When it comes to powerful scifi ships nothing beats the Shadow Cruiser from Babylon 5. That evil space spider can absorb hits and heal, store energy from hits and fire it back at the attacker, shimmer into hyperspace to avoid hits and shimmer back into realspace to attack anywhere. Its manouverable and powerful and quite fast too. Its firepower is ridiculously powerful and it can use its own hull to form fighters too. A crossover of Babylon 5 and Star Trek that had a Shaddow cruiser attacking the races of the Star Trek universe would end the apocalypse of many races. The Bird of Prey would become the prey.
@@thedeclineandfallofbritishsci I said something similar on a Trekies web site and boy did they get triggered. It's nice to see someone who understands that millions of years of perfecting space combat would always trump hundreds of years of space flight.
I’m a huge Trek fan as you can probably guess but I can admit that existential threats like this is something that Star Trek doesn’t do well in general. It does on occasion show flashes of brilliance with it think The Borg and v’ger and a few TOS episodes but Trek tends to focus on a different kind of story telling.
@@thedeclineandfallofbritishsci Very true. I'm a general sci-fi fan so I enjoy most Star Trek but Discovery is simply bad writing and unwatchable. Picard series could be better too. In all honesty though my favourite sci-fi series is The Expanse. I've just finished reading the novels so I'm way ahead of those who just watched the series. I don't want to give spoilers but the humans who settled on Laconia and built three Battleships using protomolecule tech really are very powerful. The protomolecule is a very versatile tool.
You are bang on the money about discovery and Picard although I did feel that s3 was a massive improvement we will have to see what they do about making legacy. I’ll definitely be covering the expanse in depth as it’s easily one of the best pieces of science fiction ever made. Am deliberately holding off on it and a few other projects until I’m satisfied that I’m good enough at making videos to do the subject justice but the Expanse is in my crosshairs for definite.

I was having this debate the other day and yes the OG viper is the best without a shadow of a doubt but the viper mk2 also scored very highly.
