YAY, been waiting for this for all of about half an hour after the Gamefound campaign launched. Looking like I will back it even before watching the playthrough.
@@OneStopCoopShop I'm watching straight away Mike. Loving it! And if there was any hesitation, it would have been dispelled by the ubiquitous angry mob. I don't know why that would make me happy but pitchforks and firebrands has a certain rustic and somewhat deranged appeal! lol
Thanks for the playthrough! Pretty sure that 22:00 is wrong and you don't treat both sullivan powers as having other 3 in play (you basically have to choose which one you play first and resolve the effect once it's played) So for example if you choose to play "Elcie" first, you will have 2 other sullivans in that moment that will give you +2 (Because you save the other one to be played last in order to have the effect of "if you have 4 sullivans in play) That's at least how I understood the rules
A small correction: when you fail a mission, you do not replace it. Just flip it down. You will have one less Mission to choose from for the remainder of the game. XD
@@OneStopCoopShop Don't worry. Small mistakes happen. You are still my most reliable source for solo playthroughs on the internet. Btw, the same mistake happens in the Resist! play. But since I only saw that a few months after the release, I never commented. 😉
I bought resist after your recommendation a while back and absolutely suck at it even when following the drafting guide 💀 It's still a lot of fun though and I backed this one too! Can't wait to play it (I hope they do a space/robot uprising themed game in this 'series' because that would be cool... Can you put in a word w/the designer 👀)
@@OneStopCoopShop heheh... But yeah a game called like 'Uprising!' or something like that themed after robots rising up against humans (maybe like mini burncyle theme) would be an amazing theme that would probably work with the game's core mechanics I think. I hope to see something like that in the future that would be awesome!!!!
I own Resist! and I’m totally backing this one. I look at it almost like an expansion (albeit one I don’t need the original game to play). Speaking of David Thompson, will you be covering Zheng He at any point?
Maybe! I’d like to play Zheng He, but for whatever reason they don’t return my emails anymore 😅 But it’s likely either David will have an extra copy for me, or I can just buy one. Definitely want to play it when it’s done
Thanks Mike, great playthrough as always. Just for interest sake: can powers only affect the current location? For instance, at 16:18 you discarded a card that was not to your advantage - could you instead have discarded the wolf you revealed at the location to the left?
I just received Witchcraft and am getting it to the table. I set it all up before clicking on your video. What's wild is that I have the exact same Jurors/Missions as your playthrough and they're even in the exact same order. What are the chances?!?
I'm wondering why they didn't Just slapped some victory Points on the cards. By that way the old and the new victory condition would have been playable. Btw. Never heard of resist before, but thanks to your video I'm backing this one.
It’s hard to say harder or easier. Because resist is going for historical accuracy, you have to get a TON of victory points to actually “win” in a meaningful way. In witchcraft getting 2/3 jurors on your side is pretty much a happy ending, so I’d say the game is easier in terms of its victory goalposts, but it’s kind of just semantics in a way
This looks really neat. Heard good things about Resist! but that never quite caught my attention. Having re-watched your playthrough of that, I definitely prefer the theme here and the slight changes all seem like solid additions. You and Colin are not helping with the weeding off of crowdfunding though (pulled me into 3 projects in the space of a week!). Gonna have to either unsubscribe or miraculously develop some willpower in the near future...
Great fun thanks Mike. The main concern I had was the (unlikely) chance that it would be a re-themed game with not much difference mechanistically; but the price point of the game is low so that helps mitigates any sameness of play, but there are definitely enough wrinkles for me to want to back Witchcraft. Shame they still went with the 0-3 values of villagers , which is still too swingy when the stakes are potentially losing the game with 2 cards. But I'm happy to own both games 😁😁

Just a thought they could flip the revealed side over so you can put all cards in a row and just show their value
This looks great. I was uninterested in Resist due to its theme but Witchcraft is definitely down my alley
It appeals to me more as well :)
Backed this after watching 6 minutes of gameplay. Great demo and super excited
Oh no!!! At the 7 minute mark the game went WAYYY downhill 😱
(Just kidding, I love this one)
I received my shipping notice today. Hooray for this video!
Mine arrived yesterday!
Late to the party and hoping to find a copy on eBay or wherever one may turn up. Love Resist! and can’t believe I missed this one.
I think it's still on the boat before delivering, so hopefully it'll be widely available soon
@@OneStopCoopShop I can only hope. BGG is showing (comments) people are starting to receive their copies now.
@@OneStopCoopShop found a copy on BGG NSIB and wasn’t price gauged :)
Backed it immediately after watching this video. Looks like a great game. Awesome playthrough Mike, as always!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Looking forward to playing this

Lucky for me Resist! have been impossible to buy/find where I live, so I'll just get this one instead.
That works! Hopefully both games get wider distribution eventually, but I know it’s a smallish publisher

You’re right! That one isn’t limited to your current location, so your idea would have been smarter 😅
@@OneStopCoopShop that is awesome - it increases the tactical decision landscape, especially accross multiple plays.

I think we all know that ‘throwing in jail’ might be a euphemism for ´burnt at the stake.😂 I just received my copy today, excited to play.
But… but… you can rescue them and bring them back!!!!
Hope you enjoy it :)
@@OneStopCoopShop ah yeah, this is pre burning.. anyway i like it, first game was a complete loss for me but im sort of getting the hang of it...
Most witches were hung not burnt. Burning was extremely rare. Even the most famous Witch trials in Salem, they were all hung.
This is set in a semi-fictional version of the world where all the witches and monsters are real, so they can change up the executions too 😜
@@OneStopCoopShop granted. My copy arrives tomorrow. So looking forward to tabling this
This seems to be a better version of resist. Agree?
I like it a bit better, but it’ll depend on your tastes, especially with the victory condition

Btw. Never heard of resist before, but thanks to your video I'm backing this one.
Easy enough to treat each mission’s persuasion points as VPs if you want. You’d just have to pick whether the higher or lower value applies
I like the lighter theme and interest choices around each judge's difficulty. I will probably stick with Resist, though.
I support you!
I was waiting for Resist! to become available but I think this is much better. I’ll skip Resist!
That simplified things :)
@@OneStopCoopShop Thank you for the overview!
Seems very similar to Resist! Do you feel there is enough difference to warrant owning both?
You might want to watch the end of the video. I discuss that exact question in detail 😁

After listening though that part you summed up my feelings of the two pretty well.
Happy it helped! Thanks for watching :)

@@OneStopCoopShop Cool, thanks for the insight!
What is the difference with Resist in terms of how long it takes to play a full game on average? How long does each take to play more or less?
I would say each takes maybe 25-35 minutes including setup, shorter if you lose quickly 😅
Too bad it's not available in Canada
It's not available anywhere yet. The crowdfunding copies are just starting to ship I believe. Hopefully it'll be widely available soon.
