Several counties have contracts with the corporate disposals companies, and they have the rights agreement with the city to be the only ones who can remove garbage from residents for a fee. In some cities, if you get caught hauling garbage for money, or advertising a dumpster business, you can get a lawsuit from the city. In my city, you have to have a waste disposal license. And of course they do not have any more licenses available. The market is completely controlled by the multi million dollar disposal companies.

I just want to make around $5k a month over an above expenses, and wondered if you would advise a truck or a reeving system trailer for dumpsters I am only interested in Dumpster drop off for a business. I’m in my 50s health isn’t the best and just want something I can still do and make a little money without employees part time,what’s your suggestions?
Thank you! If we assume a 50-60% margin running as an efficient sole owner operator revenue would need to be around $9-10K per month to achieve the $5,000 in profit. If it were me I would probably go with a trailer set up and use the truck that pulls it for all business activities and running around town that way you can get dual purpose out of the 1 vehicle expense.

4 years for use 2 million in revenue. 5 trucks 5,000 residential homes a week.

Check around and see if there are any private haulers currently providing service. Also you could call the local municipalities in your area.
