning on towing a toy trailer.

    Why not a S&B fuel tank in the stock location to clear up room in the garage?

      Is S&B a brand of tank? I have the biggest factory tank (40 gal) in the stock location.
