Isaac are you sure you want to give up having a truck where you can haul things in vs a truck bed camper that only one person can use? Seems like a pull behind camper would be so much more useful. Unless you're planning to be camping alone without the family 24/7, a truck bed camper would mean giving up your day-to-day use of a truck for hauling things. Being a home owner now, a pull behind camper would be more useful it seems to me to have for camping trips. Being a truck owner, it sure is handy having the bed of truck for various things to haul even if it's just groceries and/or supplies needed for your new home. You would lose all that if you turn it into a camper all built out.

I totally agree. I don't see much family camping in this slide in camper. Way too small and not practical for the whole family. I guess if you and a buddy want to go camping this would work. I would definitely go with cab over camper so Jaylena and Ember can go with you. @@isaacturnerit

Thank you for your informative videos. As a 67 yr. old recently widowed woman I found this very helpful. I am about to make a purchase of a new truck with slide in camper or purchase a Sprinter van and.have Mountain Made Vans in Utah build it out. Your video reinforces in my mind just how awesome the slide ins can be. Plus I don't know if I have the patience to wait for a build out. Thanks again, Love following the new direction life has taken you and Jaleena with the addition of lil Ember Wild...🎈

      Think slide in !
Van, limited 4x4 options, and what you build is pretty much in that van forever. If you want a different, larger, smaller, lighter it’s hard to change. With a truck slide in you can sell the camper and get a new truck, sell the camper and get a different model. To sell the built out van you have to find someone who likes the vehicle and build. With a slide in camper you can sell the truck and camper separately, a much larger pool of buyers.

Isaac always seeks out the experts and gets all the answers to his questions before he spends a dime or his time.! that's why he's where he's at today, and just on the oft hand that some else may be interested in the same interests, he shares the things he learned along his journey so others can benefit, selfishness is not in his vocabulary, and that's a good trait for anyone have.

I noticed there quite the variety of roof top tents available
I liked your idea of base model but after seeing your cabinet making from your bus building days I think you’re better to go basic and then build in your details with your ideas would be fun to see you building some smaller scale details then it wouldn’t be so tiring or dragging time out -as winter rainier season approaches
glad you have a shop and storage bay for off season stuff to work on

I'd say just use the peer/truck topper first to see what you really need. I went the same route for 6 months before getting an ovrlnd camper. The dust and water thing is really not a issue and lots of people use the rubber tailgate cover. I stopped having dust coming. Coming from a bus, you are going to realize you lost lots of space. When you have all your gear in the back of the truck, it will be very tight. My truck was getting 22/23 and even the 400 to 500 lbs camper with fully loaded gear drops the mileage to 15mpg which I'm happy with. For the Indra, expect 8-10mpg bc it's a v8. Also, the project M/pop up option is better imo bc you can certainly build it as well as the slide in but lose 500lbs in weight. Weight should not be underestimated! Even with 400-500lbs extra you need upgraded heavy duty leaf springs and beef up shocks.

A lot of questions being asked that people need to think of before buying then finding out that it is not the right one for them well done isaac. It would be nice if you could get a trial of your favorite one and try it with family and then decide or go for a used one that has been tried and tested. I wonder if some of that companies take older ones back in part exchange on newer models then that way you could get some come back if too many faults which if you bought privately you have bought it sold as seen

We had a big ol cab over in the earl 70's. It extended past the sides of the truck. The Truck was a special camper edition. My parents and my brother and I traveled a lot in it. I know it is not as much room as the bus, but it is a different type of adventure. You won't be living in it, you will be camping in it. Pretty freaking amazing how they are now. So many options. I didn't see an option for a connecting window to the truck. I wonder is that is something you could have custom designed. It would be very useful. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. I will, of course, carry gear and water in the camper. There will primarily be just myself one person in the camper so it will be less than most people, maybe 500 additional lbs at most. Remember, the camper will be on the truck full time, I would prefer to get a truck and not have to modify it. I don't want to over stress the suspension of the truck. What kind of payload capacity should the truck have?
