Great stuff Tom. I was watching Rahdo's energetic run-through but halfway though (as much as I love Richard's enthusiasm) I suddenly had a yearning for the calmer waters of Slickerdrips!
Lol I do the same. Sometimes Rhado goes off the rails talking a mile a minute, then will have 2 minutes of analysis paralysis, then go back to talking a mile a minute; rinse and repeat. And I'll have to seek out Tom and Marty. Luckily there's a fair bit of overlap.
Harsher feedback - stopped watching and being subscribed to him - his "energetic" run-throughs were too much to offer any substantial value. Especially if you want to see how someone else plays and get this player's feedback in a concise and calm manner instead of someone who comes over as a madman who has just swallowed an unhealthy dose of amphetamines and needs to cope with his ADHD. Slickerdrips does this phenomenally, Rahdo... well...
As always, thank you for the playthrough. This was the first one that I have seen that gets close enough that I can actually see what's going on. You should get a commission because I ordered it right away! 🙂
Hey I noticed that at around 27:53, you use the market to buy your own trade good - I think you can only buy other players' trade goods. But thanks for the video, I want to buy this game now!
Hey Tom. I must be honest I didn’t have a good feeling about this game after seeing the busy player sheets and watching the mini tutorial at the beginning of your video… then I watched the whole thing and wow, it was intriguing. Gonna give it a try now, it just got released here in France and as a fan of Shem’s work I believe I cannot really go wrong here. Thank you sir for the great videos (solo campaign included)
Enjoyed that - thanks for sharing. We're playing it for the first time on Saturday (4 player) so this gave me a solid foundation of how it plays and some hints & tips :D
I think you are doing gladiators wrong. You can “train” as many times as you can circle according to your citizens track but the part at the end where you put in the year number is when you battle with the red or blue gladiator that year. So you circle on the left and right when you want to but can only battle with either gladiator once a year. So you fill in the year then do a battle with that gladiator. Not write the year when you train one.
Quick question: at 29:10, you only drew 3 cards. Should that not be five cards because you are in year 3 on medium difficulty (4) and you had a resource on the ai's cards (1 more)? Thank you!
I enjoyed your play-through, I ordered the game a few days ago after it being on my radar for over a year now. Hopefully it’ll arrive in time for the weekend, where I can spend plenty of time head scratching my way through a couple of plays. 61 can be a target after a couple of learning games 😊
@@slickerdrips That’s the plan, I downloaded them earlier. Fantastic free add on from Garphill games, the question is do I watch a TH attempt for some top tips 🤔.
28:20 you can’t recruit the Gladiator because your only on 3 on the citizen track it requires to be on the forth on the track to recruit the Gladiator?
Terrific sound quality, expert video editing, good commentary. If I could give a small suggestion, you could spice up your playthrough with a bit of storytelling, e.g. give your gladiator a name, talk about how the society is looking at you and becoming more angry with more disdain, you try to win them over by building an archway which increases your soldiers' bravery and sense of nationalism. Anyway, pleasure to watch, thank you!
Subtitles are misleading. There are no limits to how many times you can train gladiators. You only put a number in boxes when gladiators fight because there is a limit of one fight per gladiator per year. In 51min you crossed two fields in the temple but spent only one citizen.
I had my first game tonight . I played on easy but was also surprised that I managed to get a pretty heroic score by the end, 73. Maybe I was just lucky. I don’t think I got the rules wrong and had a think about that but fell fairly clear I didn’t get the rules wrong. Maybe beginners luck!? Medium difficulty next so maybe I’ll get ruined there😂
It’s probably expensive on Amazon because the box is so heavy (due to the sheets). I got for under $40 at my local shop so you might try checking yours as well. It is a bit expensive for what you get but I think it’s worth it. It comes with so many sheets and is a great solitaire game with a ton of replay value.
At 33:27, I think you did an invalid scout. You did not just rotate the shape, you rotated and mirrored the shape. That said, a pure rotation actually would have been easier in the long run to fill in other scout shapes!

Thanks Molly! I hope you love it :) the solo campaign is fantastic so far

@@andygrant5894 what exactly did you download? 🤔
Thanks for sharing. At 51:34 you can not have a piety and favour
That is correct. These are two separate boxes.
Great Game…i like it! Think i have to buy this one.
You did a really good job on your both playthroughs.

He realized that later in the vid.
Thanks Tom for another great video! I can't wait now to get a polish version :)

In turn 3, you couldn't train gladiators past level 3 since you were at 3 on the citizen track (I'm at 33mn so I don't know if you see this later)
oh yes you corrected it later ^^
thanks for this!
Thanks for watching!
Can the L shape be flipped in any orientation or just spun?
You can flip it too
@@slickerdrips thank you. Grabbed this today and scored 69 on my first attempt on easy difficulty. Loads of fun.

this game seems so fun!
Sooo many combos :D
Game looks cool but it is way too expensive. It's $55 on Amazon. Not enough content for that price.

@@draheim90 You said it's expensive for what you get AND that it's worth it. It can't be both. It's either worth it OR expensive.
@@thelastmotel something expensive can be worth it lol, wtf are you rambling about?

You can rotate it and mirror it however you like, I think you're right that the rotation would have been easier though :)
