    You did so well especially for your first day! The Golf sounds incredible!!
    A couple of things that might help you, from my experience. Firstly bin off the dash board cam and stick with the incar cam, you will learn so much about what you are doing, how you are positioning the car, steering inputs etc.
    Secondly (im not sure if it was you or Ben on the incar?) but always keep your hands at 10 to 2 (or wherever is comfy) you should never need to feed the wheel / move your hands from that position. (Hairpins will only ever need a full crossed arms turn) the benefit of keeping your hands in one spot is, you can accurately apply the same lock each time and also if the car gets out of shape and you have to add some oppo, you know exactly where the wheel is. If you move your hands on the wheel for a corner and the car steps out, you need to act fast to add some oppo, and you will have no clue if youve add 1/2 a turn a full turn of lock etc its very easy to over correct in this situation and end in a tank slapper… keep your hands firmly in 1 position… ill stop blabbing now 😄
    Looking forward to some more track action!

      Appreciate you watching and enjoying the video. I've watched a number of yours so to receive feedback from you with the experience you have is really valued.
      The GoPro was a funny one, it was primarily used simply for the hyperlapse heading to the track, then thought, hey, why not view things from another perspective too? But yeah, the in-car cam, viewing the wheel and the road ahead does give far more useful footage for me to look back on and see where I can improve.
      With regards to the hand positioning, I do have to make a conscious effort to keep them at the quarter-to position. I think it was Ben who lets the wheel feed through but he has a long standing wrist injury so is unable to grip the desired way. Even with that, he's still able to drive the wheels off the car!
      I tell you what though. It was so much fun and I was getting more confident as the session progressed. I'm itching to get back out! Where would you recommend as perhaps another good entry level track?

      Absolutely! You could tell he wasnt handing around!
      Ive hardly done any track by you, but id recommend Anglesey if you want a trip out? Its a fantastic circuit, Cadwell is also one of my favourites! Failing those the Nurburgring is a must!!
      Looking forward to seeing more track footage! You will have to take me out for a passenger ride at Curborough if you are going this year
      👍🏼

      James Cope you know what, Anglesey is one that really floats my boat, but it's so far away from us it would be at least an overnight stop, so needs a bit of planning. Cadwell is a bit advanced for me, especially the twisty bit added to the fact it's very narrow.
      Bedford isn't far from us, neither is Brands, but Bedford's noise restrictions are crippling and Brands is very expensive. There's also Donnington, which is a couple of hours drive too, but again, quite a complex and unforgiving track!

      Talking to me about hand positioning? 😅 I broke my wrist and forearm years ago and have to set my hand positioning up in advance for certain corners as the movement you describe is not possible, reaching a limit before a normal person

    • @ABF16V
      @ABF16V Год назад +1

      The dashboard cam does have one benefit... You can see that it's turned on and recording! It's probably why the footage was used I'll wager. The other camera seemed to have a mind of its own as to when and how long it would record lol

      Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah Snetterton was fantastic. I wanted to try somewhere that was perhaps forgiving enough for a novice driver and Snetterton came well recommended. We definitely want to do another, so where would you suggest as an equal or slight step up?

      @Ricky Dub Ooo, I like Knockhill as a track when I watch motorsport on there. The final sharp right hander as you head up the hill certainly looks fun! It looks like it would suit more powerful cars though, is that the case?

    Hey man I got a question about the oil light mine keeps blinking I can’t figure it out

    • @golfmk2
      @golfmk2  Год назад

      Hi. Does the oil light blink depending on conditions? For example, after a spirited drive, or when the engine is cold or hot? Also, any top end tapping sounds that you can hear?

    • @mk2gti4l83
      @mk2gti4l83 Год назад

      Well I did the engine swap 3.2 vr6 I’m assuming to use both of the oil pressure switch sensor one high one low but I’m not too sure

    • @ABF16V

      Keep a Mk2 cluster happy by using Mk2 pressure switches.

    • @golfmk2
      @golfmk2  Год назад

      As above, I have OEM Mk2 switches in place. Providing you're still running Mk2 clocks, this will save a big electrical headache.

      169kg with all ancillaries for the R32 engine.
