Amen! Following through is so important. It is really scary how children are being brought up lately. Parents need to parent! I have enjoyed your videos.

My kids never clean up. I have been trying to get my daughter to clean her room for almost two years. I even offered to pay people to clean it for her. It is hopeless at this point. I keep a pretty clean house spending upwards of 20 hrs per week cleaning. My daughter’s room looks like an episode of hoarders. Her excuse is that she is too busy studying. She does get good grades but always has time to go out with friends to eat and shop. She just does not have time to help clean. Same thing goes for my son who actually has a clean room but leaves items all over the house.

Hi! Thanks so much for watching! I know this is such a difficult thing to manage. You sound like an amazing mom who wants the best for her kids. I think it’s great that your daughter gets good grades, but being able to have a clean room is a part of a healthy, balanced life and will help her in her future. You have to be the one to put your foot down and not allow her to go out with friends until she has cleaned her room. At this point, she probably needs help - I would suggest getting a professional organizer or a really organized friend who could help her go through everything and get a clean start. I’m going to send a few links. The first one should be some additional help for your daughter in the second one should be helpful for your son. The third can really help your daughter to maintain her room once it gets completely clean. All the best to you! 😊

Yeah I don’t give my son money but I do give him money for the movies or food and pay his phone bill. Should I take that away

      Judith, great question!
I would strongly recommend that you give him a small amount towards those things and set up chores for him to earn the rest. If he just goes to you if he wants something, he never has to budget or learn how money works in the real world.

what if you can't afford to pay him to cooperating in their own home??? he doesn't work because that's not part of the culture where I live. He is great in school but at home, he only plays video games. I'm single mother of 3.

      @@mocheen4837 I just found your comment. I’m so sorry - I don’t know how I missed it!
That must be so frustrating! Below, you will find a playlist for my series “Raising kids to be responsible with money”. It’s about much more than money. It’s mainly about chores and teaching them to be responsible in general. Don’t pass over the first video - although it says it’s for toddlers and young children, the principal is very important, even for teens. I guarantee that if you watch these videos and put the suggestions in place with some tough love, you will see a difference!

Hi there! Thanks for your comment. Every kid is different which is why consequences have to be customized. If the consequence isn't enough to cause her to try to change, you need to change the consequence to something that she values. You could also sit down with her and discuss what her struggles are and how you can help. Help her to set up reminders or whatever she needs but also change what will happen if she can't follow through. I hope this helps.
      Thanks for watching!!
