    A person who doesn’t understand football or conceptual art has no place commenting on a film about both. It’s a fantastic film on a sporting legend and the artistry of the man and player he was.

    Bang on again.. Although you could have mentioned that the score by Mogwai is very good..

    Watching Zidane was beautiful
    I wouldn't watch a film of it, though.

    Zidane was a mind reading dancer of a footballer, a genuine wizard and the most elegant player I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
    Didn't need a camera zoomed in on just him to see that, in fact just watch the full pitch to properly see the contrast between Zidane and the other 21 mere mortals.
    Zidane just had something superhuman about him and has got to be in the top 5 players ever and IMO the best to watch. Wonderful player.

    24 hour psycho sounds like a good movie title.
    By the real psycho is a masterpiece in normal time.

    I am not wishing to go against the grain, but I really liked the music (by the magnificent Mogwai) and I kind of enjoyed it-not as a film, but as the good doctor points out, as an art piece in a gallery.

    I'm a huge movie buff with an arts degree and I love football...I found the film quite interesting, but I agree, it was more of an installation than a movie..

    He means talking something that is working class or something thats a bit rough around the edges (in this case football). Then trying to make it more digestible to snobs or art lovers. By making it out to be a graceful work of art, and hiding it's rough edges

    @makaveli2989 In the Museum of Modern Art a few years ago, they were showing some of Andy Warhol's films on a constant loop in a dark room as though you were going to look at a painting. Do that with Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait. You know, makes sense...

    Thanks for the 17 camera information. The rest is your angry opinion about what you hate: football and conceptual art... well, football is an art, this documentary is a film. It is a conceptual and artistic piece... the problem is you might have seen too much hollywood, cinema is beyond your considerations, thankfully. Stick to your podcast, but it would be much more interesting to talk about something you like and know.

  • @TulseLuper

    Why do so many people feel the need to make that stupid argument? You don't have to make a film in order to have an opinion on it.

    The fuck is this guy on about? The film is a nice experience, but I'm willing to bet that part of the issue that he doesn't like football. If he loved football and loved film, like I do, he'd think it was great to watch and great to (read) Zidane's thoughts. But instead, he found it boring and way too experimental for the cinema. I'd like to see what his thoughts are on a Romanian film called 'Police, Adjective'

  • @makaveli2989
    @makaveli2989 14 лет назад

    and tell me somthing Mr. Kermode. if the film shouldn't be in your cinema, where else should it be??? we are talking about a FILM here. not a picture. i don't care what kind of fim it is, movie, art, what ever you call it. it still a film. so stop whining and find another subject to pay your rents from!
